Popped in here for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and had a pleasant experience. Nothing too fancy but reasonably good food and a competitive price. Nice oldie woldy Hotel with a nice atmosphere. Not outstanding but would probably visit again.

We stayed here for a two night break at the end of July and had a fabulous time. Parts of the hotel date back to the 15th century with many original features remaining, including a Priest Hole next to room 9. The downside to all this history is there are no lifts and some narrow staircases to navigate, though that... More

Booked this via a Wowcher deal for our first wedding anniversary. Fabulous tudor mansion hotel. All staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed an afternoon tea on our first afternoon in the conservatory which was nice. In the evening we visited the restaurant and the meal (lamb rump) was to die for. The rooms were good considering the age of... More

Wow what can I say. Stayed in the Queen Anne room and felt like a celebrity. Very spacious comfortable room. Lovely cosy bar. Had a champagne tea in the conservatory. The grounds were lovely for a stroll. Would definitely stay again. Good breakfast.

Our two night stay in mid-July was really very good indeed, and only a coupe of minor quibbles with the bedroom stops me rating this as excellent. It is hard to believe that the other reviews of the same weekend posted here are of the same place. The public rooms in this pre-Tudor building (hardly the place one might expect... More

If you want to stay somewhere full of character and history then this is for you! Lovely garden (green woodpecker and baby wrens) and small pond make this somewhere to relax in with a drink and enjoy the sunshine. Bags of old architecture - beams, priest hole, coats of arms, old bell, stained glass windows but as you can imagine... More

This is a lovely old Tudor - Elizabethan hotel with plenty of charm and character (even a cunningly disguised priest hole!) and unlike some 'old' hotels not tired and in need of tlc! Lovely garden and grounds in a quiet rural location. Friendly, helpful staff provide a warm welcome and helped make the stay very pleasant. We came back from... More

Great location in the countryside with nice grounds. Went today Sunday with a party of people from our classic car club - 30 of us for lunch. Having climbed up to the Gods to the function room - no bar service you have to go all the way back downstairs to the bar and carry your own drinks up. Then... More

Nice old property, a Best Western Member, but in need of major upgrades, no lift to upper floors to function room for our older guests at this lunch. Carpets on stairs/steeps thread bare in a number of places, food very average, best part was the roll and butter, could do better, coffee not that good either, service slow and poor,... More
