I stayed at the Doubletree at Newcastle airport on the 14th March on a work trip. My company forgot to book a late check out for me as I was flying late in the afternoon the next day. The lady at front of house could not have been more helpful and added the late check out for me at no extra charge as they didn't need the room the next day. Every member of staff could not have been any friendlier or helpful. Originally coming from Newcastle it reminded me how friendly everyone in the North East of England and made me a little home sick. The room was spacious and clean and despite a bit of improvement work at the front of the hotel the hotel was very nicely presented. Special mention to the lady running the bar who I had a great chat with whilst having a drink. Would not hesitate to book this hotel again on any future visits to NCL.

I have to comment the standard of the staff & services were to say the least very, very, poor. Slovenly dressed staff who portray a couldn't care less attitude. For example I ordered from the bar menu some "crispy" battered Fish & chips. when they duly arrived there were no cutlery or condiments placed on the table. These I had to seek out for myself as the waitress disappeared so quickly after "dumping" my dish on the table. The "crispy" battered fish was uncooked on the inside with a cream coating of still uncooked batter. I just left it & retired to my room. One other pointer was being charged to park my car for the night in question. This is the first time in all my working life staying in similar hotels as the Hylton that I have ever payed extra to park my car. I know they state the parking fee is £8.50 per night but I never envisaged that this would be charged for the night of the booking. The other negative point was my early morning call never materialised. The desk was manned by a very untidy looking desk manager who wasn't really bothered about my non existent morning call. Overall this was a mistake that will never happen again with this hotel as I will not be returning. I also feel by the Hylton office replies to the other complaints on Tripadviser that they are in denial as to what needs doing to rectify these problems. 'Everyone' needs retraining or replacing?' Very poor standards abound! I am sure these could be surpassed even by Britannia hotels????

As a long standing HIlton Honours member and having used Hilton hotels all over the world for 25 years plus, this stay was the worst ever. The hotel is under renovation and work in progress but the staff, particularly at Reception and on Check in were a disgrace. The Receptionist was rude and ignorant and did the barest minimum to check us in. Her uniform was dirty and not a good look for the Hilton brand. The hotel has almost doubled in capacity in the last year but the service has deteriorated so badly. The service is now less than average and service is poor. The staff are not trained and undermanned. Great shame as the location is excellent and we have used this hotel for many years for both business and recreational travel. Sadly also the competition in the area is picking up with equally good and affordable hotels.......

The service is excellent and the staff from front desk to housekeeping and dining to bar service are welcoming and friendly, well trained and caring. Particularly Angie in the breakfast service. The menu in the dining room is supplemented by the bar meals menu and provides a wide selection of foods. The hotel is also constantly being improved and updated as witnessed by the current relocation of the reception desk and rebuilding of the entrance.
