Our friends now live in Somerset and invited us down for a local new year's party. The pub hotel had a grand look, we were welcomed by nearly all the staff as we walked in, as we were taken up to it room which was the size of a small flat, the rooms are oldie, just missing so bulbs but...

Was advised walk in visits were catered for between 1 and 2.30pm. Arrived at 1.40pm, was asked to wait 20 minutes for table, ended up not being seated at a table until 45 minutes later. Complained as 2 dishes came out incomplete, they corrected this, but by the time these missing items arrived to our table we'd nearly finished our...

W didn't stay here but called in for lunch. A lovely welcome and the food was tasty and well cooked. Waitress staff polite and helpful. Host chatty and enquired about our day and where we had come from. A relaxed atmosphere in the airy and bright dining room.

All three courses of my Christmas work evening meal were disappointingly poor. First course trout was leathery, stiff and dry. Had to ask for dressing. Second course lamb needed a saw to get through, was fatty and had a large bone in the middle. Had to ask for mint sauce. And the pavlova was cheap and boring. Only good thing...

Annual Christmas meal out with 3 of our grandchildren (adults). Two had tomato and basil soup which was chopped tinned tomatoes with basil and no way could be called soup, it was awful. The other starters were OK but nothing special. Two had panna cotta which was totally the wrong texture, more like thick totally flavourless jelly with all the...

Visited looking for a pint and a good dinner. Waited ages to be served, and then the entire transaction took place without words, eye contact or a smile. There was no suggestion or offer of food, no menus displayed or available so I drank up and left. Interestingly the apparently regular customers at the bar were being interacted with brilliantly.

Very pleased we booked this accommodation. The rooms are nice and clean, the restaurant and bar are very cosy and the food was lovely. Great English Breakfast!! Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone.

I was surprised to read some of the reviews, especially some people complaining about food being served on the wrong type of plate for their liking.....We arranged our weekend with other couples as it was a central place for us all to meet and we could not have had a better time. The place is beautiful and we just loved...

I visit the Thatched Cottage quite a bit as I meet a friend halfway between Bristol & Somerset. It's always had amazing service & good food since I've been going for the past 2 years but unfortunately it's gone downhill. The staff have changed & the service is poor, as is the food. I went last night & had curry...

I found the rooms very well presented although on a night you could hear people in the next room snoring and every time someone used the water you could hear it rushing, the food was good but the microwave seems to be a favourite thing to use, overall a friendly place to stay but I'd look else where next time.
