Strategic location within walking distance to Selimiye Mosque, Üç Şerefeli Mosque, Eski Camii, etc, The hotel may be a part of Sokullu Mehmet Paşa Hamami as it shares the walls. I can see the old wall in hotel's garden. The hotel still smells "ancient" and it is pleasant to stay there. Good breakfast and I enjoyed the selection of jam. Super friendly staff. The garden is lovely, I spent relaxing and reading book plus enjoyed Turkish coffee with Ottoman music, beautiful! The only less about this hotel that the room is small and (not meaning to be offensive but rather for comfort) may not be suitable for whom who is oversize or overweight. It is Ottoman building so it is not designed to have huge rooms.

The hotel building is nice and the only good thing about it is its proximity to the center. Everything else is really problem: My room was very noisy, there was no AC, the bathroom is so small I could not move, the bed was adding to my nightmares: I could not sleep. The owners didnt do anything to improve the facilities, it seems.. They are nice people but being nice is mot enough..

This was a great little hotel. Unique and rustic in charm and in the perfect location - within walking distance of all the sights of Edirne. Parking in across the room and you have to get a receipt from reception. Staff were friendly but spoke little English - not a problem for us though. We had a Triple room but it was very tight and couldn't lounge in there as the TV didn't work. Bathroom was very small but ok. Be warned that you can get woken up by the calls toprayer early in the morning as it is right next to a mosque - but you will get this wherever you are in the city centre. Overall, great for one or two nights (which is all you need for sightseeing) as it is quite basic, but it is the charm of the old building that really makes this hotel differerent from your usual. Wifi was good and breakfast was simple but good. Not a huge amount of choice, but what i would expect of a small hotel. The breakfast room and garden area are nicely decorated too.

1. No WiFi as promised 2. Minimal breakfast and limited availability 3. Sewer or drain backed up with dirty water spilling into the bathroom 4. Non-existent housekeeping This is the second year in a row I have stayed at the Tashan Hotel while attending a sporting event that fills every room in every hotel in Edirne. It is an old hotel in a historic building, this is understood. While last year it was acceptable, again with the understanding that it is an old place with old facilities, THIS year it is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable on ANY level. None of the issues mentioned occurred last year. I stayed in the property for four nights. On arrival the temperature in Edirne was 40*C/103*F and upon entering my room it was stifling. Apparently the air conditioner had not been run for a few days and thus the room stayed terribly hot as the a/c could not generate enough cool air to bring the room temperature down for my entire stay. WiFi does not exist. It is on and off and when I asked if the system even worked I was told it was a “provider problem.” Note that the fellows working there spend all their free time on the internet. Note also that stuck to the front desk is a prominent sticker from TripAdvisor advertising the hotel’s offer of “free” WiFi. For four days there was ZERO WiFi lasting more than a minute before cutting out. Breakfast was not available until a very late 0845, and it is minimal. Some vegetables, no fruit, juice, or soup, and only hard boiled eggs. I am not a fussy eater but struggled to find something marginally filling. Also, due to commitments I had at the event I asked if there was some way the “breakfast” could be served earlier – even by 15 minutes. They accomplished this once. At one point outside of the hotel an intoxicated, homeless local man began pestering me for money for “food” and followed me into the hotel via the open front door. The fellow working at the time watched this, even as the homeless man began following me upstairs, without intervening. At no time did he stop the man from continuing and even following me upstairs.. When I first entered my room I noticed a faint “sewer” smell; I remembered this from last year and figured it was just 400 year-old plumbing. I also noticed every day on my return that the smell was getting stronger. Then, I saw yellowish water on the bathroom floor. When I told the front desk one of the young guys pulled himself away from his working computer, brought in a mop and bucket and wiped the floor with this yellow water. He then sprayed some air freshener, said “OK,” and left. Later that night I was standing in this yellow water as some plumbing had obviously failed. This could have been avoided had housekeeping been more aware of the water – however, for my entire stay I NEVER HAD MAID SERVICE despite seeing her on the floor. This was an expensive stay. This was an absolutely disgusting stay as well. Had there been other hotel options I would have left immediately. Had the fellows that are running the hotel shown any interest in making things better I would be somewhat forgiving. But as it stands, this was without question the most disgusting, frustrating, insulting rip-off by a so-called “hotel” I have ever experienced.

Response from Orçun G, Sahibi at Tashan Hotel

The staff and manager are genuinely very friendly people indeed. The breakfasts are good and they even make proper Turkish coffee if you ask (not the horrible nescafe stuff!) Bed was comfy and wifi worked. Charming old building, right in the centre. Very good value for money.
