Stayokay Texel is located in the centre of the island, within walking distance of the lively centre of Den Burg and at 6 km from the beach. The interior was developed according to a new design concept: natural materials and subdued colours create a unique atmosphere and a strong feeling of space. The friendly hostel boasts an array of modern facilities and each room has its own private bathroom. In addition, the building is surrounded by a variety of sports fields and playgrounds.

Detailed Reviews
Big hostel, room was spacious, I liked how we could have separate toilets and bathroom. Everything was clean. The cafe and breakfast buffet was quite good. Lots of things to do for kids on the huge play area. Also a nice terrace outside. Bike rentals were good. Bikes were maintained. Parking is not so huge but there is a big public parking right beside. It's a short bike/walk to the center, and it's a really small island so everything is around a 20 min bike or car ride away.

I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and practicality of the hostel. Everything has been thought of, many small thought out details.
I had a room at the back and it was super quiet
It's not a party vibe this time of the year, more families and nature lovers.

Room is pretty comfortable, clean and easy to reach.
It was in low season; there still were many people (mostly families) staying there.
You'd better check or confirm your room in advance, because you could be given a wrong room that you ask for. You can also rent bike there, it is not so easy to find your bike in the bike storehouse though. Some bikes are dusty.

You don’t get what you pay for. Even though we booked beds in a 4-bedded room, we were given beds in a 6-bedded room along with the explanation that this is a normal practice and otherwise we should have opted for a private room.
Rude, unfriendly, indifferent, uninformed staff. Instead of solving problems and negotiating with the clients, their solution was to blame and accuse the clients.
In the night, you can expect groups of schoolkids running and shouting in the hallway and banging on your door, without the staff doing anything to ensure that other guests would not be disturbed.
All in all, unwelcoming and unpleasant atmosphere.

This place is great! The staff are super friendly and are able to help with any queries. I stayed in a four bed room. The room was basic but clean and my room mates were really lovely. Breakfast is included: it is a feast! I had home made apple pancakes. The bar is friendly and on both occasions that I used it there were friendly people to talk to. I hired a bike from the hostel which seems to be the best way to travel on Texel.

I stayed one night only but I felt how staff really cared about making guests feel welcome in the hostel -
for once it didn't make me feel that staff's job was just about the money like so many other big chains. The hostel is really big yet very clean, which can give you the impression that they have not hostel but hotel standards. Clearly the best hostel I've ever stayed in.

we spent some days in Texel and select the hostel since we usually looking in summer times for a clean bed and bath, an acceptable breakfast since we are usually on the road and not using the hotel amenities: So why paying for this?
The hostel is located in Den Burg the biggest city in the center of the island. So every other place is just 10-15 km away. It's a youth hostel so not multiple-star hotel , so for everything I write this has to be considers.
So the hostel and in particular the room we got was clean and in good condition. So nothing was broken or not usable. They cleaned the room every day which we witnessed because of the bad weather sometimes.
But we were impressed by the breakfast. They offered not all day the same, but exchanges some dishes and they filled the plates up, when empty, and on Sunday a girl band played for breakfast. So as written we were positive surprised.
Also the bar and the bar service was good with standard prizes, so neither cheaper nor more expensive then in pubs and restaurants.
So if they hold the quality I would anytime recommend this hostel for a stay.

I just came back from a visit to the Stayokay Texel with a school group of 150 children. We were not the only large school group however the location was so well designed it never seemed crowded. The rooms are basic but modern, and the communal spaces fresh, modern and functional. This is an excellent location to explore the whole of Texel however if I visited in summer I would probably want to be nearer to the beach. The staff were beyond excellent. Nothing was too much for them and they stayed flexible, discreet and friendly for the whole trip.

We stayed here during a bike tour of the Netherlands; I booked a 2 bed private room for €65/night, which is a bit on the high side for a hostel, but on the whole not too bad. It's a hostel, so the decor is a bit institutional, but it was clean, comfortable, and the room was a decent size, with a big window facing the front of the building, so the room stayed quite airy.
The breakfast was basic (bread, deli meats, cheese, fruit, cereal) but plentiful and included in the price, which made it decent value (cyclists eat A LOT!). The coffee was decent, and they had some Dutch specialities (ontbijkoek, hagelslag). It would have been nice if there were toasters in the breakfast room or some hot dishes like scrambled eggs.
The hostel is a short walk from Den Burg, and convenient for the ferry and the Texel Brewery. Staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't have any problems with noisy guests, most of the other guests seemed to be young families. The wifi was a bit unreliable during our stay, which was a bit annoying - there are 2 computers in the lounge, but they're pretty knackered. There's a covered bike shed where you can lock your bike which was important to us, but the door is often open even though it's supposed to be keycard entry. There's also a small bar on site that had the local beer on tap, which was lovely!
On the whole, I'd be happy to stay here again - it's not a 4* hotel, but it's clean, it had everything you need, and it's not expensive. What more do you need?
