Strawberry Hill Hotel, Spa & Gardens, a 26-acre mountain top resort, is located in the heart of one of the world's most famous coffee-producing mountain ranges, Jamaica's Blue Mountains. Listed in the New York Times #1 bestselling book, 1,000 Places To See Before You Die, Strawberry Hill is 3100 feet above sea level and features one of the most awe-inspiring views of the Blue Mountains in one direction as well as the city of Kingston in the other. On a clear day, one can see up to 100 miles from the property's infinity-edge pool, and at night the city far below becomes a twinkling mirror of the night sky. The property's 12 Georgian-style cottages, spa, exotic gardens and restaurant offerings underwent an extensive refurbishment in October 2011.

We recently visited to have lunch. The process of getting a reservation is very difficult. They do not have a reservation system and so after messaging the hotel, I got a reply to call. Thankfully I do have family in jamaica that could call for me or this would have been a long distance call. After calling we received an email that requested a $20 per person deposit. NONE of this was discussed in the phone call. This is not an unusual request BUT they don't have a great way of getting this deposit. I was emailed a form that have to be filled out with all my personal info and Credit card number along with a signature. OR a direct bank transfer. NONE of this was easy or convenient. I never felt comfortable doing a form and I had no access to a bank transfer. My family was able to do a bank transfer. By this time we were on the fence about going but went anyway.
We arrived and were seated immediately. There were a few open tables but not many. The menu is not very large and immediately there were several items that were not available. I had a steamed fish that really had no flavor. Someone else had curry/oxtail duo which tasted good. We had several items but none really wowed us. The coctails were really good and I would recommend those.
$550US lunch for 6 felt very over priced for the quality of the food. I think the lunch menu needs to be expanded. I probably would not return.

12 miles up a very winding road you reach the hotel. Beautifully kept grounds and facilities and The best food we had in Jamaica .
Staff are friendly and very helpful, they can arrange any trips, or as we did- arrange a driver to take you on your own tour.
All public areas have amazing photos of bands, dignitaries and film stars .
Good library where you swap books. TV room if you feel the need.
Rooms are spacious and great views from the balcony.
Yoga pavilion with outstanding views . Just ask for a mat at reception.
Pool is quite cold but the views from it are worth it.
Quite possibly my favourite place in Jamaica.
The only downside is that if you want to go offsite it will cost you $50 for a taxi just to get to you. Our Kingston day was circa $250 for a driver plus entry into museums and food.
Lots of steps all around the property so not for those with mobility problems.
Top tip - take a torch , it can be dark and the steps tricky!

We were after a relaxing getaway and it did not disappoint. We arranged taxi from Kingston airport to the hotel and back through the hotel as we found it was cheaper. The driver was great, it was a long drive up a lot of winding roads but the views at the top were breathtaking.
We had a two bed cottage with two double beds. If you’re planning to self cater I’d say by the kitchen facilities there’s no point. The kettle was working though.

We booked a spa treatment and a day hike and both of those were perfect. We sat around reading and soaking in the views. It is an open air cabin so if you’re not used to the sounds of nature at night take ear plugs - tree frogs are loud! Beds were comfy and it was v clean throughout the stay. They also had scrabble.

The hotel area - restaurant, bar, pool were all lovely. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It’s worth going downstairs under the bar to see Chris Blackwells awards room.

The only downfall for me was the food, we ate dinner twice. We ended up going for breakfast at Cafe Blue every day which was about 15 min walk downhill. On the last night we went to a roadside place for fried chicken, rice & bean etc and it was the best & cheapest meal we had.

Disappointing! We booked a tour for our clients, paid Strawberry Hill Hotel the money they requested and still the client was requested to pay on site. This was on the 27th December 2023. Yet up to today the 12th March 2024, we are still calling them 3 or 4 times a week requesting a refund and they have been promising us a refund for nearly 3 months yet they fail to refund the money paid.

Their customer service is not the best, they ignore calls and messages, not sure what else to do to get our money back. Just be mindful when paying, frankly we have been taking guest to Strawberry Hill Hotel for years so we are extremely disappointing that they don't return their customers money.

It turns out they are quick to collect but slow to refund, if at all. Initially they told us that they would return the money after 6 weeks (how crazy is that?), well its been nearly 3 months and no matter how much we call and message them, all we get are promises.

Strawberry Hill sits in a stunning location overlooking Kingston with spectacular views day or night. It is a somewhat rustic retreat. Staff are attentive; the food is good. i would go back and give it a qualified recommendation..
Our group had three rooms, all rooms were small with only room for a single comfortable chair in a room for two people and no foot stool. Each room had a balcony with a table and two chairs.
Strawberry Hill bills itself as a luxury resort, but it misses the mark. There were too many small failings that disappointed. There was no orientation on check in. About half the red wines on the wine list weren’t available. One room fridge leaked and needed defrosting. One toilet was not flushing properly throughout the stay. Two of the safes in the rooms didn't work and one was never fixed. The electric bed warmers in two of the rooms weren’t functioning. One never got fixed. The main phone service to the hotel was down. The finials on the stairs to the room were rotting and if you held them for support they fell off the railings. The rooms could lock from outside but there was no way to secure the door when you were inside your room, which left us each with an uneasy feeling.
These were all small problems but there were too many to ignore. With better process management, attention to detail and staff training this property could easily become the luxury property it aspires to be.

My partner and I stayed at Strawberry Hill for four nights in December. My only regret is that I wish we had stayed for six or seven.

The team at Strawberry Hill is the best on the island. The crew at reception is lovely and they know how to make entry to (and staying at) the property easy and chill. Very soon after arriving we met Shelton who would be slinging some amazing drinks for us through our stay. Ricardo Bowleg is the GM and he's a true to pro. He's always around but not invasive. We most often dined with Jacette & Marva (sorry, spelling) and these two woman were amazing. Totally boss and knew our style after just one meal.

Our room was lovely as were the views. The bed heaters were an amazing addition, I feel lucky to have tested it because had no idea what it was when I originally saw the dial by the bed. Pro tip: set it before you go to dinner and you'll have no issues falling asleep in the cool evening air.

The restaurant was really impressive. Breakfast coffee was the best on our trip, fresh baked breads and muffins plus lovely a porridge (eggs were darn good too). We tended to have a light lunch by the pool most days since we were saving ourselves for dinner, sharing a sandwich was enough for us.
Dinner was generally a feast. All dishes were good. I'm a sausage lover and was not disappointed by that menu item. My only complaint with any of the food is that the portions are massive. Yes, we live in NYC so maybe that makes us biased but being a person who likes to try many things was a challenge. Perhaps it's a good problem to have for most of the guests though.
The bar was beautiful and as I mentioned earlier Shelton is really an ace. They have a good selection of local rum and Mr. Bowleg mentioned he'd be adding more in the future.

The grounds and general vibe of the hotel was beyond beyond. Amazing location, very quiet, no kids (thank you, this is not a kids hotel), fires (inside and out) every night, a chill pool scene (and a chilly pool! great to cool a high sun intake), tons of trees and flowers.

It really is a dream. We'll be a back for sure.

Absolutely stunning location - high in the hills above Kingston with fantastic views of the city and the hills. The gardens are beautiful.

The room and facilities in the room need some improvement - compared to our last visit it was looking a bit neglected. We had no kettle (assume there should have been one) and it took 8 hours to be brought down by housekeeping. We had an electric blanket on one bed but not the other.

We waited an hour at check in for them to change things over with the room - we had asked for twin beds and they had a double. That may be the reason our room wasn’t quite up to scratch as there wasn’t enough time to prepare it.

Staff in the bar are lovely and efficient.

Staff in the restaurant are pleasant but food took forever to arrive. It was very good when it did arrive.

The general manager is very sweet and comes round every day to check all is ok.

Basically the setting is unique and I would recommend a visit. But the general level of service needs a kick up the arse to warrant the high prices of a stay.

So we came here for a lunch, not a guest but just for a nice lunch with views.of the Our server Bernice was lovely. HOWEVER!!!,,, it took 1 hour for us to get appetizers! How is that normal service?! I contracted a car for 2 hours for lunch and it will cost me extra to extend the time to accommodate the extra time it will take to get the food. All served with the most aggressive flies Ive ever encountered (thats not their fault) honestly, its Unconscionable. Never again…

The place is amazing… THE STAFF ARE NOT. It was my birthday and my friend told the waiter to please bring a candle for me to make my bday wish. We thought maybe the waiter didn’t hear. He and another waitress sang happy birthday to the woman sitting across from us. When my friend said she asked him to sing me happy birthday and bring a candle so I could blow out a candle. When the check came and no birthday song or candle after especially asking for it we asked the waiter why he didn’t sing and he said he didn’t know why and he didn’t want to.

I’ve never been treated so incredibly rudely before especially on birthday. I blow out a candle every year for my birthday and this is the first time I have ever been denied that at a restaurant and for my birthday.

It was so disappointing and completely took away from my birthday experience at strawberry hill. We spent over 1,000k just that day at the resort for my birthday there and the waiter decided to ruin my birthday and not sing to me or bring a candle.

He did sing and bring a candle for the group exactly across from us. It was so hurtful and I would recommend that if you would like to come for your birthday do not go to strawberry hill and avoid the restaurant if you don’t want to be ignored and disregarded after giving them business.

I attended their breakfast with a friend. We arrived early without a reservation. We called for several days and was unable to reach someone and arrived early, 9 :30 am on a Sunday morning. As the hotel is a gated property, we were given entrance after confirmation from the staff in the office.

We parked and was escorted to the dining room. The property is perfectly manicured with breaking views of the Kingston. We were seated and paid our cover charge of $35 US for both of us dine.

Our server was polite and had a full command of the menu. She served coffee and tea. The wait for breakfast was a bit long but was very well presented. Breakfast, jamaican and an omelet with bacon and cheese and a glass of OJ totalled only $35 US.

We walked around and saw the rest of the grounds. A very nice morning.

When we were there in December we walked down to Blue Cafe and had lunch. The view was spectacular in. The food was very good. However, the walk back uphill to the resort was killer! It's about 3/4 of a mile straight uphill. Bring your hiking shoes!

Strawberry Hill is approx a 40 minute drive into New Kingston. The roads are in good condition and its a scenic winding drive down the mountainside. Several people go up and down everyday as they live around here and work in Kingston. Let me know if you need any other information.....happy to help. Diana Marley General Manager

All our cottages are A/C free. The architectural design allows for natural air circulation. Our elevation (3,000 ft.) makes most nights cool and comfortable; however for those warmer than usual summer nights, we have fans available. Please note that the resort will be closed from Sep. 4 to Sep. 22.
