Only accessible via steep steps and no lift available.
The rooms are small very out dated with steep stairs again to the upstairs room.
No airconditioning in the room.
Price for the room is too high for the quality you get.
This hotel is old and run down.
There is a very nice place at a nearby camping/holiday park what has great drinks and good pizza’s for a better price.
We’ll not recommend this hotel to other travellers.
- The room could be cleaner.
- No coffee and tea facilities in the room.
- the bathroom was slightly outdated.
The service was great. I am going back for sure.
At least if we thew our towels on the floor in the morning we got new ones in the evening. Make sure you have health insurance if you go to this hotel.
Dirty, dirty place, bugs including cockroaches, mice droppings, BED BUGS, dirty curtains, carpets - even blood stains on the wall. I couldn’t shower because the shower was full of daddy long legs and the towels they gave were yellowing.
Was meant to stay 2 nights but had to escape after night 1, the staff were rude and unhelpful and I don’t believe the accommodation is safe at all, sharing a ‘house’ with a stranger below in the middle of a forest, no phone in the room. Just thinking about it is making me angry. We travelled in a band of 30 and everyone felt the same. Really disgusting place.
We got a room on a top floor kind of like a loft. We had to climb a very narrow and small step, spiral staircase to get to our room, I think that is why our friends got a ground floor room, because no one in their right mind would want to carry a fold-up bed up that staircase. Both rooms had the usual European twin beds pushed together and were very comfortable. It is not really a hotel, it is more like groups of five side by side cabins with a loft room on top of each one. There are designated parking lots that are not really that close to the groups of cottages. We had to park in the main parking lot, which was pretty far away from our rooms, that wouldn't have been bad normally, but it rained quite a bit while we were there, and we were pretty wet by the time we got to and from the car. There is a nice indoor pool, sauna, and even a tanning bed on the premises. There is a pub, and above the pub is a restruant where you have your breakfast buffet every morning. The food was very good, eggs, pancakes, bacon, all types of breads, cereals, fruit, juices and coffee too. We were all very happy with our breakfast there. The rooms were pretty small, our friends that had the childs cot in their room were pretty cramped for space, our room didn't really have much extra space either. I would not give the hotel a great rating on cleanliness either, I had to keep telling myself that I was camping, more than staying in a hotel. The carpet and bedspreads were stained and I killed quite a few bugs in the bathroom, because the hotel is deep in the woods. I must say that it was very quiet there at night, you are out in the woods, so there is no noise from traffic at night, and even the people that were staying there, were very respectful of others. The front desk people were very friendly and can speak very good English. I guess for the price that we paid, that we got a pretty good deal, and I would stay there again, unless I was looking to stay at a 4 star hotel.
We arrived late in the evening and had to pay upfront for our stay. They had added 15 Euros per person late check out at 12pm on top of our booking and we also were charged 4x city tax. The normal check out is 12pm. Why should we pay late check out if this is the normal time? After discussing the extra 47.50 costs that I would not pay, as that was not what was on our booking, we were on our way to our rooms having paid the right price. The staff member actually tried to begin a discussion with me about the extra costs and that I was the one who asked for a late check out when all I had done on the booking was let them know we would be checking out at 12pm.
The rooms are extremely basic. We were told they had balconies. They did not. There were hairs in the bed and in the bathroom. I was not impressed. Also one of the 2 power points in the room was broken.
We were woken at 7am by a delivery truck for the hotel who had techno music on so loudly and unloaded his delivery for ten minutes with the music blaring. We all were woken up. Totally insane for the hotel staff to allow this to happen.
Upon checking out we were told we had to pay 12.50 per person for breakfast which we didn't even have. The staff member had the audacity to actually argue with me that her colleague had let her know we had all had the breakfast. Trying to make me out to be a liar.
NEVER staying here again and would recommend to others to rethink booking this hotel.
The internet connection did not function well, mails did not arrive ( for instance half an hour after leaving the hotel in the morning I stopped in a restaurant and suddenly arrived ... 28 mails),
Impossible to connect to my bank via internet !
Last but not least the price invoiced for the night was Eur 10 higher than confirmed via booking.com, we went back after and got the money back, but this should not happen.
Not a good experience at all this time.
Other than that, don't expect much. As others have already mentioned, it's not a typical hotel but more of an outdated holiday resort. It's not even close to being worth 4 stars. There are two rooms per building, using the same main entrance, and you have to pay extra if you want the ground level room - which is apparently also the only one with a kettle and coffee machine. The stairs to the first-floor hotel room are quite steep and not accessible to everyone.
The vibe it gave was 'sleeping over in your 70-year-old uncle/grandpa's attic'. The rooms are very old-fashioned, with no clock, an old radio you can't plug in because of the lack of outlets, and a bit of a musty smell. The 'two-person bed' is just two single beds pushed together, so if you want to be intimate with your partner or just sleep close together you will most definitely end up in the gap in between. The beds don't sleep great, either. There is no airconditioning so it gets quite hot in the summer with no way of cooling down, and the wifi is not too stable. There is also some mould in the shower, as well as rust, and the window in the bathroom does not open. The toilet sometimes refused to flush properly.
Breakfast was standard, don't expect any vegan options except for bread and peanut butter. You are allowed to take some stuff for lunch, though, which is nice. There is no fridge in your room however, so keeping things cool is not an option. Also bring your own cutlery, plate & cup if you plan on buying breakfast/lunch at a local supermarket, because the room only comes with two plastic-lined paper cups.
There is only one vegetarian main course on the restaurant menu, but the chef was very kind and made the vegetarian lunch options dinner-sized for us. Vegan would definitely be impossible, though. The restaurant and pool are also not that easily accessible for people in a wheelchair or with a walking impairment. Definitely get some sort of voucher or discount deal, otherwise the prices are way too high for what you get. You're not allowed to order food from Thuisbezorgd etc.
The pool is... well, it's not much. It's small but barely anyone goes for a swim there, so chances are you will have it all to yourself. Bring something like a diving game or a ball if you want to have anything fun to do. The showers don't really work and half of them only have cold water.
There is a tennis court but it will cost about 12 euros per hour to use it, and the 'sports fields' that are on the map they give you have become overgrown and cannot be used.
You're not allowed to park your bike next to/close to your building but there is an old shed-like building in which you can store your bike. There's also bikes for hire but we brought our own and so didn't look at the prices.
The staff members were quite nice and patient, though there was one older man in charge of the restaurant who gave off some really weird vibes and seemed a little haughty and annoyed.
So tl;dr: only go here if you won't be in your room much but are just looking for a place to stay while exploring the surroundings. There is no water kettle or coffee machine unless you pay extra. Not worth 4 stars at all.
