Hotel Schylge (4-stars) is in the lively harbour of the village West-Terschelling and has a wonderful view over the Wadden sea. The hotel views are dramatically influenced by the continuous movement of the sea and tidal changes. Hotel Schylge offers luxury and comfort. Restaurant 'Op West', one of the best on the island is led by star decorated chef Ton van Scheppingen. Within a short walk along the harbour you will find yourself in the charming village of West. Walking and cycle paths to the beach, woods and sea begin from both the front and back of the hotel. In the last few years Hotel Schylge has been largely renovated. The rooms have a luxurious designer feel but at the same time still manage to capture the unmistakable island feel.

Detailed Reviews
Perfect location just outside the small capital village of the island but everything is located within walking distance of the hotel. Beautiful views, do spend the extra money harbour view. Very quiet rooms guarnatee a good night sleep.
COVID measures are well respected. All the restaurants and bars on the island were closed during our stay but the hotel provides meals for their guests or you can order food in or pick it up tot a nearby take away.
We brought our own bikes so we really appreciated the garage where you can safely stall your bikes. After a day of biking/walking you can make reservation for the pool so each room gets about 30 minutes of pool time. The hotel could do with a bit of refurbishment left and right. But that's just a minor deatil during an overall splendid stay in a great hotel on a very beautiful island.

Nice hotel, nice staff. We had a deal and stayed 3 days in a family room including breakfast, complimentary bikes for 3 days and one three courses diner.
Room had two bedrooms and a living room with a small kitchenette with a fridge, kettle, Nespresso machine and other stuff.
Large bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower. There is a separate toilet. The room had sea-view with a balcony with a table and chairs.
One improvement point is that the living room needed just a little bit of TLC at one of the curtains and a ceiling.
We used the small swimming pool and sauna every day, which is nice.
The hotel has a bowling alley, which was fun for the whole family.

My fiancee and I stayed here during a recent long weekend break in May.
The hotel is situated in a great location a short walk (~15 mins) from the harbour / ferry from Harlingen.
The rooms are comfortable and are all approximately the same size, the only disappointment for us was that we were at the end of the hotel building and didn't have such a good view as most of the other rooms. My advice would be to avoid rooms *18 -*30 as these are all in the block that is set back from the main building. The doors of the rooms seem to have been inspired by a 1970's school, with very bright photographs, which isn't really in keeping with a four star(?) hotel, but at least you can't see it when you are in your room.
Otherwise we had a very enjoyable stay, the breakfast is served in the restaurant which has a wonderful view over the marina / harbour and town. The buffet offering is quite varied, with a good selection of cold cuts etc. The only disappointment were the eggs were somewhat rubbery as they appeared to have been over cooked before placing under the heat lamps? (I appreciate it is very difficult to maintain the quality of fried eggs on a buffet, so maybe the hotel might consider an egg station / chef cooking to order?)
The staff were very helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It’s an excellent hotel at a very reasonable price. The room was very spacious, with a sitting corner, complimentary tea/coffee, balcony, hair dryer and the most comfortable pillows. The bathroom was new and large with all you need. The staff is kind and helpful. There is a swimming pool, sauna and wellness area. There are bikes to hire, unluckily too high if you’re not tall (the e-bikes seemed somewhat better). Breakfast is included and superb.

Stayed for 4 nights in April. Pleasantly impressed with the hotel. Very clean, nice room, renovated bathroom with a great bathtub. Attention to details was also very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though the restaurant was not open because of Corona restrictions, they did a very good job with the breakfast. Prosecco for breakfast is a nice touch and not too decadent when on holiday.
Location is very good, parking is free. Transfer to and from the ferry is free (by Arriva bus).
I would certainly return to this hotel and I highly recommend it.

Fantastic hotel, and very efficient personnel. Dining, breakfast, and other amenities were great, as well as the location.
Our room overlooked the ocean, and provided great views.
Electric bikes were available from the hotel, which provided us with access to exploring the island.
GREAT PLACE!!!!!!!!

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the Island of Terschelling. This is a top notch hotel that offers pretty much everything from fine spaceous rooms to a superb restaurant, swimming pool, wellness and beauty spa, bowling alley, great staff, you name it. Whenever we will visit Terschelling again this wil be the hotel of our choice.

We made long walks through tje dunes, the forest and over the beaches. We were very lucky with crisp sunny weather. A lovely weekend.
