Excellent spa facilities and hotel rooms
The bedrooms were very comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished. They include a small kitchenette with fridge and coffee making facilities. The spa facilities were also excellent. I’ve never seen so many hydrotherapy jets and jacuzzis in one hotel. We enjoyed the sound bath, massages and floatarium. There was a daily programme of wellness activities including yoga, Pilates, sound baths etc. The staff on reception were excellent, with an efficient and friendly check in / check out. The buffet breakfast was good with a wide selection of hot, cold and wellness breakfast items. The major downside was the restaurant and bar service. There were very few staff available to serve food and drinks, so dinner service was incredibly slow despite the best efforts of the waiters / waitresses. It is a short 10 minute walk to the restaurants in town so we found this was a reliable alternative option for speedy service and a wider menu. There are restrictions around pool access for children. Accommodation in building 2 has a large pool that is accessible to 5-12 year olds. In building 1, there is a small unheated pool for 5-12 year olds (very cold water even in mid August) and an aqua play area for small children. The other pools in building 1 are exclusively for over 12s. Building 2 is better for families as it also houses the kids club, but the differences between the two buildings weren’t clear when we booked. The styling at the hotel is eclectic. It has a unique maximalist style with an incredible array of colourful props and lighting styles in every space of the hotel. We found it fun, but not a hotel for minimalists. The Augusta is primarily a spa with excellent accommodation. If it can improve its food and drink offerings, it would truly deliver on its ‘relax’ promise. More broadly, Sanxenxo has a lovely beach and lively seafront with lots of restaurants and ice cream shops.
Dear Claire, We´re glad to know we offered you a service that met up to your expectations. That´s the real goal of all the more than 100 people working here, in the Augusta Spa Resort, with the best spirit service. We really want you to stay trusting in us for the future. Rest assure because each one of us will put our maximum effort to get that last star on your review. Kindly and always at your disposal Nuria Acuña Subdirección

    My new Spanish home
I had the pleasure of staying at Augusta 1 for 9 nights and it was like a home away from home to me. Firstly the reception team who greeted me - Jacqueline, Miguel and Alba - were very friendly and helped with room/special requests. Everyday I had a great breakfast from the extensive choice of hot/cold buffet with much of the produce grown and made on site. Having a juicer was amazing too! Dinner at Potus restaurant was equally good, the food was simple yet delicious , fresh and often with a Galician (local) twist - I received fantastic service from Gustavo, Vanessa, Alex, Fran, Ernesto and Artem. The Spa was my key reason for visiting and I had expert treatments such as massage , facials with the utmost professional service from Lucia, Cris P, Javier, Kilani and Monica. I recommend however that there is at least a high level description / list in English of the spa treatments or at least a QR code (I think this is in the works) Also a timer in the flotarium would be good as I had to rely on someone reminding me to finish up. Overall the resort lived up to expectation, it has a homely yet eclectic boutique feel, I suggest to the team to consider more English tv channels as the only one is BBC news. Thank you for a great stay and I will definitely be back again!

We wanted to like this place but it fell far short of value. We stood in line for 45 mins with two small kids in order to just check in, only one person checking in lines of guests at the height of the season. Although we speak three languages, that was not a barrier. The interest in providing good service was. Nothing about the resort was explained so we really didn’t know what was going on. The checkout process was equally as long. The kids facility from playgrounds to pools were broken, non functional and extremely dirty. Large spiders were all of the kids pool area, rocks in the kids pool and overcrowded. The steam sauna was non functional and only one of two Swedish saunas was actually hot. Our rooms lock was broken, the hammock was broken, many items in the bathroom were broken. We couldn’t complain about it because no one answers the phones, probably because they are so busy checking people in and out. The breakfast was lacking in freshness, quality and consistency. The juicer was often broken, egg shells in the scrambled eggs, no coffee at one point. No table linens, forks knives, we had to get them ourselves. At one point when asking a staff member a question, basic about locations of things at the resort. She walked away saying she didn’t know and left. Just sad it didn’t live up to its hype and it was likely once a nice place. Not maintained and understaffed now.

This is our second visit. Our first visit around two years ago was fantastic. My kids were enjoying all the spa facilities at Augusta 2 without problem. They always want to come back. But our second visit was really disappointed. As we were only three of us, a 6 and 3 and half years old kid and my self. While we were enjoying the big pool, a stuff came and told me that this pool is for min 6 years old, so we had to move to the baby pool. I can not leave my 6 y/o girl alone in the big pool. They sell the hotel as kids friendly but they don’t really have things for kids in spa. One Baby pool and one pool for minimum 6 years old. The rest are for minimum 12 years old. Means baby until 6 years old they will have to stay only in the baby pool. Of course they will get bored. At the end my 6 years old only sitting down watching mobile phone as I can not company her to the big pool, I had to stay with the small one because he is not allowed to go to the big pool. If it is for safety reason I am sure they are safe because they are stick to the parents, second with the amount of money they charge they can hire a lifeguard! They sell the hotel for minimum stay of 2 night. How can you expect toddler to play for 2 days only at babypool??? Before you book the hotel think twice is your toddler will be happy only in the babypool or you will fight all day long not to go to the bigger pool!!

Dear Pia, First of all, allow me to thank you for having recently chosen us, once again, as a destination to enjoy a relaxing getaway with your children. We hope you enjoyed your stay, although we regret that the rules for using our swimming pools, aimed solely and exclusively at guaranteeing the full enjoyment of the little ones with the greatest guarantees of safety while facilitating the comfort of all our clients, do not were to your complete liking. Note on the other hand that only with some promotions and offer rates, and on some dates, we require a minimum stay of 2 nights. We're sorry if there was any confusion about it. We hope Pia will continue to have your trust and welcome you back to your home in the Rías Baixas. Very truly yours,

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in a Family Room in Building 2 and were delighted by everything. The room had a great kitchenette, a balcony with a hammock overlooking the pool, and a sunken living area with a pull-out sofa bed big enough for 2. The A/C was powerful and wifi was excellent. We didn't realized the outdoor pool was heated too, so that was a great surprise! It is divided into 2 sections : 12 and over with loungers and jets and 6 and over on the only side. My kids were a little confused by this at first and desperately wanted to try out the loungers, but were told to stay away. There was a nice baby pool, as well. Breakfast was the same all 3 days with lots of options, but a change in the main dish would have been nice. The Caribbean pool in building 1 was a lot of fun too (not heated). You're allowed to use their Smart car to get to it if you wish. The game room was fun for the kids for a while. Nice, easy walk to the beach and to all the great restaurants in town. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to someday return.

Overall we’ve enjoyed the stay and must say the staff was very friendly and the food in the restaurant was truly great. But when spending over 330€ per night expectations are somewhat high and they were not really met. We considered other options but went for this hotel due to the kids friendly pitch…so few free of charge tips to high-end hotel that target families - Don’t play live music below the guest's bedrooms until midnight. Most young kids sleep after 22… also their parents - Don't call a large room “a suite”. You can call it “executive” or “deluxe”. Most hotels use the suite to two-rooms or more. When you call it a suite that is what most people expect. As a family, you want the extra room when the kids are finally in bed… - Ask the gardener not to operate machines that make loud noise early in the morning - Don't call the room at 14:00 to ask what the guests think of the service as the parents and kids might be taking an afternoon nap… - ...also don’t call at 14:00 to ask when to come by and clean the room (that was empty from 9-12) when there is a “don’t disturb” on the door. Same reason.. - Invest in a decent coffee machine for breakfast or provide decent coffee in the rooms. Most hotels have already figured that out. - As a beach/pool hotel make it easy to change towels. It shouldn’t be that complicated - A kids pool should have plenty of shade and shouldn’t have gravel (yes…small stones) around it…

Me and my family stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and we feel very good. The room was spacefull and bright, and with a lovely balcony, where we can see very beautiful panoramic views. Despite the location wasn't very good, the breakfast was amazing. I want to talk about the pools and the SPA, there are extremely good and nice. The SPA treadment was specially good and luxury. The price was a bit expensive, but we stayed very confortable.
