Disrespectful email sent to me from Ericeira Surf Camp after I requested some information about their insurance policy prior to my planned surf course: "regarding your really strange insurance issue, I will send you the details latter today. as you may believe you far from being our only client and we NEVER had this type of questions and so many worries. we cant really understand your issue with that and hope something strange dosnt " happen" so, just to let you know, if you are not 100% healthy or if we think there´s something strange with you, we will not give you surf lessons and we return you the money." I had booked a surf stay at Ericeira Surf Camp back in 2018. I thought the hostel seemed amazing and was super excited to try surfing for the first time but unfortunately had to cancel my stay because of a really bad an insulting conversation with the hostel staff prior to my trip to Portugal. Since it was my very first time surfing, I was nervous about the possibility of getting an injury. Therefore, I wanted to make sure that I would be covered by insurance so I would not end up in a situation where I would need to pay a huge medical bill. So I requested some information about the insurance policy from Ericeira Surf Camp. I explained to them that my own travel insurance did not cover surfing and I would need to buy an extra insurance package if the surf school/hostel did not have insurance. Apparently, this was not an appropriate request/concern according to Ericeira Surf Camp. After reading the insulting email, I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. I ended up booking into a different surf hostel, which was much more respectful and understanding. Funnily enough, on my first day of surfing another girl fell from her board and landed on the rocks and got a bad injury that had to be treated. This confirmed the importance of making sure that a company has a proper insurance policy. Note: obviously this was a problem with the office staff. I cannot make any comments about the surf instructors.…
No breakfast, no kitchen and no guest in the hostel... it was a very creepy wibe, I don't recommend staying there unless you like beeing in a ghost hostel The surf lessons with Luis were good but we only went to Matadouro
Booked solo trip and wasn't sure what to expect. Nuno and team,Jans,Christina,Gee,Isabel were amazing instructors! Teresa and Poalo were so welcoming on arrival.Made so many news friends. Hostel is super clean and best location in heart of town only 5 minutes walk to beach. Definitely the cheapest European city ive ever been to. I certainly will return!
I booked a last minute trip to Ericeira and stayed at ESC. The website for this surf camp attracted me and I was not disappointed. Contact via email and WhatsApp with Nuno, the owner was quick and professional. I was picked up from the airport and enjoyed a 35minute drive back to the camp with thier driver Paulo. We got back just in time for sunset which was perfect. On arrival I was greeted and checked in by lovely Isabel, was given my keys and a tour of the hostel. It is such a cosy relaxed clean and quiet place to stay, all guests were cool to hang out and surf with. The staff are very friendly and happy to help with anything. I stayed in a single room as I was travelling solo, but double, twin and mixed dorms are also available. Perfectly situated in an amazing part of town and within walking distance to the beaches. Surf lessons also include free transport to other beaches. I love this place, would recommend to anyone and I look forward to my return in October.…
I went for the second year in a row to ericeira to surf. I had great intermediate lessons in a small group with Nunu, which is a patient, calm and motivating teacher.. really enjoyed the tailored lessons. Moreover, they had really nice and new material (wetsuits and boards), not the old crap you sometimes get at surfschools.
