This was my first holiday post-COVID and I knew I'd made a great choice as soon as I arrived. The team are super friendly and keen for you to feel at home. It's the most sociable yoga holiday I've ever been on with a great mix of people. The beds are comfy and there was loads of space to store clothes, cases etc. I will definitely be returning!
Everything at Salty Pelican was top notch from the amenities, activities, food, staff, cleanliness etc... I honestly would compare it more to staying at a hotel rather than a hostel for the quality of the stay! Been to a lot of hostels and by far it was the nicest one I've ever stayed at. Shoutout to Lindsey the manager for going above and beyond.. she even gave me a lift to catch my bus I was going to miss! The same sense of hospitality goes through to all the staff. I hope to come back or visit one of the other properties they have!
Lovely place to stay! Great friendly and helpful staff that will make you feel welcome and at home. Loved the morning and evening yoga classes by Lindsay; they are really relaxing, inspiring and fun! Enjoyed the great surf classes at the Matadouro beach a lot! The hostel has a great view of ocean, a really nice pool & delicious food! Everything is perfectly clean and taken care of. Can’t wait to come back for the third time!
The Salty Pelican in Ericeira was the perfect place for me to stay traveling by myself. The room, terrace and bathroom was clean, a lot of space to hang out and relax. The staff is amazing!! Everybody is friendly, helpful and the whole place is very well organized. Breakfast is awesome aswell. And there is space to store your luggage in case you want to hangout before leaving for your flight. My highlight were the yoga classes, Lindsay is a great yoga teacher, I loved every single class during my stay. All activities are well thought through and well planned. Can’t wait to be back!
I've been in Salty Pelican Sri Lanka few times, it's an awesome place with nice atmosphere, super friendly staff family and very clear and positive energy! Once Salty family invited me to play an Ecstatic dance party there, such an amazing experience of freedom and celebrating the life we had that night! Location is a perfect spot for dancing and any kind of body & spiritual practice, their shala is great! Looking forward to repeat it again! With all the best, Dj @Kalisa_ecstatic 🌈💃🔥
This yoga retreat was just what I needed. I was stressed and working way too much so booked myself in for a week in October. Ericeira is a beautiful little down, very relaxing, seems to be eternally sunny, wonderful restaurants, lots of beaches. The retreat was great. Everyone was lovely and friendly, I intended to have a lot of solo time but the other people were just so like minded I couldn’t help but make friends. Nearly all solo travellers, lots of people of a similar age (I’m 32), the yoga classes were lovely, the place was lovely, really enjoyed myself. Area for improvement - there felt like a constant queue for the showers / toilets, if you could find a way to add a few more that would be ideal! I would most definitely recommend and return.
My stay at the Salty Pelican in Ericeira span over 10 days. The time I spent there was really high quality, when I left it even had a little family vibe. I really enjoyed the benefits of the Yoga and Surf package. Two times yoga a day and seven surf lessons over the course of my stay was all I could wish for my getaway. The nearby old town/city center of Ericeira invites to stroll and take a coffee or 3, charms with a lot of cute little places, gives the laidback surf vibe and allows lovely beach walks. The food at the Salty Pelican itself was made with lots of love and fresh everyday. The staff went beyond for the BBQ and tapas events. I felt really welcome all of the time I spent there, specially since I was there in December during low season and it was quite quiet for some times. So, to conclude my review: I learned a lot about myself, surfing, and found back to my love of practicing yoga. Had a great time with the people I met there (also a lot of solo travelers). Over all I can really recommend the place and the experience I made. Thanks for having me!…
I dont even know where to start!!!! Travelling solo for the first time can be daunting... but not when you stay in a place like the Salty Pelican in Ericeira. I wish I could have stayed longer!!! I booked the short surf and yoga retreat with them & I can honestly say if i could have stayed on longer I definitely, definitely would have. The staff are so welcoming, acommodating & helpful. It is like a home away from home! The people that were staying there as well also made it a trip to remember - everyone at the time was solo travelling so it was great getting to know everyone. The yoga classes were an absolute dream. Especially the Yin Yoga - I think I could have quite possibly fallen asleep for a few minutes in one class.... it was THAT relaxing!! You can really feel the instructors/staff have a passion for what they do - their energy feeds into their guests. It's no wonder people want to extend their stays. The surf lessons are also great - and good fun! Nothing beats been out on the ocean in the morning - you, the board & the water. A good combination of beginners & intermediate lessons so they really do acommodate for everyone. The food - breakfast is included in the price & it is well worth it. Delicious start to each & every day. We also had a BBQ night & a tapas night while i was there - i know I've said it already but the staff really do go above & beyond. Great evening both evenings & a really great way to get to know everyone. AN ABSOLUTE GEM & AN ABSOLUTE MUST STAY if ever visiting Ericeira. Thanks a million. There's no doubt I'll be returning!…
I spent the last week of my solo trip in Portugal at the Salty Pelican in Ericeira, and it was the best idea. The place is beautiful and very well decorated. The pool was great especially during the warm days, to cool down and relax. Yoga teachers were amazing and you could feel their passion when you were practicing. The staff was great and always available to help with anything. Ericeira is a beautiful little town, so if you do not like big cities and big crowds this is the place for you.
I stayed in the salty pelican in Ericiera for 10 days and was so sad when my trip was over. It was my first solo trip but I never felt alone there. The people who were there during my stay were so friendly and open we all become one big friend group. Most people I met were solo travelers also. It was the most beautiful hostel I’ve stayed in with both great indoor and outdoor places to relax, a beautiful pool and great doorm rooms! They food and drinks are great with beautiful breakfast included which they got in gluten free breakfast. The fruit in particular was so tastey! The sunset is visible from the hostel which is an added bonus! The yoga classes were incredible- the sunrise yoga to the sound of the waves on the pier and the yin on the sun terrace could not have been more dreamy! It reignited by yoga passion- the teachers were excellent! The surfing was so great also- the teachers were very attentive and created groups of different levels as there was no official intermediate class during my stay, but the splitting into abilities meant I improved and learnt lots even as an intermediate! The staff were so kind, friendly and helpful and did everything in their power to give us a wonderful stay! I cannot wait to go back again! …
