Don't get me wrong - you get what you pay for in life and this place was cheap when we went. The food was good and the pool area was nice. I'ts very close to the nightlife and the beach and the rooms were clean. It's a good, basic hotel overall.

Sadly on the last day, we went to check out and our transfer was at around 3pm. They cut our half board wrist bands and told us that we would not be able to get lunch there despite this being included in the holiday. Their argument was that the last lunch was not included and the one on the first day was. I explained that we were not able to get the lunch on the first day as the flight didn't arrive until 9pm. They didn't care until it became a big argument at reception and only then they gave us a ticket for lunch. Having an argument on the last day of holiday when you're already due to go home is not nice!

Came here 2 days ago (17/4) and the dread when I read review's. Looking back some people are so picky. It's basic but clean. We're in block 2 on 6th floor. Met 3 different staff members on reception. Very friendly and polite. Staff by pool also helpful and polite. Maid service around yesterday to clean. Told her it's fine. I'm a big girl. I can make a bed, brought plenty of towels but got extra toilet roll and the bin empty. If that toilet roll runs out and she's not back...guess what? For a couple of quid I'll buy a packet in the shop instead of moaning and creating an issue just so we can wipe our bits lol. Got a remote for tv. €10. Returned when we bring it back. Kids looking for Wi-Fi which is only in reception, I've told them go play. Not here to sit on tablets and laptops all day. Rudely awoken at midnight last night. Some eejit singing outside. Guess what too? They were having a laugh. It lasted 2 min and went back to sleep. Sure if it happens tonight I'll let a roar at them! The seagulls (read here somewhere) yep, there's s couple outside now and the birds are singing. I guess it's because we're beside the sea and its a beautiful morning. Didn't want to be lying in bed anyway. This place is what you make of it. Balcony is a fine size. Fridge and microwave works. Shower is hot. Oh, kids got small piece of chocolate on their pillow. So I flipped the thing over instead of blaming the maid. I'm sure she'll be back. If not who cares, there's spare pillows in the wardrobe. We're self catering so no idea what food is like here. Other than that we're having a great time. Anything to avoid drama and moaning is my game. Lastly... I wondered if I was just "lucky" and got a decent room. But my sister is on a completely different floor and her rooms fine too. If you've booked here don't be panicing. Look at how cheap the place is! For what we paid would just about get you a family room for 1 night in Dublin. Couple of tips, as it's off season the excursions are cheaper so don't book online. They really try to get you to go. So see the reps on the strip. Don't forget your travel plug. I also threw an extension lead into the suitcase to charge phone's. There's also all you can eat buffets up on the strip. €13 adult €6 Kids. Haven't tried yet but will today. I'd happily book here again in future

2 years ago me, my partner and at the time almost 2 year old son went on OUR FIRST family holiday and we stayed at this lovely hotel all inclusive..... We arrived and were shown to our room in a quick order after first signing a few papers.. The room was nice and clean, old fashioned but not a problem as it gave you the Portugese feel, the staff were amazing and we even made little bonds with a few of them, the rest of the hotel was nice and clean, drinks were always there to get. The games room for us was a big deal every night we would grab a few drinks and Pringles from the bar and then head off to the games room where my son enjoyed going on the helicopter or the digger, he also enjoyed the sitting on the motorbike game with me, there was also prize games to play, me and my misses enjoyed playing the air hockey, pool or even the basketball game where we went head to head and it got heated lol... The entertainment was really good, our first proper night they brought in some parrots that could speak and other things we got a picture with me and my son holding them, they even three a quiz night where you had teams. The walk to the beautiful beach was nothing 5 mins if that has a nice amount of bars on the beach to get drinks from, next to the beach is the stripe where all the shops are from restaurants to souvenirs shops and ice cream parlours.

The only thing I would say wasn't good was he good especially the breakfast was hit and miss, well breakfast was never good for me but lunch and dinner were 50/50 but never really bad and the pool was freezing way too cold and tasted like salt way too much. Besides these two little things we all loved the holiday, the hotel, the staff and the destination and we would 100% go again.

The first night my wife over did it with wine and I had to help her to bed. No bother really, she was just a bit unsteady. The second night the bar manager said to me as I ordered drinks “Yesterday the lady had to much to drink. This must not happen again. Or we will have to cut the drinks. Understand?”. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! We were on holiday for goodness sake and we were mature grown ups! We were treated like scorned teenagers. They were so unbelievably rude when we had paid thousands for this holiday. It felt like we were captors and they were watching us. I won’t spend thousands of pounds of my money just to be insulted and bullied like a child.

Close to Praia da Rocha, 10 min walk.

Some things that would be present according to the apartment's specification:
•You had to pay 5 euros for 2 sunbeds and a parasol by the pool.
•The pool area was quite run down, not renovated for a long time.
•The sofa bed was a disaster, no comfort. It was completely worn out. No padding, creak as soon as you moved. The extendable part even fell apart the last 3 nights, so we had to fix it temporarily.
•Couldn't open the fridge completely because then the counter took over.
•Area 80 m2 - rather 50 m2.
•Fitness center did not exist.
•There had been smoking in the apartment.
•Wi-Fi in all areas, no, it was only in the apartment.
•Free parking it would be, packed all the time. No free place for the whole week. Had to park in a public car park 500 m from the accommodation.
•No private beach as it said.
•Far from soundproof, you could hear everything. Both from the corridor, in the walls and from above.
•Spa in the apartment, does a shower count as a spa? •There was no desk.
•Free toiletries, no had to buy yourself. •Toilet paper, had to buy myself.
•Found 2 toasters, both were broken.

All this was pointed out to the property owner, he was supposed to fix it, but then nothing happened. He would pay what we had put out for the sunbeds by the pool, if we wrote a good review, but only after the review. So we can forget that now.
Overall far from value for money and not recommended.

It's so nice to read positive reviews on here about Clube Praia Da Rocha recently as there have been too many negative reviews. My children and I have visited and stayed at this hotel over 30 times since 1991. Yes it may need modernising, but the new hotel owners are doing this and have made improvements. I have never, ever met a rude member of staff at this hotel. Ever. You will often find the same members of staff year after year, all of which are friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I remember my daughter being sick in the restaurant when she was little and we apologised, offered to clean the mess (which they refused and their staff cleaned it) and ten minutes later, the staff brought trays of food up to our room as they didn't want us to be hungry. That was many years ago, but they often go out of their way to help people. On my recent trip, I slipped getting out of the shower and broke my arm. Again the staff were wonderful and done everything they could to help us. I love this hotel. It is genuinely a lovely place and I smile the minute I arrive until the minute I leave. The food is always lovely and plentiful, rooms are clean and the atmosphere is good. Also, if there IS a problem, speak to reception who will always sort it out for you. I have never, ever had a problem they couldn't resolve. I think some of the negative feedback is because people want to pay for a cheap holiday and expect 5 star. It isn't, it's 3 star and lovely! Praia Da Rocha itself is amazing. We were considering going to Lagos or maybe Spain next year, but after two days of online searching, nothing came close to Praia Da Rocha and as my 14 year old son said today: 'Let's go back to Clube Praia Da Rocha, at least we know it's a great hotel and the food is nice'. He's been going since he was in the womb!
Oh, there are photos on here of the block across the road (with the green interior and drained pools). This was an all inclusive block of the hotel back in the late 90's/early 2000's which closed. It appears they are now in the process of bringing this beautiful block back to life and letting some rooms out. It was truly stunning when it was fully open years ago. You can use all the facilities of the main block if you are placed there, and the apartments on that side have air con which you don't have in the main blocks 1 and 2. The rooms are bigger and more modern.
If you have any questions about this hotel or resort, please contact me if I can help with anything. I know it like the back of my hand! Happy holidays :-)

Went here in October for a week myself ,husband and 15yr son ..as we arrived we entered the two block hotel as advertised to check in looked ok ..then we were told we are to be put in tower 3 ..yes tower 3 so I asked where was tower 3 to be told it was over the dual carriageway on the other side of the road away from all the hotel amenities as advertised ..im presuming we were sent there as we weren’t all inclusive we were self catering anyway after a few harsh words with the manger we thought give it a go ...well what can I say the tower was dinghy dark and dismel the rooms looked like they hadn’t had any work done to them since 1800’s & no amenities what so ever ..it was all I can say a dump one step up from a hostel ....in fact I have stayed in better hostels ....so im far from a snob ..I went to the manager the next morning to complain and ask to be moved into the hotel blocks we had booked to be told no if you Dnt like it change your hotel ..the cleaner came with clean towels on the evening of the night before we left that was after constant complaining about it ...please do not waste your money going here ...I have waited so long to do a review because I’ve been in dispute with alpharooms who I booked through for a apology and for them to advertise this hotel as it really is because I see it as false advertisement only to be told they are just the agents nothing they can do and alpharooms are not covered by abta as I found out when I escalated my complaint to them .....PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY .....as you can see from one of my photos the hotel we actually thought we were staying in is over the road .....lucky for us my family got on with it had a fab holiday Praia de rocha is a beautiful place

We are here at the moment, 3 days into a 14 night stay. 2 families 4 adults and 4 kids aged between 11 and 3. Cannot believe some of the rubbish written on here. Having read every review since we booked in January, we were panicking that this holiday was going to be a disaster..heres the good bit..it isn't and it's absolutely fine.
Rooms are basic but perfectly liveable and clean..is it the Hilton?? No..what it is is functional.
Food..plenty to eat for all tastes, fresh salads, veg, meats etc..snack bar is great too. Kids don't go hungry..not heard any complaints.
Everyone moaning about queues..never waited once at the pool bar for longer than 2 mins..theres a small wait at night but no longer than a wait at a town centre bar. Beers good, soft drinks cold.
Staff are great, pool area is brill..yeah it's salty but doesn't bother the kids.great idea paying a euro for the sunbed..stops the towel brigade. Beach is beautiful..shopping area lovely.
In summary..if you are your average hard working family looking for a cheap break in the beautiful Portuguese sunshine, you won't go wrong. If you like a moan and are a glass half empty type of person, spend a bit more an go elsewhere. We cannot complain at all.
Here's to the rest of the holiday...

Cheers!
