Casa Porta Azul”, a 19th century farmhouse which during the last 20 years, was used in some way or another, as a guest house. The building has now been completely renovated with a view to maintaining it’s old rustic charm, but with the latest, and highest standard of luxury. All rooms and apartments have their own entrance and terrace. The fruit and palm trees provide beautiful shady places out of the sun. In the heat of the day you can cool off in our (heated) swimming pool. You can also relax in our Jacuzzi while enjoying the lovely surrounding. In our kitchen and pool bar you can always get yourself a cold drink.

It has been an absolute delight to stay at Casa Porta Azul. It’s such a beautiful B&B, located in Boliquieme, approx 20 min drive from Faro airport and a short drive to various lovely beaches. The B&B is comprised of only seven rooms and three apartments, which keeps the vibe very relaxed and peaceful. The lovely pool and jacuzzi are almost always empty! The self-serve bar is well stocked and very reasonably priced. The four course meals in the evening were absolutely stunning - quality food, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The two evenings we ate here were the best meals we had during our holiday. The hosts also offer a BBQ service - they prepare all of the (delicious) food and light the bbq, you cook your food and then they do all of the clearing up! The breakfast each morning was an assortment of cold meats/cheese/fruit/freshly baked bread and the option for hot food too. The rooms are kept very clean and fresh towels provided each day. You are also provided with a lounging towel and an individual cover for the sun beds. Sylvia and Matthias are a pleasure to be around and they simply can’t do enough for their guests. They have lots of local knowledge and gave us great advice for places to visit. If you want total relaxation then this is the place for you. If you want a party, it’s probably best to go elsewhere.

A very nice, small scale, place where they take very well care of their guests. Sylvia and Matthijs create an informal atmosphere where you feel at home. On Tuesday and Friday they cook themselves; highly recommended!

Breakfast and lunch served everyday in the terrace We put our daughter to bed and enjoyed the excellent dinner on Tuesday and Friday. Sylvia and Matthijs(Dutch Owned but both speak perfectly good English) are lovely and there hospitality second to none, friendly and helpful! This is a small 7 apartment guest house with outside Pool and Jacuzzi, public bar on trust, just leave your room number and what you have had from the bar! Breakfasts were fantastic and set you up for the day as most people hire a car who stay here as its 15km from Albuferia and around 25KM to Faro airport where you can hire a car ! We were meeting up with a couple from Holland and hiring a car together ! This was a most enjoyable holiday, with Matthijs help on the local towns and beaches, we visited some lovely places and even went to the St-Tropez of Portugal which is the Marina town of Vilamoura , the old fishing village of Alburferia and one of the top ten beaches in the world and many small unheard of interesting places including a town full of many artists and a museum in the middle of the mountains. ! When we were flying home, Matthijs even made us a full packed breakfast as we were leaving the early hours of the morning, so thoughtful! We will be going back most definitely as it was a great BASE to plan different places to visit every day and so much to see! They also do two evening meals a week, which is a 4 course meal for 35 euros, which was excellent! Oh and the BEDS, they were so comfortable, you just don't want to get out! You are in the wilds here, so hearing owls all night, the cockerels at sunrise is all part of the magic at Casa Porta Azul! Mark And Bev. ...XXX

Our second visit and stay at Casa Porta Azul is also fab. The hospitality offered by Sylvia and Matthijs is great and difficult to find elsewhere. The accommodation is well maintained with a large, beautiful garden complete with swimming pool. Ideal for couples as well as for families. Sylvia's cooking is not to be missed (2 times/week). The location is well situated for trips exploring the Algarve.

The young people running this B&B are really friendly. When you arrive, they offer you a drink and make some time to have a chat. They explain a little bit about the B&B, the restaurants nearby, things to do in the region, ... All with a big smile, what makes you feel welcome immediately. When I was ill, I got some medicines and they brought breakfast to the room. So kind! Breakfast is delicous and varies every day (fresh juice, perfect coffee, fresh fruit, different kinds of bread, a variety of jam/meat/cheese). This B&B is for people who don't like busy and crowdy hotels. Big heated pool with jacuzzi and very comfortable sun beds. The only disadvantage is that you have to take the car to have lunch or dinner. Rooms are very clean and you receive fresh towels every day. We are definitely going back when we visit Portugal again!

My wife and I stayed in this charming Bed and Breakfast run by a young Dutch couple, Sylvia and Matthijs. The service that is offered is fantastic. Nearly anything is possible, including a twice weekly dinner prepared by former restaurant chef Sylvia. Casa Porta Azul is ideal for people who want to get away from the masses, but does offer the possibility to reach the beaches within less than 20 minutes. A car is however essential, not only for access to the beaches, but also to drive to one of the many restaurants that can be found within a few miles of the hotel We said last year that we would be back, and have decided to return again this year.
