There is a parking garage, but you cannot reserve space. The driveway is at the back of the hotel, a bit tedious to reach because very winding. If a seat is available, reception will assign one later. They are all quite narrow and not designed for SUV & Co.
At check-in there was only one person at the reception and already a long line of waiting guests in front of us. In addition, one of the two lifts was out of service, so long waiting times with the luggage there as well. And to top it all off, a somewhat unpleasant smell (frying fat?) ran through the whole house.
The room was fine and modern.
The restaurant is probably under reconstruction, instead breakfast was set up in two seminar rooms. There was far too little space for the many guests of the house, there was chaos in the table search, the corridor to the room was blocked with serving trolleys. The breakfast offer was more than meagre - hardly any choice and it was refilled too slowly. The staff were visibly frustrated. The coffee was just inedible.
Even from a 3-star hotel you can expect more. Maybe we were unlucky with the rebuilding and repair work, but unfortunately it turned out to be a disaster for us.
Room was old and the bed was uncomfortable in my opinion.
When I wanted to check out the man just said "Wait". That was very strange. All in all, not the usual Hilton standard.
In principle the hotel reflects the good characteristics of the Hampton chain: it’s functional, it has modern infrastructures and appliances, there is abundance of amenities, it has pleasant design, breakfast is included; but there are also some inconveniences. The space in the standard rooms is very limited: one person without bags will be at ease, but we were two persons with bulky bags and we found it difficult to settle conveniently; about 80 % of the rooms have this limited size, as shown by the map posted in the "evacuation plan". The room totally lacks places where to store garments and personal items, since the wardrobe is without shelves and there are no chest drawers. There is no refrigerator, an amenity nowadays universally provided. The double beds are narrow (150 centimetres = 59 inches).
Annoyingly, the comfort of the stay was weakened by certain peculiar management choices. Air conditioning is a standard amenity in the common areas, but cannot to be taken for granted in the rooms; when I arrived it was inactive and I immediately asked to reactivate it; on account of this, I was interrogated at length and requested to give good reasons "why" I wanted air conditioning; my reasons were probably good and finally the receptionist agreed to switch on the A/C for my room, which was made by means of a remote control located in the back of the reception. Each room is supposedly equipped with a “laptop size safe” (as claimed in the hotel web site, “queen room” page), but my room was lacking; safe boxes are available at the reception, but they are insufficient in number to meet the demand (I had to wait two days before having one). The room is equipped with an electrically powered laundry drier, but this device is now disconnected: the housekeeping manager confirmed that it is not available. Most rooms have a balcony, but it is of little avail since there are no seats. Housekeeping service is very good (and cleanliness too), but it is probably understaffed: I stayed 5 nights, and my room was always made-up late in the afternoon; in one case it was ready only at 6:15 p.m. Tea and coffee are provided daily to the room, but no drinking water is supplied, although the reception warned us not to drink the tap water. The business centre was in an unsatisfactory state: the printer was out of order throughout my stay; there are three computers, one of which worked correctly, a second one operated occasionally, and the third one was so poorly configured as to find it difficult to talk to selected web sites (e.g. Swissotel, Telecom mail, Clarks Hotels of India); there are no ports for connecting flash memories, so it was impossible to work with my personal data nor to record the results of my work; essential software (such as "Google" and "Word") only operate in Polish language; use of Internet is not open, but requires a voucher from the reception.
Contacts with the staff were impersonal and uneasy (with the notable exception of Mr. Jakub). I didn't succeed in getting reliable information on how to move around with public transportation, and I received evasive answers like "I don't know whether there are buses" or "there is just one bus going here and there"; I made a personal research and I can now inform the management and the staff that there are 3 bus lines stopping at their hotel, # A, #B and #6; all of them take to the main square and to the ferry terminal, while #B and #6 take directly to the beach; leaflets reporting the detailed route and schedule of all the Świnoujście bus lines are distributed free of charge by the local Tourist Office, Plac Słowiański 6/1; I encourage the management to get them and issue them to the receptionists. The breakfast room is normally very busy and we were never helped to find a seat; on the 4th day of my stay a guest of the hotel informed me that there are two tables “reserved for the HHonors members" (I am a "Diamond" member); nobody, among the staff, had taken care of informing us of this fact nor had guided us to sit there.
The hotel is located in the centre of Świnoujście, in a pleasant area. Several coffee-shops and small eateries are available in the surroundings; there are a couple of supermarkets round the corner, in "11 Listopada" street. The main square of Świnoujście and the beach are about 1 kilometre away. Świnoujście is a nice seaside resort: no wonder that the hotel is very popular with families with children; that’s very likeable, until you need to use the business centre for your work and you bump into a crowd of kids who monopolize the computers for playing. My low mark (2) mainly reflects my dissatisfaction with the services provided by the hotel.
All hotel is covered by free WIFI. There is quite nice restaurant and bar open 24h. Next door you will find another restaurand and small supermarket (Biedronka). There is small Gym but no swimming pool...
Hotel is located in the residential area of the city which has pros and cons.
Pros:
- less tourists
- free parkings
- quiet area
Cons:
- 1.3km distance to the seaside
- will not feel old Swinoujscie charm
Anyway you are making the choice. From my end the stay was really great and I recommend the hotel to everyone.
The hotel is in an urban setting. It is a 15' walking distance to the beach area with a nice promenade. It is a 10-15' walking distance to the centre. Swinoujscie has been badly bombed in World War II but there are still numerous old buildings with a charming architecture.
I enjoyed our stay in this Hampton hotel a lot and would not hesitate to go back.
