When I think of every romantic movie location in Italy, Villa Poggiale is it. The views, the olive trees, the food and wine. Everything was excellent. The rooms were spacious and quiet and so romantic. We travelled to 6 cities in Italy and this was our favourite stop. Thank you for making it so memorable.

We wanted a little bit of chill time between visiting Lucca and Florence and then Cinque Terre. The choice of hillside villas or farms is endless but we fell upon this one and I’m so glad we did! Firstly, we opted for dinner, bed and breakfast. I’m always a little concerned when we go for a dinner inclusive rate as you become a captive audience. No such worry at all here! As an example, dinner is four courses - first night was little tempura cheese parcels, followed by pasta with the most delicious homemade pesto, pork fillet with roasted vegetables and then creme brûlée. All served on a delightful terrace. Oh and a great wine menu! Breakfast is extensive and plentiful and has the yellowest eggs I’ve ever seen! We booked direct with the hotel ( the most delightful owner I have had the pleasure to meet), Do do this, you will get the best rate. The villa has always been a residence and it really does feel like you are part of someone’s home rather than some faceless, corporate hotel. The swimming pool is lovely , comfy beds surround and towels are provided each day. We opted for a superior room but were shown several before settling on one. It was huge with a huger comfy bed and very efficient air con. Plentiful hot water with shower and bath and great water pressure.
We visited San Gimignano one day and you aren’t far from Sienna if you want to venture out. Free parking on site.
We were lucky enough to sit and watch a fabulous lightning show on our second evening as the view across the Tuscan Hills is spectacular. Every single member of the team is friendly and personable. No one can do enough for you. We even opted for massages on our third day as the weather was changeable. We have one night here left and I’m writing it now so that I make sure I get everything down that’s going to make people want to book.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough so all I’d say is, if you’re wavering, don’t. Just do it. You’ll not regret it!

Three nights with a Viking tour could not have been better. Very friendly welcome, our room had the wow factor although one or two of the party felt their rooms were too small, all of course are different in this historic building.
Beautiful views from the property even in December. Food was amazing for breakfast and evening meal.
Car hire and various private tours can be arranged by the hotel, we wish we were staying longer. A car is a must as the property is in the countryside.

The villa the moment you arrive gives you the feeling of coming home. The beautiful garden the amazing view the incredible house with its beautiful ancient rooms and not to forget the crew under the guidance of the lovely Monica. Once you unpack you feel like in a warm bath. Il Poggiale offers you EVERYTHING you want for an unforgettable time. And yeah, if you can think of something extra, just ask and the crew will provide you with it. One less nice thing however, if you had planes to visit some other beautiful sites of Tuscany, you can forget about it. Il Poggiale embrace you with love and care. Until next time take care!

We stayed here before and valued its relatively close proximity to Florence, Vinci and Sienna. We were forgiving of its dilapidated state including doors literally falling off their hinges and the tired state of the decor that really needing refurbishment. We put it down to rustic charm.
But the experience has been soured by our planned visit this year that we paid for in January and the establishment has failed to deliver on. Despite repeatedly stating in writing that they would refund our 1,220 Euros having been unable to accommodate our visit, they have failed to do so and ignored all efforts to contact them. They have kept our money, failed to accommodate our visit and lost all future business from us ever again.
Be warned and be very careful. They only want you for your money.

we are sorry for your disappointmen tbut we think it is a bit unfair. the villa is ancient but every year all the decor and fittings are checked and refurbished.. the hinges in the hall are not falling apart, they are mounted in the Tuscan style which provide a more strong resistence for the painted wood to humidity and dryness along the seasons and you 'll find them in all palaces and villas of our region. as for the refunding we are the only establishment in Tuscany which gives back the money: the Italian governement states that clients should have vouchers when a booking is cancelled because of the covid19.. as I told you we'll have instead the pleasure to refund you at the end of the season, so you will receive your money back within a few days. these are terrible times but we try to do our best.

This is a wonderful old villa in the beautiful rolling hills of Tuscany. From here, you can go biking, visit cities to San Gimignano, Sienna, or Chianti vinyards.
The setting is unforgettable, the pool is surrounded by olive trees and vinyards. Calm and sereine atmosphere.
You can always find a quiet place to relax whether in one of the numerous sitting rooms or outside.
Rooms are comfortable . The staff went out of its way to find the right rooms for us.
Wifi does not work in some rooms (very thick walls) - works better outside or in some of the sitting rooms.

Very relaxing stay.

A truly memorable stay at this historic villa just outside Florence city center. My husband and I reserved our stay at Villa il Poggiale for the first stop of our honeymoon. We wanted to stay more in the Tuscan country side for the beginning of our trip and this villa met our expectations and more. All the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and responsive. Any time we came back to the villa we were greeted and asked if there was anything we needed. I also loved being able to communicate with staff via WhatsApp throughout the day whether for restaurant recommendations or any questions we had during our stay. We did rent a car to get to the villa and did not find it difficult to get to the villa from the Florence airport. An easy drive. Our stay at this villa was more of an experience with all the history this villa holds which takes you back in time. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The view at the villa is breathtaking and peaceful. We enjoyed sunset views with a bottle of wine. We can’t wait to visit again in the future to be able to enjoy the pool! Grazie a mille Villa il Poggiale and see you soon!

Whether you are considering staying for one night or a month, you SHOULD DO IT! Villa il Poggiale is a Tuscan Paradise.

We got married in this magical Villa working very closely together with Monica and her fantastic staff. Being from the United States, we had to work with Monica and the team remotely to coordinate our special day. The team exceeded our expectations! They ensured everything was organized with our vendors, welcomed our guests and ensured our events on Friday and Saturday ran on time. We and our guests were overwhelmed with the warm welcome, the setting, the scenery - this Villa has a soul that touches you. Every time we've been we are instantly at peace when we step onto the property. It feels like a second home/special place for us in the world and we will continue to return in the future. We cannot thank Monica, the Villa Il Poggiale staff enough for everything they do. We are so blessed to have found such a beautiful place in the world to have shared with our family and friends.

Thank you for all!

A pleasant surprise for my group of 8. We travel this area once or twice a year and now I have a new chosen destination for our future ventures in Italia. Accommodations were great, food was outstanding and the surrounding views lovely. Monica (GM) was very adept at addressing the needs of everyone and seemed genuinely attentive to my group. Look forward to returning next Spring.

Villa il Poggiale is tucked away in the Tuscan landscape just south of Florence. The vistas from anywhere in the Villa are breath-taking. The room that we had was beautifully appointed and decorated to perfection and included all amenities. We ate at the Villa for breakfasts and most dinners and their food is decadent. Service is top-notch and staying at the Villa feels like 'you are at home' - there are many areas to hibernate to, inside and outside. The library, in particular, is a soleful place to spend time and just think about the generations that once used the Villa in all its splendour. A marvellous stay!!

Aloha Sherpa ! At first glance at your post I thought I had written it. We're in the same boat, leaving Santa Croce by 10am and needing to get to the Villa. I contacted Viking and they said check-in at the Villa was 3pm. We were hoping to arrange for a driver to take us around Tuscany for a few hours, including lunch and then end up at the Villa by 3pm. 4 of us with bags. May.

A car would be the easiest. Public transportation might be more difficult as the Villa is a bit removed from the town.

Dear Sirs, We have a special agreement with our Drivers, that are reliable and a bit cheaper than usual taxis . They can pick you up from Florence airport and make some little tours around Chianti. An idea of prices: Villa to Florence airport around Euro 70,00 one way Villa to San Casciano Val di Pesa (2km away) Euro 20,00 one way Villa to Siena around Euro 80,00 one way With taxi will be more expensive to enjoy our Region. Do not hesitate to contact us for any further information Looking forward to your reply I send our warmest regards Villa il Poggiale Monica
