Castello di Montalto is a real hidden jewel in Tuscany! When you are approaching the castle, you feel like you entered into a different world. Castello di Montalto has all the charm and authenticity of a medieval castle, but with a luxurious feeling. I am very picky when it comes to hygiene. But everything in Castello Di Montalto is squeaky clean!

Castello di Montalto gives you the feeling like you are in a different world. It is so magical. The breathtaking, beautiful nature, the flowers, olive trees, even fireflies!

I have stayed here one year as a guest and this year for my own wedding. For both stays it is perfect. Chiara and Luca are the best hosts you can wish for. They go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. I have been in contact with Chiara many times before my wedding. She has been so extremely helpful and whatever I asked or explained, she always understood me immediately and even better, she came up with ideas that are even better than my own! For example, she saved me some flowers from the previou wedding, which I could use. How nice that she thinks of this. It is all in the details! The venue is truly amazing, but Chiara makes it perfect. I don’t know how she does it, working 24/7, always energetic and smiling. I feel blessed that I got to know her :).

What also makes Castello di Montalto the perfect location is that there are no tight or strict rules for music etc. If you want to party a bit longer, it is fine. If you want a few more bottles after the pizza party finishes, it is fine. They are so easy going. But Luca and Chiara do keep an eye on things to see if everything is going well. This is the best of both worlds. I am also a big fan of Luca, with him you know you are in good hands!

Writing this review makes me miss Chiara, Luca and the castle :) and I can write for hours. But this location and Chiara and Luca are the best thing that I could ever wish for for my wedding!

I cannot wait to come back soon.

Best,

Sophie

Castello di Montalto was the most beautiful setting for us to marry in front of our family and friends. We loved hosting our guests all weekend, it was a truly relaxing and joyful time. The castle was the perfect retreat with plenty of space for the children to play and enjoy the pool. Chiara was the most amazing host; she helped us plan every aspect and was so kind and welcoming. She made the day run so smoothly and effortlessly organised every detail, we couldn't have done it without her! From our ceremony in front of the olive grove, to aperatives under the castle's shady tree and dinner and dancing in the fabulous courtyard, every aspect was so magical! We will never forget it

We have stayed here before. It is a great location in woods and countryside, very well aced for visiting Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Montepulciano and many other sights. The accommodation is good and well managed by Chiara and,Lucy. Breakfasts if you choose to have them are excellent. The pool is good and well maintained. All I all the perfect Tuscan retreat

The Castello di Montalto captured our hearts and imagination the moment we saw emerged from the forest and saw the tower in the distance. It also benefits from having Chiara as its manager - she is quite simply exceptional and a fantastic resource to have whether you are getting married or just lodging. Between the history (over 1,004 years old!) that you feel in every corner, the spacious and functional apartments, laundry rooms, tennis court, bocce court and swimming pool, the Castello di Montalto really doesn't lack for anything. As for weddings, there couldn't be anything more Tuscan. Our guests were absolutely stunned, and everyone enjoyed 3 magical days which was exactly what we wanted from the beginning.

Eight of us stayed for 5 nights in April 2022. It is a magical place. Such a unique setting, wonderful views and buildings with real historic character. The wisteria plants are amazing! Chiara and her team welcomed us warmly and made us feel special throughout our stay. Their breakfasts were a treat, fresh and delicious. Our trip was originally booked for May 2020. Chiara worked with us for two years as we rebooked several times, and she held our deposit the whole time (beyond the terms of our agreement). She also setup a cooking class in our apartment, which we highly recommend. The rooms were very clean and have all the modern amenities, but still we sometimes felt back in time.

We were invited here for a wedding and literally this residence is enchanting. Away from it all. All you can see is trees and birds and fresh air.
Chiara and Luca were short staffed as most restaurants like mine right now and they literally worked for five consecutive days round the clock. To make sure we were all well looked after. Our room was in torre del vescovo, archbishops tower. This room even had kneeing furniture from the good old days. Only issues were theater pressure on shower was low but after all this a thousand years old.
The pool was huge and the location amazing.

Castello di Montalto and it's stagg is absolutely amazing, we cannot recommend this place enough! The property is beautiful, green and magical, the apartments are very clean, comfortable and charming. We were lucky enough to organize our wedding at Castello di Montalto and had our guest stay in the apartments. Everyone was so impressed with the beauty of the venue and apartments as well as the delicious breakfast and other meals served by the staff. Chiara and Luca were incredibly helpful with organising and coordinating every single detail of our wedding weekend so that we had the most magical time. Even things we didn't have time to think about, were already solved by the helpful staff who gave us the best possible service. We got so many compliments from all our guests about how beautiful the venue and accomodations are as well as how professional and helpful the staff is. We couldn't have chosen a better place to organise our wedding and will for sure be back for future holidays. We would recommend this for anyone looking for a idyllic beautiful and peaceful stay in Tuscany or anyone looking to organise an event as well. Thank you so much!

We booked a wedding at Castello di Montalto through Chiara back in late 2022 and just recently had it in June (2024). It was an incredible experience, the castle is beautiful and perfect for ceremonies or events you'd like to hold. Chiara also helped us out with a lot of things for our big day and made the whole process tremendously easy. Great pool, facilities, food, accommodation and everything you could want from a Tuscan venue. Would highly recommend!

We were blown away by this beautiful castle, its grounds, and beautiful surroundings. Chiara and Luca were so dedicated and worked so hard. Highly recommend. Only issue was very low water pressure in the bath. We had the rooms Torre Del Vescovo.

Giovanni and Diana Coda-Nunziante own and run this beautiful 1,000 year-old castle in the Tuscan countryside just outside the historic city of Siena. Because it is not a hotel, the prices are very reasonable and Montalto really feels more like your home in Italy, rather than just being a guest in a hotel. Everyone speaks perect English and is really warm and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable and of a good size with all you need should you choose to eat in your house / appartment. However, there are so many great local restaurants that you will probably go out for lunch and dinner most days. The staff is extremely helpful with reservations and recommendations. Siena is a short drive away and not to be missed, especially the Duomo and we had fun climbing the Torre de Mangia in the Piazza del Campo with our 7-year-old son, Ian and 10-year-old daughter, Bessie. The castle has a very nice and warm outdoor pool which we visited at least once every day. There are some great local walks in the fields and lanes around the castle with wonderful views. There is also a tennis court, although we didn't use it. You will have a wonderful time here if you go and we highly recommend Montalto.

Why, thank you! I think you've described us pretty well, except that Montalto isn't really a hotel. We rent the apartments and houses that comprise the castle by the week, not by the day - because I think you really need at least a week or two to relax and unwind and see some of the beauty of the towns and the countryside around you. You didn't stay long enough - I hope you can come back!

Not really. It is isolated about 4km off the main road and you really need a car to fully experience the area

Hello, a 3 bedrooms apartment would be better for a party of 6. Montalto is not a luxury hotel : we rent self catering apartments.
