Beautiful venue, but for the sake of your guests, do not book for the high season.
With temperatures reaching over 35 degrees it is essential that your guests are comfortable in their accommodation. Some of the rooms/apartments do not have air conditioning and as a result are extremely uncomfortable. This was our experience at a recent wedding. Some rooms do have air conditioning, which is extra cost to your guests, but those who had it were willing to pay just to be able to sleep at night. For the sake of your guests please book this venue when the temperatures are less extreme. I realise the venue can do nothing to change the weather, but they could install more portable air conditioning units.
The pool is in a lovely setting, however, we had elderly members of our party who were unable to access it, unless someone could drive them up the steep hill to get to it and down again for the toilet.
The ironing room needs some attention. The floor is dusty and dirty and the bride’s mother would not take the wedding dress in there to iron it. The ironing boards have dirty/burnt covers and the bases of the irons are burnt, some where even broken with electrical wires hanging out. I realise this is due to how the previous guests have used these items, but it was very difficult ironing our outfits for the special day.
The catering company (Italian Taste Lodovichi) were excellent. Their staff worked extremely hard on each of the evenings they catered for us. The wedding meal was of exceptional quality and plenty of it, with the serving staff being very attentive to each guest. The whole experience was made more perfect by this team.
The villa is in a beautiful setting with everything you need for a magical, fairy- tale wedding, just not in the high season.

Response from Sofia Marmoross, Owner at Villa Catignano
Responded Sep 11, 2024
Thank you for your valuable feedback! In Italy, it's not common to have air conditioning in homes, and many Farmhouses/Properties/ accommodations may not be equipped with it and not all guests require it. Unfortunately, this July and August were particularly hot, but we plan to install air conditioning in more rooms in the next two years as temperatures have been rising in recent years. Currently, more than half of the accommodations on our property are equipped with air conditioning, while the others have fans in the rooms (and additional fans can be requested if needed). Our Villa, being a historic property with frescoes and protected by the cultural heritage authorities, presents more challenges for installation, but it is generally cooler than other parts of the property. However, we are already considering potential solutions, such as portable air conditioners in some of the bedrooms that can be required on request. On August 12th, we also purchased new irons and ironing board covers, which we replace every three months. Thank you once again for your precious suggestions!

This Villa is truly the most magical place we could have dreamed of for our 3 day wedding weekend. We booked the Villa without seeing it in person because of how amazing the social media posts were. We came out to see the Villa before our wedding and were blown away at how gorgeous it looks in person - the photos and videos do not do it justice - and that’s saying something for how stunning it looks online!
The grounds were immaculately kept and the rooms and communal areas were so clean.
We obviously stayed in the bridal suite which had the most gorgeous views and the architecture was beautiful! We had 80 guests in total and all were able to be accommodated in the Villa and grounds. All of our guests loved their rooms and we appreciated how they each had their own kitchenette.
We had breakfast each day and all of our guests commented that they were the best pastries they had had!
The pool was brilliant and again kept very clean. The only thing we would have liked was extra loungers but everyone enjoyed all the same!
The whole team at the Villa were amazing. We were made to feel so welcome and everyone could not do enough for us and our guests to make sure our wedding weekend went flawlessly.
We were so gutted to leave and we can honestly say choosing this Villa as our wedding venue exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much again Sofia, Elisbetta and Eleanora x

My husband and I, along with over 50 guests, spent four days at Villa Catignano for our wedding exactly one year ago. The only thing more spectacular than the wedding weekend itself was the people at the Villa that made it all possible, such as the owner, Sofia, and Claudia.
In looking at venues across Italy, our goal was to find somewhere that had equally beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces (in case of weather), enough room that all guests could comfortably stay on site, and a location with plenty of activities available both on property and nearby. Villa Catignano offered all of this and so much more. The property is the perfect mix of the type of elegant design and style that you imagine for an Italian destination wedding with elements of the rustic surroundings that I love so much about Tuscany. Our guests came from all over the world and were absolutely floored by the spacious and immaculately kept grounds, as well as the apartments- all of which have their own bathrooms and kitchenettes (if not full kitchens!). We loved the views of Siena and the rolling vineyards from both the garden where we held our cocktail hour and the grassy courtyard in which we had our pizza welcome dinner. The history of the Villa and the beautiful architecture and art throughout were an added bonus that took everything over the top. Our guests commented that even in the breakfast room they felt they were eating in a beautiful museum. With so many gorgeous spaces throughout the property (courtyards, terraces, gorgeous halls) there is no shortage of different ways to organize your perfect wedding!
The amazing wedding weekend we had would not have been possible without Sofia and her team helping every step of the way. I was a horribly unorganized bride (if not evidenced by my writing this review a year late!), and yet the wonderful people of Villa Catignano ensured that the weekend was executed absolutely perfectly! From Sofia helping us with last minute flower arrangements for a stunning pizza welcome dinner to Claudia assisting in arranging a beautiful dinner in nearby Siena for our last night there- I will never be able to thank them all enough! With 50 guests running around, I never once had to worry that my guests wouldn't have what they needed. We took Sofia's recommendations for all of our vendors (Guidi Lenci for reception dinner, Andrea Sampoli for photography, FlowersLiving for floral, Class Ricevimenti for our welcome dinner, Irene of Wedding in Chianti for wedding coordinator, Audio Visual Siena, and so many more), and they were all EXCEPTIONAL. This is a weekend and experience we will cherish forever, and I can't thank Villa Catignano enough for their patience and expertise. We could not recommend this venue more highly!

This magical place was perfect from A to Z.
An Amazing view from anywhere you would look at, a Beautiful venue and Caring team. From the Delightful breakfasts in the morning, Eternal memories of celebrating love, it hides Fabulous areas (courtyard, gardens, villa). The Gorgeous rooms to sleep or to dance,(and Hats off for the maintenance of it). Incredible plan B and C in case of bad weather, Joy feelings being surrounded by Lemon trees that would bring smell and happiness. With Magnificent statues in the garden, you could feel No stress in this place, that is Objectively the most beautiful place we've ever stayed in. A Perfect location near Sienna, enjoying Quiet mornings listening to birds, it is also a Relaxing venue to stroll around the labyrinths. From Stupendous ceilings when looking up, to this Timeless and Unique venue, Villa Catignano was a dream place for our Wedding from A to Z.

Very nice location and suitable for weddings!
We were also invited for 4 days at a wedding.
The rooms are all differently equipped, some older, some also renovated bathrooms. Is just a very old house from the 17th century. ==References== Some rooms, windows or window sills very ailing. There are thankfully some rooms with air conditioning, you have to pay extra.

The villa is very nice and relaxing to stay there. The staff on property were helpful. It is close to some restaurants and stores. There is none on property so you will need to go shopping.
There is a very nice pool on the property. Unfortunately, we stayed in one of the apartments (Rustico Voliera) which was a separate building on the far end of the property. We called it the servants' quarters. It was musky and dirty and everything was old inside. The bathrooms were tiny and I could not turn around in the shower. We ended up leaving early because we couldn't stay there any longer. The rooms in the main building were nice and so were the ones in the other apartments. We just ended up with one that probably is not used much and not kept up. There is nothing to do there except go to the pool. A nice place for a wedding, but otherwise I would not stay there again.

We rented the villa for a week and the whole property for the weekend when we arranged our wedding here in May.
The estate is simply perfect! I don't know where to begin when describing the property, but feedback from all our 60 guests that stayed here during the weekend, was that this was one of the most beautiful places they had stayed.
For us, arranging a week-long wedding celebration, Villa Catignano was perfect. For all guests staying at the same location, to the swimming pool, to the "rave cave" in one of the old halls, to the gardens that offer the perfect scene for a wedding ceremony. Just perfect

We stayed in the Villa in August 2020 to celebrate our wedding, with our families and friends (83 people, who all slept there for 3 to 4 days).
In spite of the sanitary situation, we couldn't dream better, our stay was absolutely magical.
The Villa is magnificent and offers places of character to celebrate unforgettable events. All our guests were conquered, and so were we.
The organization went perfectly, despite the complicated situation related to COVID. The contact with Elisabetta, Claudia and Sofia was very easy. They were adorable, always offering their help, very available and conciliatory. One person also lives there and is also very kind and helpful, in case one of the apartments has a problem.
The place and these 4 people allowed us to live a dream wedding and we thank them very much!
