Scam! Since one year we are trying to get our money back. We got charged twice! Alex (the host) told us that we would get it back but have not received any payment. No answers to phone calls or mails since 3 months... Don't book at this hotel! Very unfriendly and not service oriented at all!
We had a wonderful room with a lovely terrace. The whole mansion is a miracle in itself. Best place to stay when you visit Scala dei Turchi and Valley of Temples or Agrigento. Unfortunately the air-con did not work and could not be fixed during our stay.
The architecture of the masseria is fantastic. We loved how it was so beautifully renovated as well as the interior design. The surroundings are also very quiet and relaxing. The lady manager was very nice and answered the questions we had about the renovation of the masseria. She also requested to see our green passes to let us enter the property and once it was presented no mask was required to be worn inside the property. The quality of the services provided is not up to the standards of the property. Housekeeping - we were very disappointed at our arrival to find that the room has not been made properly (dirty toilets, fluffs and dust on the floor and on the tables, stain on the bedsheets) - even though the toilet seat had been sealed to show that the room has been done. We let the lady at the reception know and so she changed the dirty sheets and cleaned the toilet but the floor and dust were not done, nor on the first nor the second. Actually, all the cleaning lady did during our stay is to make our bed. Cleaning was not only an issue with regards to our room but for the whole property - the pool area was a disaster with old towels laying there from one day to the next and old bottles not being thrown away. The swimming pool water was blurry and full of insects and on the second day we noticed that there were about a dozen of frogs living in the filter holes of the swimming pool. I found one dead and rescued two which were swimming in the pool. We didn’t use the pool after that as it was starting to smell like a pond. During our stay, we never saw the pool being clean manually or with a robot. The common areas were also filling up with dead leaves showing that the housekeeper was not doing her job as a general. We saw her couple of times smoking cigarettes and talking on the phone on the morning but we never saw her cleaning anything. We believe that this issue would be easily resolved if the property was adequately staffed and if the manager was present at the property in the morning to manage the staff and ensure the quality of the work performed. Quality of the food - we were very disappointed with the quality of the breakfast and the dinner. The product used are not local and came from the supermarket (industrial bread, discount yogurt, etc). This is not something we expect from an artisanal farm which philosophy should be to help us discover artisanal and local products. For example, the gardens had figs d’india and grenadine fruits falling on the ground and despite this we had for breakfast other fruits which were not even ripped. Dinner at night was nothing special and really expensive, especially given the quality of the recipes. We had clams spaghettis and the fish of the day. The products were good quality but the preparation was very basic and we doubt that the cook is a local. Not good value for money - we found that the service was very terrible with the masseria being overly understaffed and the reception lady being anywhere to be found as she was doing the check-ins, serving at the restaurant and bar, cleaning the toilets and changing the sheet when the cleaning lady had not done her job correctly. We understand that the staff is doing as much as they can given the amount of work they have but at the end of the day, this is not our problem given the price that is being paid. Clean rooms and available staff is the minimum of what is expected from any kind of hotel and even more for a hotel of this range of price.…
The stay was wonderful in a quiet and calm atmosphere. But I would like to highlight the restaurant that they have inside. Maurizio is the chef and his dinner was excellent !!! I wish I had more days to stay...
The location is amazing, on a lovely hill with a wonderful look to the countryside and the see. The silence is what I have appreciated most, it is the right place if you are looking for a relaxing stop. The personnel is very kind and friendly, they are always available to satisfy any needs you have. unfortunately we hadn’t the possibility to try the restaurant but the breakfast was very good. Definitively a place where you have to stop if you are in the area.
A beautiful old complex of farm properties on a hillside 10 km from Agrigento, restored to a high standard. My wife and I spent four nights here during a 40th wedding annviersayr trip. We had a beautiful room, with a balcony with a wonderful view out over the country and then the sea. The service was extremely friendly and helpful (excelelnt english !). Lots of lovely places to sit and enjoy. Very good restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast. and an ideal cetnre to visit the beauty of teh sicilian south coast, and the amazing temples of Agrigento. Would love to go back !
The establishment and the scenery of this resort is beautiful, nothing bad can be said. But then again, this is what you would expect, from a Sicilian trip. That being said, here are all the things that went wrong and definitely wouldn’t have us return to Masseria Agnello. 1) Air conditioning wasn’t working in our room. 2) From our 10 days trip, hopping from one B&Bs to another, this is the worst service, breakfast, welcoming we had so far. 3) About the breakfast, 5 euros for a Cappuccino and 8 euros for eggs is RIDICULOUS! We aren’t in London or Paris, we are in a small town in Realmonte. Every other places we went to, cappuccinos, coffee ... were offered at breakfast. So this is probably a really stingy management that isn’t customer experience oriented. Don’t get me started on the eggs! Even a 3 stars holiday inn has hard boiled eggs over the counter. Nothing against Holiday Inn. About the Wifi! What wifi, there’s no connection in the room and very poor one in the lobby.…
this place is amazing the scenery is : "a couper le souffle" you feel as you had been in an other world service is outstanding old , clean, renovated with all the details but AC was not working 100% the room was amazing but not practical.... restaurant was good but not exceptional definitively much better to stay there than agrigente i would recommend it and as well go back to it!
This was one of the nicest places I’ve stayed. Everything was perfect, amazing attention to detail. Staff lovely, pool beautiful. The room was spotless. We will definitely come back again. The food at dinner was great too.
Based on the pictures and reviews, we actually extended our booking by one night at this place. But at the end, we were underwhelmed by the experience. Pro: - no fault with the property: it's set on a beautiful ground with fragrant flowers and beautiful interior. Rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. - It is located in the middle of olive orchard guarded by the charming resident dog, Rex. Cons: - breakfast selection was poor except for the cakes, which were excellent. But I pity the unripe, tasteless fruits (in Sicily!) and very salty, dry rolled-up omelette. One breakfast, we were served left-over cakes from the christening party the night before. It was a good cake though. - breakfast service was appalling: we had to repeatedly asked for coffee refill (coffee was served in a little thermos for the whole room), extra plates, extra water etc as no one watched over the buffet to ensure refill. The time was spent by the solitary lady manning the station by polishing knives or chatting in the kitchen. There was also no possibility of asking anything in the morning because the lady didn't speak English at all. We had to get the receptionist to translate my order of scrambled egg. - we had three dinners on the property and the food was underwhelming: the tastes and creations were standard and not at all a reflection of Sicily. Menu was also limited but rarely changed so if you stay a few nights in a row, you might have to eat the same thing. - services were mixed. As mentioned, breakfast service was terrible but we had really good service from the South African lady during the evening meals. She was the highlight of the place as she was knowledgeable, professional and prompt. Overall, I really would love the place and actually did try to spend two days just chilling in the hotel because the place is just beautiful but given the poor breakfast, mixed service and unimpressive dinner, it's not a place to just lounge around and enjoy the hotel.…
