The Mystras Grand (and Mystras) is worth detouring for! The pools are excellent (fresh water and salt water), with plenty of plush sunbeds. It's a beautiful setting and the cocktails were amazing, easily the best we had in Greece. They aren't using Covid to cut corners like other hotels (the gym and sauna are open as usual), but are still very thorough with their procedures (anti bac gel, temperature testing). The free bikes were a nice touch and the receptionist was incredibly helpful in recommending routes. The employees are a credit to the hotel, they really are wonderful. Incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also great (sadly I didn't take pictures of the whole thing), tons of choice and copious! The quality was high and we couldn't even finish it.

The hotel/domain is beautiful, with a lot of trees, fruits, flowers... The room was very comfy and clean. It smells so good :) The swimming pool was big, with a nice pool bar for cocktails. The restaurant where we had dinner, next to the swimming pool, was tasty as well. Nevertheless, some points should be improved for a 5 stars hotel: - the welcome was very cold, by the security staff: hand sanitizer and temperature control... Only then, the staff started to be more relaxed and was quite nice. - they upgraded us in a very nice room (thank you for this !), but next to the tennis court while there was a tournament until very late in that night !! (midnight or so....). The domain is so big, they could have booked another room (the hotel was totally empty). - the breakfast was tasty BUT they were mowing the grass just in front of us, while they could have 1) either mow in another place as the domain is very big, or 2) wait for the 2 hours breakfast so the guests are in a quiet environment !! Everyone was annoyed - in the details: there was some quick fix (paper below the table outside or in the bathroom to make the furnitures more stable) while it could be properly fixed But overall, it was still a good experience, hence the good mark.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mystras palace resort and could not recommend it more. From the moment we arrived, the attention of the staff and details of the lovely stone cottages surrounding the beautiful pools, one with salt water and tennis courts, we were in the lap of luxury. Unfortunately due to the Covid crisis, the underground Spa was only partially open, but had we had more time I would definitely have done some of their reasonably priced treatments. Not to mention spent time in there lovely large Jacuzzi pool! The breakfast was beyond delicious, with all kinds of Greek specialties but also breads for my gluten-free husband and wonderful egg dishes for my ravenous kids. Our family also borrowed tennis rackets and bikes to explore the nearby areas. Be sure to save time for a tour of the archaeological site, and start from the bottom. One of the highlights of our hike was the Parnassian monastery which is still inhabited by about six nuns. In the far cottage , they offer sweets and handiwork for sale. We chose the Mystra because it was near Sparta, on the road to the Mani Peninsula, a short two hour drive from Athens from a dawn flight - but it was a destination in itself. We are not “resort” like people but this is special. You will not be disappointed. Lovely people. A lovely spot. --

we only stayed one night, the first day of a short holiday in Greece, but relax, enjoy and rest! as soon as we arrived we played tennis, new balls and a very well kept field. then a swim in the beautiful swimming pool (salt water, super) and then a fairy tale sunset. cozy and quiet room and the morning after a beautiful bike ride (made available by the hotel) to a church carved into the rock. and finally an excellent breakfast, in short, all good, including the super kind and professional staff
