Just returned from a week away at Sonia Resort. A first hotel all-inclusive experience for both of us and Sonia didn’t disappoint in the slightest. Upon arrival we were informed our original room had occurred some rain damage, we were then upgraded to a suite for the rest of the week with no additional charge. We had one day of really bad weather (can’t be helped) but still managed to fill the day. A visit to the gym, which is compact but does have free weights, bikes and running machines. Then to the spa which was absolutely fantastic and reasonably priced. Can’t fault the entertainment team in the slightest. All in their early twenties and did an amazing job every single day. Encourage you to get involved, but not pushy in the slightest. The entertainment (bar the occasional pool game) is held away from where most loungers are, so doesn’t interrupt the peace! The hotel itself is exceptionally clean, cleaners visit your room everyday and change towels upon request. Rooms are lovely and all have a view towards the sea. We were further up the hill but didn’t find this a problem. You can request rooms closer to the restaurant etc if needed. The location isn’t busy, but really wasn’t a problem as so much to do inside the resort. Food was absolutely fantastic. Such a range of things on offer to suit everyone. The standard cereals, breads, cooked meats and omelettes for breakfast. Lunch and tea were more similar with a variety of salads, cooked meats and vegetarian dishes. Our favourite night would have to be the Greek Night. Gyros served in the restaurant then a night of Greek dancing accompanied by great (strong!) drinks with a great view in the Panorama Bar. Usually wouldn’t think of re-visiting a hotel or even area, but Sonia was so fantastic all-around. Huge thanks to all the staff - who were all so kind!…
We travelled with our 2 boys aged 7 and 10. Our room was lovely, we did pay for an upgrade and had a separate bedroom with jacuzzi bath, it was lovely! Our bath did not work for 2 of our 7 nights which was a shame but they did come and look at it and fix after a couple of calls, my boys still enjoyed the bath each night without the bubbles as it was huge! The whole complex has a lovely relaxed, welcoming feeling about it , its kept very clean and staff are friendly! I felt that my children were very safe here. The animation team are fabulous! They never stopped ! The food is very nice, meats were cooked very well and melted in the mouth ! Lunch was excellent, lots of salads and pasta ! Breakfast was good too, the sausages weren't the best but still lots other things, bacon, scrambled eggs cereals , meats and cheese, breads , fresh pancakes , and fresh omelette cooked whilst you wait , I had one everyday, they were lovely! The wine and drinks in all inclusive package were good too! I only had white but it was quite nice and the cocktails were great ! They were proper cocktails made fresh and tasted lovely! My kids also loved being able to go and get drinks themselves! You don't have to pay for sunbeds on the beach if all inclusive! The beach is very relaxing and great that all inclusive is extended to the beach ! We have discussed coming here again(we don't normally visit the same place twice) as it just felt relaxing and we felt very welcome at this complex! And our kids had the best time! The views our stunning! The lady in the shop is soo friendly and the gentleman who takes your bags and lots of the staff in the bar and restaurant and the pool bar lady ! And the lifeguard! All credit to the hotel! Sorry I don't lknow anyones name! I would highly recommend visiting athios Town (one of the jet2 night trips ) beautiful , Greek town ! We didn't go on the trip , we hired a car! Would highly recommend a car too to really see Halkidiki ! Some gorgeous resorts with beautiful white sands and crystal clear waters! There isn't much around the hotel as a few people mention, but we knew this before we camr as did our research ! It didn't really matter to us, we just wanted relaxation, nice food and the kids entertained and we got that staying here ! We normally go to skiathos but I have to say I really fell for halkidiki and will definitely be back. Thank you Sonia for a great stay !…
This was a beautiful little hotel situated in a very quiet area right on the beach. The rooms were always cleaned beautifully every day despite the dirt and mess we managed to drag in off the beaches. The food was buffet style in the restaurant which was always excellent. There was always a large selection of hot or cold food at every sitting to cater for everyone’s tastes with many local Greek dishes and desserts. The pool area felt small considering the number of guests the hotel can accommodate and sun loungers will be difficult to get at peak season I’m sure. The beach is made up of tinny little stones not sand and is uncomfortable to walk on. The sea however is beautifully flat due to the shape of the coast and great for kids to play in. The only downside I found to this resort was the massive amount of smoking from other hotel guests. You are never more than six foot away from an ashtray and this resort seems to attract cigarette smokers like flies. I would highly recommend hiring a car exploring the surrounding areas. The roads are well maintained and fairly quiet compared to the uk and easy to navigate. You can go to the same places as the hotel excursions but in your own time and comfort and for less money.…
Just returned from a lovely week here, we had an amazing time the hotel is absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean, the staff are all amazing they were never without a smile the managers are always around the hotel and always said hello, nothing was too much trouble we asked for extra towels they were delivered straight away, we travelled as a family with a baby and almost 12 year old, there was certainly something for everyone the animation team work very hard and are so lovely and friendly they are only young but have so much energy to keep everyone active and engaged our daughter loved spending time with them, there is a lovely man in the restaurant that saved a banana everyday of our holiday and greeted us each morning with a smile and a banana! We travelled with a baby that has allergies and these were catered to fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make sure he had something he liked( the lady with the blonde hair in the restaurant came straight over to us each morning which was so lovely) the reception staff were all friendly and always smiling we were greeted on our arrival with a drink and then quickly shown to our room, which was beautiful and spacious and spotless. We did venture to the shops down the road but to be honest it wasn’t worth the walk the hotel shop is well stocked with things you would need to buy, this hotel is perfect if your looking for a relaxing week away in a beautiful location over looking the sea but there isn’t much around it, this suited us as we were only staying for a week, the bar staff were also so friendly and we were always greeted well and with a smile, I did get bitten by mosquitos and the lifeguard attended to the bites and gave me some treatment for them he was a very nice man and also so happy and very helpful, we have never stayed anywhere like this hotel it’s unique for the service especially for all inclusive they really do look after you, you get waiter service in the restaurant at meal times and in the panorama bar we loved sitting in there in the afternoon on the balcony over looking the sea, the food and drinks were lovely we never struggled to find something everyone liked and we all ate really well (a bit too well!) I don’t usually write reviews but I felt this hotel really deserved a review! We don’t usually return to the same place as we like to see new places but if I was looking for a week away to totally relax I would certainly return, we had one day at the beach which was lovely and we really liked that you got sun beds and drinks with the all inclusive again not very often you get this, The staff are an absolute credit to this hotel they made us feel so welcome in all areas I did also visit the spa that was lovely very tranquil modern and clean the prices were very reasonable too.…
We had a great week here. A couple of negatives but overall lots of positives. Beautiful beautiful bedroom with large comfy bed and stunning sea views. A fridge microwave and coffee machine. A welcome bottle of wine and slippers a lovely touch. Pool area is lovely ,everywhere is very clean, the little shop is good. Eating lunch with a beautiful view is just heaven. Also the Panarama restaurant ( not all inc for food) has fabulous views and the pizzas are the best we have ever eaten. The couple of negatives are the buffet sytle food was often only just warm and sometimes cold,The hotel should sort this and find a way to keep the food hot. There was however a good choice of food. The owners or managers often seen wandering around the food area wearing no mask and yet we were all expected to wear one. The hotel stands alone with little else around it.There are a few more lovely restaurants about a 25/30 min walk left from hotel to Gerakina . A nice one on the beach called Oasis. But its a quiet place. The majority of the staff here we found to be excellent. Special shout out to Dimitris (driver), Konstantina (pool bar), Mary (restaurant) ,Anatolia (beachbar), Panos (panarama), And animation team work really hard to entertain and are extremely fit. Dominiqua and We called the young lad Nikos as we couldnt pronounce his name.🤣 they are so friendly and a great asset to the hotel. While there there were 2 nights of entertainment a band and a greek dancers night. Both very good. The rest of week was down to animation team. So overall we had a fantastic stay and we met some lovely people including German,Dutch, Greek and English. If we came again and we got another great deal we would hire a car and go see the main parts of Halkidiki, on Kassandra and Slithonia..…
Came back a week ago from the hotel, and what a lovely quiet, relaxing week we had. The staff are just so friendly with a special mention for Mary in the restaurant, the lovely receptionist, the 2 members of the entertainment team, and young lady in the beach bar (sorry for not remembering your names). The hotel was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a well needed rest. I would definitely visit again, and would recommend it for single travellers, young families (under 5’s), and older couples. Thanks Sonia Resort, I’m sure we’ll be back to visit again!
Ideal place for a totally relaxing holiday. Rooms very clean although the maids were a hit and miss throughout the week. Sleep quality excellent. Food was okay, buffet style and always loads of choice. I am gluten and dairy intolerant, first day was a bit hit and miss even though I’d emailed to let them know and received assurances I would be catered for. The rest of the week they had gluten free bread and the Chef showed me what I was able to eat at dinner. Always a choice of at least 4 dishes but deserts were limited to fresh fruit. Lovely pool area, lots of sun beds available and everywhere very clean. The beach is down some steps with lots of sun beds costing 2 euros per day. Beach pebbly and rocky so footwear is needed. The entertainment team are enthusiastic, very energetic and engaging. Shop on site with few essentials (water, wine, spirits, crisps, sun cream etc) and quirky, unusual gifts, everything reasonably priced, it’s run by two women who are really friendly. All the staff were friendly and helpful, any problems were dealt with immediately. Taxis can be hired through Reception. All in all, a very relaxing holiday and one I would recommend.…
A lovely hotel. Very modern and fresh decor. Helpful and welcoming staff. Everywhere is extremely clean. Our room had an amazing view out to the sea. Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Food was great. Felt lunch choices were better than evening but that’s just personal preference.
If you want total relaxation this hotel is the place for you! It is a lovely hotel which has clean and modern rooms with beautiful views. The pool area is great, stunning to look out over the ocean. The animation team and bar staff were all brilliant and really made our stay. We are a young couple and this hotel was full of slightly older people but the animation team really made an effort to bring fun activities during the daytime and evening. Food is great, not loads of choice but overall lovely! Short walk out of the hotel if you turn left and Marco Polo do amazing pizzas! This was a must for us after 7 nights. We did hire a car for the day which I would recommend and head along the peninsula - again so much fun just beach hopping and relaxing. All inclusive stretches to the beach bar also which makes your stay extra special.…
Great flight out plane not full, hotel very clean rooms are spacious and well designed,TV not much to choose from in English, shower is great. Bed very comfy, nice balcony. Lovely and clean pool area pool was freezing cold, beach area was good lots of sunbeds on the beach with small area for drinks, lovely walk along beach but be very careful of the rocks. Restaurant is very well organized as the staff serve you nice and clean not a big choice but what there was it was cooked well. Great view from the bar area and good selection of drinks and cocktails, staff are all very pleasant and helpful, the area is very quiet a few shops and restaurants left down the road if you go right it takes about 50 min and have to walk a little on the road which was scary, all in all a lovely relaxing and peaceful holiday.…
