We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hotel Poseidon and as a base for a break I find it difficult to recall any serious shortcomings.

Room was spotless and cleaned daily. Towels and bedlinen were changed twice during the week and the room had obviously been re-decorated very recently. Air con, fridge, TV, safe, all included at no extra cost. View from the balcony was stunning and a small beach, literally across a very quiet road. Not the best beach by any means but for an early morning or late afternoon dip, adequate.

Only a 10 minute walk into town to catch the ferry to Argostoli or to enjoy an al fresco meal, (try Zorba's Taverna....superb traditional food).

Downside? A little too quiet (undeservedly so). Breakfast fare was a little repetetive but traditionally Greek. Breakfast is not of huge importance to them. Family owned and run and, come on guys, how many hotels have you stayed in where the owner and her daughter kiss you goodbye?

Placement of hotel in center of lixouri.
- the bathroom was very very old and small really small with no hot water all day.
The breakfast was 1 star hotel,
There is no enough stuff.
When we join the hotel at 7pm next day we need late check out but the manager say he can make something like this!

The location is nice very close to Lixouri port (5 mins walk). Apart of this, its a disaster. Although rooms supposed to be renovated, are too old with only news beds. Bathrooms are so old with rusty parts and mold. The breakfast is a joke, despite that is till 9 am (you have to woke up from 8.30 am while you are in vacations to relax) is very poor. The main entrance is locked after 1am , or you need to make special arrangement with the stuff to take key before you leave. Very ignorant and totally unprofessional stuff, whatever you ask most of the times their attitude is negative. For sure a place to avoid.

Upon booking this hotel we where assured that central heating was provided. When we arrived we realised there was no such thing (at least not operational).when we complained to the manager/owner regarding that issue, we where given a portable mini heater which we where told not to leave open for too long!
The owner was very unwilling to assist us and quite rude I might say.
Since it was quite cold we left the heater on and went out for a drink.
Upon returning to the hotel(which by the way has no 24 hour reception, you need to have a cell phone and call the lady that owns the place in order to get in the hotel) the owner told us that while walking the corridor she felt (!) heat coming out of our room and went INSIDE the room to switch off the mini heater.
Another issue was the hot water flow in the shower, well actually there was no flow whatsoever, the water was hot but it was just drops of it.
I also feel the need to mention that we did not get any form of receipt when we paid and checked out.
I would recommend to any fellow traveler avoiding this hotel at all costs,I know that there are campsites in cephalonia with better facilities than this place.

We booked his hotel at short notice, so much so that we weren't expected.

This wasn't a problem and we were made to feel welcome by the very nice lady in charge.

The hotel was a pleasant 5 minute stroll from the town centre, a stone's throw from the beach and the car park was in front of the building.

The room was very clean and well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The view from the balcony was really outstanding (Mount Aenos in all its glory and the beautiful Ionian Sea) and it was a really peaceful stay - we were the only guests. I slept like a log.

The biggest treat was still to come! We were treated like visiting royalty at breakfast the following morning because a small banquet had been prepared just for us, including a toasted sandwich, boiled eggs, peaches with yoghurt, toast, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. This did us for much of the rest of the day. It was unexpected but delicious and very welcome.

The hospitality we were given was wonderful and I would use this hotel again.

On 12th August 2014 my wife and I spent a lovely week’s holiday at the Poseidon Hotel, this is a traditional Greek-style hotel, situated a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Lixouri town and was easily reached from the airport via taxi (€20) to Argostoli followed by a short ferry ride (€2.60 p/p) to Lixouri.
The hotel sits on a small promenade a couple metres from the beach and the hotel owners provide free sun beds and umbrellas for use by hotel guests. Although it was the height of the season, the beach was fairly quiet and not overcrowded.

The rooms were a good size and spotlessly clean, with Greek style furnishings, a mini-fridge, safe and free air conditioning. Our room had amazing sea and mountain views across to Lassi. Our room was cleaned every day and the bed linen and towels were replaced as often as required. The bathroom was typical Greek style, which although a little dated, was fully functional and very clean.
The breakfast was a cold buffet, including a selection of fresh breads, cereals, dried fruits, Greek yoghurt, honey, jam, cheese, ham, melon, cake, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, etc.

The hotel was perfect for relaxing and winding down, being located in a quiet area of Lixouri, but only a short walk from the lively square and harbour with its many bars and restaurants. For a change of scene, ferries run every half hour from the harbour to the island capital, Argostoli.

This was our first trip to Kefalonia and we were delighted to have picked such a pleasant family-run hotel in an ideal location, with stunning views. Many thanks to Makis, Paula and family for making it a very enjoyable and memorable holiday and we hope to return in the near future.

We stayed one night here, after staying one night at The Summary. It was a little bit cheeper, a little bit further down the street and the seaview was nicer.

The lady at the hotel didn't speak English, but that wasn't a problem, she was lovely and very friendly and helpful. (She would make a call to someone to translate if needed).

We stayed here on our first visit to Kefalonia many years ago and have been back several times since. The staff, particularly Elpida ('Hope') are very welcoming and friendly and are always available if you need anything. My favourite thing is the sea view, all I can say is WOW. When you get up in the morning just go out on the balcony and take in that view, perfect. You see locals having their morning dip and can watch the ferries coming back and forth from Argostoli and you are right on the beach. Everything here is within a short walk, the square with its tavernas and all the shops. Perfect location in a fabulous place.

Rooms small, shower ridiculously small (someone with 100 kg will have to be pushed into it). One person we met (out of three) spoke some English. Half of the rooms are looking to street with lot of noise. Other half looks at the see, but it is the only part in Cephalonia that is not that attractive to swim. Plastic fake fruits and flowers...

I wrote a review for this hotel a couple of years ago and I gave 4 stars. This time I am going to give 5 for the following reasons:
- The owners renovated the rooms; new beautiful modern furniture and new TVs. The bathroom is still the same size of course, but that is not something that can change. They changed the curtains in the bathroom and added shower cabins, which is also a nice extra.
- The breakfast is still amazing for its category! I see people complaining about the breakfast being worse than 1star hotel and I would love them if they could send me a message suggesting these hotels to me. Throughout my life I have never seen a 2star hotel serving such a big buffet for breakfast.
- Location, location, location! Right in front of the sea and 500m away from the central square.
- Polite and helpful staff.
- Very clean!
- Amazing bar prices (I bought 500ml beers for 2euros each), cheaper than most bars in Lixouri.

Thank you once again for a lovely experience, we hope to visit you again!
