Rooms are a bit small and dated but staff are superb and very welcoming. Prices are very reasonable and pool food is very, very good. Breakfast is poor with minimal choice but the grounds, poo, and family atmosphere make up for this. Despite not being the best hotel I have ever been in the overall vibe means I will be back. Jeanetta on staff is an absolute gem and deserves a medal for her friendly demeanour and brilliant attitude.
Where can I start what a wonderful time was had by my wife and myself all the staff make sure you have a great time and are all so friendly and helpful they treat you as part of the family. Snacks and drinks are all top class and the prices are reasonable we shall return for a longer time next year all the best everyone.
This is our third visit to La Cite hotel and ne again we were not disappointed. Jeannette is always there to welcome us like long lost friends and makes you feel welcome and glad to be back. Nothing much in the hotel has changed within the hotel. There is an adequate breakfast with fruit and yogurt, cereals, cold meats, boiled eggs, cake, toast and jams and fresh fruit. English breakfast is available at a small charge. There are new sun loungers from our previous visit which are very comfortable and you sit around the pool to have breakfast or a snack lunch. It is a five minute walk into the town of Lixouri where there is a choice of restaurants and bars for an early evening cocktail. The ferry to Argostoli leaves every half an hour and the beach is a 2km walk and well worth the visit. There is a fridge to cool your drinks and a kettle and cups but you need to have your own tea, coffee and milk. which is not a problem with the supermarket close by We like the back room where you can sit on the balcony overlooking the mountains for the sunset We will definitely be coming back as this is now so much a home from home place for us.…
The staff are very friendly and helpful. But few things in hotel I didn't like. Cleanliness is number 1 for me, but in this hotel wasn't perfect. I could find some not properly washed spoons and cups for breakfast, ventilation system in bathroom was full of dust like wasn't cleaned fo last 5 years. Sink and mirror wasn't cleaned when we arrived, still were drops from previous guests (the same with shower cabin). The sheets and pillows were smelling with vinegar, after sleeping on them all body was smelling with vinegar. Also I could find some small holes on the sheets..these things were bothering me a lot...
Where do I start. My friend and I stayed for one week and everything was so good. The hotel is in the back streets of a lovely sleepy town, which comes alive at night in the square. It's very much 'Greek' with very few tourists, most of which are from Greece (which was lovely), no rowdy toursits/drunks, just families having a nice time. If you want nightlife and partying it is NOT the place for you! The hotel is clean, nice size rooms, fridge, comfy beds, air conditioning, a safe, a good breakfast which can be eaten by the pool if you like, the gardens are lovely and well maintained as is the nice size swimming pool. Plenty of sun beds and umbrellas in the sun or shade. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and can't do enough for you. The main square is only a few minutes on foot and is right on the water front where you can get a ferry to Argostoli the main town on Kefalonia and the airport. The town is quiet and sleepy during the day, but the square becomes alive at night with a great selection of restaurants and a reasonable number of shops/small supermarkets. There were events on in the square for 3 of the nights we were there - a vineyard tasting evening, a greek Masterchef demonstration and a book launch and party. All the town residents come and frequent the restaurants with their families during the evening so there is a lovely family atmosphere. I understand the bars stay open late, but certainly up to midnight it is wan't rowdy at all and we never heard any noise, or loud tourists the whole time we were there. The locals are all very friendly too. You can swim in the sea nearby and there is a lovely local beach, with beach bar/restaurant about 20 minutes or so walk along the coast. The bus station is just off the main square and buses go regularly to all parts of the island. We took three very reasonable price bus trips over three days to see local sights/beaches/villages which all were lovely. As a previous review states you can easily get to the airport and back from Lixouri. We just turned up at the airport and walked to the airport bus stop, taking the bus to the ferry which goes to Lixouri - it was so easy and in-expensive and a great way to start the holiday in Kefalonia. Argostoli the main town is a ferry ride away and has a good vibe. We spent the best part of a day there, walking across the river looking out for turtles, shopping and stopping for coffee and pasties. Kefalonia itself is unspoilt, Greece at it's best. I can't wait to return. Thank you to everyone at La Cite Hotel for making us so welcome and looking after us so well. X…
