This is another world. Looks like it was the military canteen when the Brocken was out of bounds to all but the military. Self-service with not much on the menu except Wurst and chips. Well you have to go for the Currywurst, don't you? Or chicken. Plenty of beer. The sort of place which adds to life's experiences but doesn't... More

Unusual place for a hotel , but on a summers day views are great if the weather is clear , not much to do except walking and hiking , which is what people come here for . Lots of people walk their dogs , hotel is clean and perfectly suitable , there is a restaurant and a bar , for... More

Unique experience! We went up on the steam train (very expensive.. 39 euros each) and we arrived in thick fog - we literally couldn't see any of the other buildings from our hotel room! We were panicking, but then the fog lifted, and WOW. The history is very interesting, and it's fascinating to look around on the plateau. It does... More

Stayed one night while on the Harzer Hexen Stieg. Arrived cold and wet after 3.30pm and were met with a very officious and impatient receptionist unfortunately, who was in a hurry to leave (reception closes at 4pm) and couldn't be bothered taking the time with three non-German speaking and one semi-fluent walker. However, this was the worst part of our... More

Stayed one night at this hotel while we were walking the Witches Trail. The Brocken is the highest peak of the Harz mountain range. We had a large well appointed room with fantastic views. The restaurant on the 8th floor was really good with friendly and efficient staff - so a previous review is maybe a wee bit misleading. The... More

I visited the Brockenhotel with a group of friends. We had taken the steam train up to the Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz mountains. The train ride was fantastic, the scenery is absolutely breath taking and the mountain is steeped in history. Unfortunately the same can not be said about the hospitality we experienced during our visit. There... More
