Staff here really are going through the motions. Maybe they're looking forward to the end of the season but they could not have cared less. The hotel side was OK although the staff were very uninterested in us. The restaurant however, oh my goodness! The staff were rude, disinterested and completely unprofessional. The food was even worse as it was barely edible and was cold and stale. This place needs to be avoided.
Stayed Friday to Wednesday in early April. Skied at a different location each day, getting the Rocky pop daily bus some of the time (or local ski bus that stops outside hotel). Fun, practical, friendly hotel. Great breakfast, even had tasty gluten free bread. Dinner felt more expensive (in line with central chamonix prices), but good food. Cheaper and good meals in les houches. No late check out available but had a shower we could use and locked luggage room. Games area is great. Bar nice. Overall a great hotel, at a good price for the room. (Almost all) staff really friendly. Ski hire in the basement more expensive than local shops, but v convenient and also ski lockers for guests.
Great for families! (Restaurants for breakfast/dinner, bar/drinks for parents after slopes, table tennis/billiards for kids, great atmosphere, friendly staff, ski/snowboard rentals). Conveniently located ~10mins by public bus from town center and Les Houches-Saint Gervais slopes base lift.
We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were so helpful and really made an effort to make our stay relaxing. The breakfast is HUGE and delicious, and the restaurant in the evening is also great, especially the pizzas! Highly recommend!
The hotel is located between Les Houches and Chamonix. 10 minutes by bus to Les Houches and 20 to Chamonix. Bus stops in front of hotel. Every 30 minutes, at least in March. I don’t know about peakseason but the buses were quite full… so better be in time. We booked half board. Perfect. Both breakfast and diner were really good. Enough choices from the menu. The bar in the centre of the hotel very pleasant. In general, staff is really friendly. Nothing wrong there. Rooms are oke, a bit small and our rooms faced the inside courtyard so we could not open a window as people were eating or drinking next to out window. Not ideal specially when the temp in the room is 23C. We stayed in a Mezzanine room with 2. You could stay with 4 but i would not recommend. With small children, maybe. Ski shop in the hotel very convenient! All in all a good hotel with options to 2 ski areas. If you want to be in the centre of a ski resort you should book somewhere else. We enjoyed our stay, father and 3 grown up sons. Thanks to the really pleasant and friendly staff!…
Ceiling heights in the bedroom did not allow us to stand up straight, neither upstairs or down. Head height at the top of the stairs was approx 4’. No outside view from either of our rooms, the view is internal, looking only onto the opposite rooms. All the corridors are painted black, very dark and tunnel like. Tin plates and cups for breakfast. Bar and restaurant service slow. On a positive the hotel was very clean, plenty hot water, good hairdryer, onsite ski hire and plenty free parking. I wouldn’t stay again.
What an amazing hotel in an amazing location, superb staff, comfy rooms with an unbelievable view, cool bar, food served at the highest quality and an amazing vibe. Well done guys and we can't wait to be back...!
The quirky Rocky Pop is the perfect base for a family ski holiday in Chamonix. We rode the buses between Les Houches and Chamonix every day and both are just minutes away. After a long lock down with limited travel it was just what we needed. The hotel is buzzing day and night and the kids loved it. The staff, food, bar and rooms were all excellent. If I had to pick one fault I’d be hard pressed but at 6’3” I did find the ceiling height in the family rooms restrictive. Easily solved by booking a suite next time. Thanks for a great time.
If yes, then definitely RockyPop is what you are looking for. Perfect location, with parking area, garden and close to a bus station. The bus service is excellent, there is every 10-15 mins bus to Charmonix and out of Les Houches. Next to the reception and close to the bar there is a playground for the young kids. There is a small area in front of the playground with sofas and tables, where you can enjoy your coffee or your drink from the bar. There are arcade games for the older kids and everyone else who feels like kid :-). Ping-pong table and pool table in a separate area. The staff very welcome and helpful. Bar service is very good with a big variety of cocktails, beers and drinks. Restaurant menu is good. The room was clean and very warm.
Staff so friendly, rooms really clean. Very handy for the shuttle bus for outside of Les Houches. Great food for half board. Waiting staff were excellent - knowledgeable, friendly, attentive. This is a great spot for family and friends to use as a base for Chamonix. Only small improvement is that I wish the beer was a bit better. Probably 3/5 for that, but the rest of it was definitely 5/5!! Highly recommended!
