We have recently stayed at Logis du Paradis on our way south, and would certainly recommend it very highly to couples and families.... it is a wonderfully renovated property with rooms, gites, huge amounts of outside space for relaxation, swimming and sports.. in the beautiful Cognac region. Our hosts were delightfully warm and welcoming, we enjoyed dinner with our fellow guests, and also a delightful breakfast. Next time we will stay longer 😀 enormous thank you to Katie, Edgar, and junior sommelier Freddie.
Our gite certainly had the wow factor, everything was just perfect. The family were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to visit again, this area is so beautiful and many places to visit.
My husband and I spent two nights in this lovely B&B. The room was spacious and clean with beautiful view over the courtyard. Each room is isolated with your own front-yard where you can enjoy the outside furniture for a read or just looking at the stars. The breakfast was simply delicious (it was one of the best croissants I've had and I'm french ;) A special thanks to the host Sally for her kindness and interesting discussions.
We spent one night on our way south and regretted not staying longer. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Edgar who showed us to our gorgeous room and made sure that we had everything we needed. Our room was on the top floor, spacious and beautifully decorated, one of the best we have seen. The ensuite bathroom was equally well decorated and everything was spotlessly clean. It felt more like a home than a hotel with lots of books and antiques around the room and the stairway. There are two large rooms upstairs and a even more gorgeous room downstairs which we would choose next time( a mere 10 euros more) partly because our room had a low beam across it and we are both tall so had to duck. There is also a guest kitchen where you can make tea etc. We asked for a meal because I have food allergies which make it difficult to eat out and we were glad we did as it was delightful and delicious. The dining room was large, again beautifully decorated with lots of character and antiques. Sally looked after us very well and was charming company. She cooked a delicious meal which I could eat and a variation for my husband which he enjoyed very much. He also sampled some local cheeses and we both loved the apricot tart. Breakfast was equally delicious and included everything you might want, freshly cooked with local ingredients. It is the lovely setting of this hotel which helps to make it so special. Converted from an old brandy distillery(the equipment is still there), quiet and peaceful with a pretty garden and nice pool(the weather was a bit chilly to try it out). Edgar recommended the nature walk along the river and this is well worth doing, we saw an otter! The Cognac region is less developed than some other areas in France and we would like to spend more time there as there was clearly lots to see and do. Sally also showed us the gites, they were fabulous. Very high standard of décor and lots of space, one had a private outdoor terrace. We would like to go back soon and stay longer, perhaps in the winter as they looked very cosy with wood burning stoves. Such a special place with warm and welcoming hosts, we thought it was perfect. It was also incredibly good value for money, given the extremely high standard of the accommodation and food.…
This was our second stay and it was even better than our first as we made use of the swimming pool this time due to the hot weather. Exquisite accommodation. Big comfortable beds, spotlessly clean rooms, toiletries provided, hairdryer etc. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate outside both evenings and Edgar provided delicious meals which were more than ample in terms of serving sizes. Breakfast is plentiful with cereals, fresh fruit juice, fruit salad, bread, croissants, jams and the option of boiled eggs. Katie, Edgar and Sally make this a truly comfortable place to stay and we hope to go back next year.
