Beniya Mukayu is heaven on earth. Staying there for two nights was one of the most incredible and memorable experiences of our lives. When one of us mentions it, we sigh, smile, and are transported away by the otherworldly memories of Beniya Mukayu. This boutique hot spring resort is nestled in the woods in a tiny village. Beautiful architecture and...

Couple of my friends recommended us to go. Despite the high price during this high season, I just give it a try. I made the right choice. The hotel is a little remote (which many people consider this as the major downside of this hotel). I am driving from Takayama and therefore it's not too bad for me. Please be...

I was (unfortunately) only one night at this beautiful ryokan, managed by its owners along with a fantastic crew. It provides such a peaceful and beautiful setting and authentic japanese experience. I recommend to have a japanese room to accentuate your local experience. Great confort even sleeping on the floor! The hot tub (natural spring water) outside on the balcony...

Dinner and breakfast are absolutely delicious and indeed a beautiful artwork. Appreciate the great services provided by all staffs. Best weather to enjoy onsen in such beautiful ryokan! One thing to highlight, to ensure privacy of public onsen for male which the indoor onsen and some shower areas are visible for those guests who stand at the balcony. This is...

We were very impressed from the moment we walk towards the Ryokan. Upon entering the door you will feel the spaciousness. We felt the calm and serenity within the Ryokan. We were greeted by the front office staff and were led to a seating area to do registration. They then showed us around the Ryokan. The room is huge with...

We spent 3 nights here at the end of October. We chose this hotel as a place to relax after 10 days in Tokyo and before going on to walk in Shikoku. Our experience at Beniya was all we could have wished for. The hotel is beautiful, elegant, our room had a western bed and the private onset on our...

The hotel is beautiful. The building is totally integrated with the surrounding nature. The rooms are very comfortable and all have a private hot spring. The daily rate includes a delicious breakfast (western or Japanese style) and an incredible kaiseki dinner. And last but not least, the service is absolutely perfect. We had an excellent spa treatment and a soba...

This Relais and Chateau ryokan is not actually located in Kagaonsen but in a small town which is very close. Lovely contemporary room, wonderful food and service. The owner has developed his own line of beauty products. The shampoo was wonderful. Only sold in the hotel shop. So if you like the products as much as I did be sure...

A lovely stay, decor is simplicity with comfort and elegance, room comes with private onsen facing green, not a fantastic view but our Japanese room was comfortable and reasonable size, toiletry was of good standard, the owner of the hotel gave a tea ceremony to welcome guest in his traditional kimono, which was with a level of elegance and gracefulness...
