Araya Totoan`history extends back to 1639, starting with an order by the ruler of the Maeda Family, to protect the Yamashiro hot spring, which he owned. We have been running for 18th generations. You can enjoy Kitaoji Rosanjin`s works, Kutani ware and contemporary arts in everywhere our ryokan. Our ryokan is located in very near from Kanazawa-city, 30 min by train, and from Komatsu airpot, 30 min by car. We hope our guests are able to feel the essence of traditional Japanese ryokan, and will offer you stillness, cleaness, a comfortable and relaxed environment.

We were after the most traditional luxury ryokan experience we could find in Ishikawa prefecture. The prerequisite was that it be aimed predominantly at Japanese clients (why bother coming to Japan if you’re after an experience for foreigners?). Araya Totoan did not disappoint.

Thank you for your feedback in the hotel's online visitors' book. I will pass on your kind comments to our all staffs in our Ryokan. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay, three pubulic onsen baths,Kaiseki meal and traditional style of Japanese Ryokan. We think very importantly to welcoming, see our guests off and communicate face-to-face. We try to do our best in maintaining hot spring resources as natural possible in order to provide our guests with a traditional Ishikawa Kaga experience. We are very sorry that your shuttle request didn't go as you expected. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Sincerely yours, Araya-totoan, Waka-okami

The guest room is very good - no much to complain. There is no nature view from the guest room due to the restriction of the area. But from the half open-air bath there is japanese garden style view for you to look at. Also you do not need to worry about privacy. However, not

Our experience at Araya Totoan was wonderful and would definitely go again. We arrived at Kagaonsen station by JR and was picked up on time by the ryokan's shuttle. Upon arrival, we were shown to our room and greeted with green tea and mochi. The room was super clean and was

This ryokan is on the edge of Kanazawa in an area not strong on English. However the place is magnificent with hot springs piped into the ryokan, excellent japanese quisine and sufficient english in the house to ensure that the stay is hassle free. It also has a neat bar next
