Great view, comfy large room but the bathroom was cramped. Absolutely amazing view from the room and from the restaurant terrace.

Beds were 6/10 (I am a picky sleeper) but we were tired from hiking so I was able to get some decent sleep.

The staff was accommodating and polite. The restaurant is more expensive than alternatives in the area and the food can be hit or miss. My recommendation is to try the most traditional options (ciorbă/tocăniță/pastramă) and stay away from the fine dining-ish items from the menu.

Great location with a nice view, perfect for a hike to Magura, situated at 1h distance from the accommodation. The room was big but the bathroom was very tiny.
They didn’t mention on their website that massage, horse riding and other activities were not available due to pandemic.
Everything clean, including the sauna were you can spend some relaxing time.
Food is expensive but portions are large.
Friendly, helpful and always smiling staff.
Overall, good experience, however the price/night was not justifiable.

Nice location with beautiful mountain surroundings, but if you are a couple travelling with a child you should know that this is not a child friendly facility. Me, my husband and our 2 year old son were supposed to spend New Year’s Eve there. We had booked and paid in advance for the full 4 days we were to spend there, but on the evening of our arrival we were informed that our son isn’t welcome. The owner’s wife spoke more than rudely saying that their place isn’t suitable for a child that laughs out loud, plays or shows any kind of discontent, and if our child does that, he MUST be handled. As a family, we strongly believe in empathy, kindness and a lot of explaining as a child is concerned, but that woman seemed to suggest totally different methods. I considered completely out of line the way the owner’s wife spoke, as it is not the way that someone working in tourism should speak to one’s clients. Our friends’ six year old daughter literally burst into tears not understanding what we had done wrong, and especially what she and our son had done wrong as they were only playing and having fun.
It saddens me that a location that seemed to show potential turned out to be a huge disappointment.

I'm calling to book a double room, they told me that the request should be done via e.mail. Ok, I've made the request, mentioning that I don't want any meal included in the packet. They told me that they can't exclude this possibility. Ok, I want a room anyway.
The answer was: Sorry, we just booked the last 2 rooms. So, between the request and the reply they booked the last rooms for that period? Seriously?

I've had the most humiliating experience in a restaurant that one possibly can.
Intending to come and stay at the Nobilis hotel for my next vacation, i came with my family to eat some great food and experience the most astonishing view in the area.
Outside , i found a terrace where two families with children were eating. We were three adults with a 5 months baby and a 2 year toddler. We ordered a 4 courses lunch, the baby was sleeping in the stroller and the toddler playing in the playzone outside. The other families finished the food and left, so we were alone on the terrace.
After serving the first courses, the waiters came with the hot steaks and fries.
Out of nowhere came a very nervous lady , who began lashing out at the staff and told us they do not serve on the terrace, the waiters made a mistake. We should move upstairs where they usually serve. I asked how about the other families that were there eating- she said they made an exception because they had kids. Hello- we also have little kids. But no.
The rude lady, which i understood later in shock, was the owner. The staff took everything from the table and moved it upstairs.
So, we took all the luggage that little kids need, woke the baby, disassembled the stroller, took the crying toddler from the playground, and climbed two long rows of stairs to arrive at the first floor restaurant.
There we found our steaks and fries cold and ate them in the most nervous state. In the restaurant there were only two tables occupied.
The waiters were very polite, with their eyes looking down in shame.
Very expensive food, but astonishing view and location.
Shame on you, owner lady, you should know that you never disgrace the staff in front of the clients and you never humiliate the customers like you humiliated us.
So, dear future customers, if you want to stay at a beautiful location, to have one of the most wonderful views , do come. But take care, and expect to face the most rude owner i have ever encountered.
Romania, oh wonderful country , inhabited sometimes by unworthy people.

We spend with friends and family 4 nights around new years eve at Nobillis.
It is a great location at the beginning of the National Park in these wonderful montains. Take your hiking shoes pkus walking sticks or touring ski's and some equipment for montain tours. There are great possibilities for hikes and tours!

The owners of Nobillis are very nice and friendly people and you can feel together with the very nice atmosphere of the Residence that you are welcome and appreciated.

The food is great and very tasty - like at your grandmothers!

We all enjoyed our stay and the programm: traditional new years programm, fireworks, fire plus hot wine in the yard and discussions with the owners.
We come back for sure!

The hotel is a small one, approx. 10 rooms, out of which 2 apartments. The hotel is situated at the end of a paved road, in a spectacular location. From the rooms, there is a superb view over the mountains. I think that is one of the best views in Romania.

There is also an "a la carte" restaurant on-site, terrace and a trambouline outside for childen. The children also benefit from a playground on the third floor of the building, however with limited activities.

The prices of the "a la carte" restaurant are high and we found the quality of the meals as average.

The rooms are nicely decorated, however they may require some refurbishments in some spots. The double-bed is in fact composed out of 2 single beds put togheter. This cause a very hard and uncomfortable area in the middle of the beds.

There is no air-conditioning in the rooms, however I think that there are no such high temperatures in the summer, considering the high altitude (1200m).

There is a mini-bar in the room filled with drinks and small and rather old tv. The reception is poor or inexistent some times. The bathroom is very small for a 4* hotel.

We had some unpleasant moment with the hotel owner which did not allowed us to go upstairs with 3 bottles of water (we were 6 persons) and some crackers bought from a nearby store. She insisted to go back with them in the car. Very unprofessional.

The breakfast is rather average: 3 types of cheese, 3 types of salami, eggs and sausages, jam, yogurt, fruits, orange juice. We stayed 4 nights and there was no variation in the menu.

All in all, considering also the high price of the accomodation (over 4000 RON for 4 nights for 1 appartment and 1 double room), there is a low value for money. Adding to this the attitude of the owner, I will not reccomend the hotel for future travelers. Sure, the view is fantastic, but there are many offers in the area which may offer the same view and quality of service at a much lower price.

After a long and tiring mountain hike, we stopped for dinner at Nobillis guesthouse (from latin, but double "l" reads better!). We were "greeted" by a woman-Cerberus who, after measuring us with her eyes, consulted with the guy at the desk and invited us to wait on a hidden terrace, under the pretext that the kitchen staff could not cope with so many commands. Here we ordered beer and were given the menu book to choose our dish. After fifteen minutes we were invited upstairs in the restaurant (meal ready) where – amazingly – we were the only customers! Outside, on a terrace with a splendid view, a group of high status German tourists had just finished dining… So, German "nobilis" were not supposed to face Romanian "plebeians", although we were decently dressed, but with mountain equipment. The food was really bad (nothing like natural/traditional, with “house” soup full of pasta and meat garnish made of potato flakes from the market store) and prices – extremely high.
To conclude, this is an alleged snobbish hotel with kitschy decorations on the walls and staffed with villagers dressed in starched shirts with bow tie, mimicking the kindness and good fit. The only advantage is the placement in a dream natural scenery (but they have no merit in that) and they take advantage as they can, especially of foreign tourists. Let them flay the skin off them, I no longer go!
Trip Advisor should do a re-evaluation of the location especially in the way personnel is treating regular customers, who come here to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains rather than showing off their expensive cars and toilets.

Bogdan,
Travel Journalist

Response from Florin A, Owner at Nobillis - Carpathian Residence
Responded Jul 27, 2016
Dear Barabog, Thank you being our guests and taking your time to write this long review. We want to assure you that the Nobillis - Carpathian Residence team, consisting entirely of "villagers" with a lot of common sense, beyond that pejorative and insulting use of yours, treats with maximum respect and without a trace of discrimination all guests who visit us. Please allow us to clarify some issues raised by you: - After you have arrived, you were invited to wait in the bar terrace with the same splendid view as the restaurant, not a hidden terrace. The reason was that the restaurant has to be rearranged and cleaned, after all the tables has been occupied. - Mashed potatoes are always made from fresh potatoes, not flakes. - Soup of the day (we don't have "house soup" in our menu) was a summer tomato soup and pasta with lovage, appreciated by everyone who ate it in that day, as very tasty. - Interior design was developed by famous designers from Cass Design, Corina and Sorin Saftescu, and any professional review of their impressive portfolio does not mention the word "kitschy". It is difficult for us to understand, however, where so much frustration and venom in your words. But what appears clear is that, as a travel journalist, you are not too familiar with gastronomy and design. With best regards, Florin Adorean - owner - Nobillis-Carpathian Residence P.S.: In your position as a journalist, we may respectfully advise you to limit yourself to write in Romanian language because you are not familiar with English, too. "Toilets" usually translates "bathrooms", we suppose you wanted to write about clothing :-).
