My wife and I spent two nights here on a special deal - bed /breakfast and dinner for £300. Great value. We had the Lawrence Olivier room (nos5) on the ground floor. Huge room with vast ceilings and an enormous square bay window that was big enough to hold a desk, table and two armchairs - it was almost a...

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights here. Rooms are well appointed and spacious - we were in the grounds, not the main hotel building, but it's very close still to all amenities so didn't make any difference to us from that perspective. Dined in both the brasserie and more formal restaurant and enjoyed both. Food was good quality and service was...

Dear ABC123Z, many thanks for your review, I am so glad you enjoyed your three night break at Highbullen - and nice of you to highlight that you don't have to be a golfer to enjoy the facilities here - there are so many things to do. We have just recently opened up our deer hide down in the woods,...

Stayed in one of the potting garden rooms which was comfortable and well positioned just away from the main hotel. Only thing to note was that the shower was a little merger but understandable given the age of the hotel itself. Ate in both the cellar bar and main restaurant, no complaints from either and can happily recommend. Prepared with...

Dear LittleLaughingBuddha, Many thanks for your review following your recent stay - you are correct, the views are spectacular. Delighted that you also found that our food is worth coming back for - chef really is delivering some wonderful dishes both in the Devon View and Cellars restaurant. We look forward to welcoming you back soon, regards, Ronnie

The Highbullen Hotel is a traditional country house hotel set in rural surroundings. We stayed in one of the rooms away from the main hotel building in the 'Gardeners Cottages' which had apparently (according to a member of staff) recently been renovated. The standard of the room was good - equipment was all working, the room and bathroom was spotless!...

Dear CliveGerrard, Thank you for your review and my apologies in the delay in my response to you - a bit longer than you had to wait on that busy Saturday night. I appreciate your understanding, and am delighted that it did not spoil the overall enjoyment of your stay with us. I have passed your kind comments on to...

Quirky and quintessentially English gem. Stayed for three nights with children, parents in law and dog. Loved the location, great facilities and super helpful charming staff. Don't bother with the local pubs, the food is better at the hotel and good value too. Stayed at the dog friendly rooms at the bottom of a small hill, very spacious with stunning...

Dear Hugh L, Ah, Hugh, if only we could control the weather as well...... Glad to hear that it didn't spoil your family break at Highbullen. We have had some beautiful days this year, and seen our guests sunbathing around the outdoor pool with a snack and a cocktail or two - if only we could promise that every day....

We stayed at the Highbullen with an excellent voucher from Travelzoo, this included £60 towards your food, 2 nights accommodation, tennis, use of the pool and a bottle of prosecco. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The 2 restaurants serve good food and a good selection of wine. I can recommend the feature rooms and we...

First, let me say that I did not stay at the hotel, but I definitely would if I was visiting Devon again. I came across it quite by accident, when staying in a holiday cottage in Chittlehampton. I arrived with raging sciatica and was at my wits end with the pain. I googled spas with massage in the area and...

We recently visited this wonderful hotel for the second time and hopefully will visit again. It's a beautiful old house with a warm mellow feeling about it, we upgraded and stayed in the Louis seiz room in the main building, a very light, spacious room with fabulous views from the large bay windows. Reception staff very friendly and helpful, good...
