We arrived to a friendly welcome from Walter, and easy parking for our car. We loved The Chalet. It's in a peaceful location on the lake shore, but it's still only a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants over the footbridge built in 2015. We stayed in Unit 2, which has two bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a... More

The feeling of waking up and drawing the curtains to a bright sunny day over Lake Tekapo - absolute bliss! The Chalet is THE place to stay when visiting Lake Tekapo. It is walking distance to the lakefront and the Church of the Good Shephard, and yet is quiet with minimal traffic coming through the road. The town centre (restaurants... More

We spent 3 nights at the Chalet in one of the Garden Studios and absolutely loved our stay! We were initially disappointed not to be able to get a Lake view room but we needn't have worried; we had free access to the garden and from there fantastic views of the lake and the mountains. Our reception was very warm,... More

We stayed 3 nights and could not have been more comfortable or pleased. We rented unit 1 which has a commanding view of Lake Tekapo, king bed, fully contained. Zita and hubby were incredibly friendly, helpful, informative and gave us details on all things local. Stay here rather than anywhere else in Tekapo. It it literally off the road so... More

Just out of the reach of the main "township", which is a 10 minute stroll away. The owners couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. Highly recommended, and we will be back here when we return to Tekapo!

Lake Tekapo is a beautiful little town, and The Chalet is a fantastic place to stay if you are coming through. Upon arrival, Zita immediately updated us on weather forecasts for the next couple of days, and even allowed us to choose from other rooms that were available. We ended up in Room 3, upon her recommendation and we were... More

Stayed at The Chalet at Lake Tekapo....absolutely amazing view and the accommodation was excellent. From being welcomed by our host who was very knowledgeable about the area to the little touches in our unit. Would highly recommend a stay at The Chalet.

We highly recommend staying at The Chalet - it's worth it. We had a one-bedroom ground floor unit with kitchen facilities, a living area with table and sliding glass doors opening to a patio. The Chalet is extremely well-maintained, in perfect condition -- pure quality. The mountains and water views from our unit and the patio are breathtaking, the air... More

Had a wonderful stay at the Chalet boutique. Had a gorgeous view of the lake, and the room was very spacious and clean. Great to have a kitchenette as well. The owner was very friendly and helpful in giving suggestions of what to do and where to eat, even digging up some Lego for my son to play with which... More

My wife and I stayed overnight at this wonderful location for a trip from Christchurch to Dunedin by the scenic route. Walter and Zita were very helpful, providing plenty of recommendations for local activities, dinner and breakfast. The room we had was ideal with all required facilities including cooking and laundry if required. The room opened onto the garden which... More
