As a solo traveler, it is too expensive. $25 is too much for not having hot water or in room WiFi. The room was clean and the view nice, but for the price I'd probably not stay again. I originally stayed because of the "community hostal" idea.

This fairly new hostel seems to be run by local Cuenca people. It was clean and well serviced by a pleasant and willing staff despite our language difficulties. Our room was well presented and offered superb views over the town and to the mountains. There was no heating in the room but plenty of blankets and doona on the bed....

We ventured to Achik Wasi our 2nd night in Saraguru after reading a lovely review in Lonely Planet & after staying in a rather dumpy (but cheap) hostel the night prior. It was pricier than we usually pay for hostels but the pickings are quite slim in for decent lodging in Saraguru. It is located up a rather steep hill...

I stayed here because it is a community project, and I liked this idea. However, I was a bit disappointed, but I think actually I was a bit unlucky, because I believe that staying here can be an amazing experience! The staff is nice, smiling but sometimes a bit curtly. Still, they will gladly help you for whatever you need,...

The town or Saraguro is predominately populated by the Saraguro people and they are the quintessential Ecuadorians Their native clothing is still worn through the town. The hostal rooms were beautifully decorated and many have views overlooking the city. Although on top of the hill, the walk is not bad and a taxi only costs $1 from the city center...

THis hostal is a community project and like this developing country, Ecuador, this is not the Ritz Carlton -- the staff was not available whenI arrived solo on reservation and I had to wait for 1/2 hour-- actually not waiting but looking all over the hostal for someone to assist me. Woman staff was cooking in the kitchen when I...

Really pretty place with indigenous staff: this must not be mistaken for the Ritz-Carlton but for a small indigenous town in southern Ecuador, it's a great place with friendly people, solid but comfortable beds, clean bathrooms with hot water, towels and really everything that a traveler of the world will appreciate. The staff went out of their way to feed...

We work for a tourism magazine, and we are happy to declare that we included this nice hotel in our article. Its peaceful, quiet and has a impressive view over the village of Saraguro.Just 5 minutes walk from the center of the village and at the same time very isolated on a hill. I recomand it happily!

The room was clean and pleasant with an expansive view over the town. Wifi worked well. There was a TV, but no English channels. We were the only guests and maybe because of this we had the feeling that the staff were prepared to do the bare minimum necessary for us. We had booked a room in advance, but they...
