Excellente outside facilities as pools, gacebos for berthdays, weddings, partys. Excellent ocean views.

Rooms need special attentions for fix the fascilities as bathroom, paint, entretaiments as TVs, need to change the furniture.

Employees, some need to be more professional on your welcome and admition process.

We wanted a place that was off the beaten path of San Juan. This place has incredible views and sits on prime real estate. We also had a balcony overlooking the ocean. It’s also right next to the Guajataca Tunnel which offers a great family hike on the ocean side. That’s the plus side.

On the down side, the place needs some upgrades and renovations. The typical basics seemed to be missing. It would have been a tremendous upgrade to have a mini fridge and coffee maker in our room. A hair dryer for the wife and daughter wouldn’t hurt. Bed was comfy. The included breakfast was just ok. The real bummer is that beach has massive rocks so it’s dangerous to swim in the ocean there.

Trust the poor side of the reviews when considering this for a family trip. The kids had zero Wi-Fi which could be a good or bad thing depending on your family dynamics.

The staff is very friendly and there is a lot of places to eat in the area but don’t come here unless you got here by rental car. Also a ton of great natural surroundings and only a short drive to crash boat beach.

We held our wedding ceremony there in early April. You could not pick a more beautiful spot. After we arrived the staff helped with everything we asked for and pulled off the wedding day spectacularly. 5 stars for while we were present. However, 1 star for communication in advance of our arrival. We had booked the venue almost a year in advance and at first worked with Lexi, who was wonderful and very responsive. However, she left and then we were passed from hand to hand all year long often to people who didn't speak English (even though if you call the front desk there is always someone there who is fluent.) We went through 3 or 4 coordinators throughout the year all of whom were terrible at emailing, having foresight, or working with us at all. Everyone we worked with failed to CC my Fiancée on the very few return emails we actually did receive despite repeated reminders to do so. Most of our emails were ignored, including three to the manager of the hotel, who we reached out to in desperation only weeks ahead of our arrival as we tried to finalize some details. She completely ignored us. No response at all. We had great difficulty getting confirmation emails for rooms we had booked, and overall the pre-arrival experience almost could not be worse.

Even so, given that the team on the ground pulled it off and we had a beautiful day our recommendation would be to hire a Wedding Day Coordinator/Planner who is local and can show up at the hotel to crack the whip. Without her we would not have been able to accomplish anything.

I wanted to love this place. It has so much potential and I love supporting small business owners on the island. I didn't expect a 5 Star hotel but this is barely a 1-star. Let's begin with the pros.
PROS
Super friendly staff
Spectacular Ocean Views
Beautiful grounds
Nice balcony with ocean view

CONS
The bathroom is tiny and the ceiling was peeling. Hot water was inconsistent.
The ceiling in the room had black areas that looked like mold. I was afraid of breathing too deeply
You couldn't leave the balcony door open as there were no screens and bugs entered.
No Wifi in rooms and limited throughout common areas. Smart TV could not connect to Wifi.
No microwave or mini-fridge. In an area devoid of restaurants this is limiting and so you were forced to eat at their restaurant that doesn't open until 4:30pm.
The included breakfast was scrambled eggs, a piece of ham or sausage, maybe a piece of bread (it wasn't always available) coffee and Apple Jacks cereal ( no alternative available)
Dinner was low quality for the price and super salty. There were 3 of us and all our dishes were salty.
The pools need resurfacing.
The hot tub is not hot.

It seems the owners are relying on the view to attract visitors but that is not enough. There are dozens of nicer, cleaner and cheaper places to stay throughout the island that have the same spectacular views. Until this place has a major renovation I'll avoid it.

Hotel guajataca enjoys priveledged views of the Atlantic Ocean, and is a small hotel. However, it has limitations that the administration doesn’t seem particularly interested in resolving. For instance, the hotel rooms have spotty if any cell phone coverage, wi fi is only available in comunal areas. When asked for a different room that have access, they mentioned they could not and that I was stuck with my problem- albeit, when I made the reservations on Travelocity, it stated wi fi was available. Furthermore, we went to the restaurant and waited a good 45 minutes for our appetizers, mind you, only three tables were taken and one of those three had three people sitting. It’s unfortunate this place can’t provide better service and amenities given its location...

I am from, Maryland and I stayed at El Guajataca during early March along with some friends. Everything was excellent, starting with the beachfront location and compounded by the attention given by all staff, even from Manolo, the unofficial mascot, a stranded cat adopted by the employees. The price is below the typical lodging prices for this type of prime locations and if you use booking websites, you might get even better deals. There is free breakfast offered for guests and the food offered for lunch and dinner were really good. However if guests opt for eating someplace else, there is plenty of restaurants and fast food nearby. We certainly enjoyed our time there and we recommend this hotel.

First of all, let me give a very special mention to Thomas for his outstanding service; the administration of this hotel does not know how wonderful he is.
Why I gave 2 stars to the hotel? When I arrive to room 117, we did not have hot water and the front desk had no knowledge about it and no one to correct it. The day of our check out they left us without water in the morning. The administration made no effort to communicate with us, did not even left us a note on the door nor attempted to call us on our cellphone ( which they requested when we check in). When we returned from breakfast, we found no water on the room and people drilling and hammering away in the room next door. We had to walk twice to the front desk to asked what was going on. No explanations other than there is a plumbing issue. No attempt to make arrangements for us to take a shower someplace. Towels? The thinnest and no towels on the pool area. TV? 4 channels and terrible image quality. WIFI? Not in the room. Pool? The bars to enter the pool were removed and the holes are there. Jacuzzi? It was cold! The window in our shower had no screen and the paint around it was peeling. The blanket had like cigarette burns and I requested a new one, which they never provided. In general, if you need anything from housekeeping after hours, TOUGH LUCK! The breakfast was delicious, but the current set up is slow and awkward.
They claim we were in one of the renovated rooms, but there are so many problems.
I would have love a coffee maker in the room to have coffee in the morning with that gorgeous view, but none available.
The hotel is under renovation. The view is magnificent, but the hotel has too many things wrong for me.

The location of this hotel is amazing and beautiful. But the hotel itself needs to be completely gutted out and upgraded. We barely had light in our room and bathroom. Rooms are gross and smelled of mildew. We were here for a wedding.. so we had no choice but to stay here. I booked through Expedia and I asked for different room bc the pictures online doesn’t look at all like the actual rooms. I was completely grossed out and at first I was told to call Expedia to complain.. I’m not sure how that’s Expedia’s issue when you take pictures on your best room and give me the worst on the property. Would not recommend unless the upgrade and fix the mildew/mold issue.

Bed was as hard as a rock and the pillows felt as if they were from 50 years ago. Jacuzzi did not work and the windows in the bathroom never closed. I could not get a restful night sleep here at all. My allergies were acting up the whole time, which probably means that room has some form of mold or dust in it
DON'T COME HERE!
We ended up having to Airbnb a place as plan B

Although still remodeling our visit was amazing! The infinity pool is beautiful and for $20 you can buy a day pass. The restaurant has a very nice menu at a reasonable prize with vegan dishes. 5 stars also to Janeries, our server who went above and beyond to find me an Ocean Lab IPA that was stored by the pool restaurant which was closed. I will be back!
