We stayed in the little Woodcutter Cabin in the Forest. Very clean and eco friendly. Stunning views and wildlife right outside the door. Fantastic price too. Our only complaint is that there was no two seater or sofa to sit on in an evening, just hard back chairs, so not very romantic or relaxing after a long day exploring. Eco... More

So sorry folks you didn't discover how to get the best out of the period chairs. The secret is in the use of the cushions provided. The tapestry upholstered, not hard back, American Rocking Chair, an everlasting and ever popular design for snoozing on porches, is best used with one of our substantial cushions at the base of the spine.... A well hidden idyll in the forests near Nethy Bridge full of an assortment of bird life and little opportunity to make too much noise. A nice location with various cabin options quite close to each other which is fine unless you have precious and overly sensitive guests staying nearby. Staff were helpful and welcoming. The owners were absent and... More

Well what happened here Von Doom? N.B. From our website “Considerate Guests Please be mindful of the expectations of guests in all accommodations to enjoy the peacefulness of The Lazy Duck... For everybody’s benefit we ask for a respectful quiet period in and around the hostel between 11pm and 8am. This allows for outdoor folk off early and young children... More

Once again this place never fails to amaze us!! David and the staff are just brilliant (not forgetting the awesome wee dog!). Our group just back from two nights in the hostel. A place which we continue to return to year in and year out. We are always sad to leave. If you want eco/rustic trip away from the hustle... More

Thanks so much folks. You keep coming back, boisterous yet well within the bounds of consideration to other guests and always both entertaining and appreciative. Thanks too for leaving the hostel so very well for us to prepare for that evening's new arrivals. Can't wait for the 'movie'! More

Just back from camping at the Lazy duck camping ground...We stayed one night and absolutely loved it. The site is beautiful, clean, tranquil and totally relaxing. That's really kind. Yes, Team Lazy Duck is usually a well oiled wee machine and it's good to know you were well looked after. Of course we include the ducks in that! Haste ye back. David & Team Lazy Duck More

We have just returned from an amazing camping holiday staying at the Lazy Duck. It was our first holiday with our 1 year old daughter and it was quite an adventure to take her camping. The camping ground is beautiful and very peaceful and she had so much freedom to crawl around on the grass. She loved seeing the ducks... More

That's a lovely response; thank you. You would be surprised maybe at just how few camping grounds provide a shelter for bad weather or even just to cozy up in around a fire in the evening. Our thoughts about children camping is that unless they enjoy their first experience in a tent it may be a long time before they... More

We stayed in the Duck's Nest for three nights and it really was the best, most special place to be. We loved it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and they really had thought of everything; crocs and dressing gowns (for going to the hot tub / sauna) - it really is the wee stuff that makes it perfect.... Totally agree! The bush shower so often takes folk by surprise; they come out glowing and all fired up to tell their friends. Thanks particularly for your kind comments to our housekeepers Kinga and Lucka. They are treasures and always prepare the Duck's Nest, Woodman's Hut, hostel and Lambing Bothy with a view to 'Wowing' the next pair of guests.... More

Wonderful relaxing break, great new Bothy. Wood burner is the star and outside shower is better than many hotels. Maybe missing a few hooks to hang clothes tho'. If you are into something different and want to totally chill out then this is the place.

Thanks so much folks for being among the first visitors to the Lambing Bothy. It was good to hear from you on departure all the things you had hoped for on booking and found to be there both in the hut and its surrounding 6 acres. Thanks too for reminding us that we had yet to get a good clothes... More

Had to continuously tell myself that it was real it was that beautiful. Thank you so much for one of the most chilled, amazing weekends of my life yet. So glad that the Woodman's Hut hit the spot for you. We have to remember that however well we here do in creating such spaces for guests, those spaces and all that surrounds them here work only if the guests themselves have that special kind of energy to respond. Clearly you do. From what you say you will do so... More

The Lazy Duck Hostel is just amazing. We stayed here one night when we walked the Speyside Way in one of their cottages. It is a sort of duck sanctuary with very cute wooden cabins in the forest. Also sitting in a hottub in the snow is something we will remember for a while. Very much recommended!

I stayed for just a night with a friend but we had a wonderful time and I will definitely return in the future. It was my idea of a perfect hostel. Very small and homely and very intrigued by how it was all built and the story behind it. Despite only staying for one night we were made to feel... More
