My wife and I once had an incredible experience staying at the Corp Hotel, Dubai (a few years ago), and thought nothing would ever equal it. Well, The Potter's Heron at Ampfield, Romsey runs it a very close second. We just spent two incredible nights at this hotel and restaurant. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the always smiling... Lovely staff, food at attached restaurant was good (the crumble and custard desert was great!) Bed wasn't a double, but two singles pushed together, which is never a good thing. I slept ok on one side of the bed.

Very average for a £200 a night room. It was their last room and it was dark and dreary, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was also acceptable. There was a wedding on the night we stayed and there was an adjoining door to the next room, there were lots of people in this room... More

We had two rooms booked here, upon entering you are greeted by damp smell. The bathrooms are not upto premier inn standards and really need updating, silicon issues... Beds comfy but pillows awful. Found the menu over priced, decided to have breakfast elsewhere...... Will not be returning as for the cost it represents poor value.

A friend and client of mine was having her wedding at the potters heron, the staff kept knocking the door from the moment I got there (09:45) until 12:05, and creating problems for the bride by; knocking on the door every 20 minutes hurrying her when she was only 5 minutes late for the service (wedding was at 12:00 she... Room was clean and a good size, bed v comfortable, excellent shower and wi-fi speeds. V impressed with the reception staff who were attentive, charming and keen to help. The restaurant was equally good, mid range prices but worth the money and overall I was very happy. I stay in around 30 hotels a year on business and this is... More

The Hotel had 3 weddings on we I stayed and sadly this reflected in the service both check in and check out was a very long and drawn out affair, that said the one poor lady trying to manage it all remained upbeat. Overall the service during our stay could have been a lot better, the high guest numbers should... More

A reasonably nice hotel and restaurant. I stayed and ate here and the food and service was great (but breakfast was lousy). The rooms are nice but not perfect as some have an odour. It was very quiet and comfortable. There is ample parking. Breakfasts is not made to order but rather in hot pots. I was disappointed to find... More

This was booked by a recommendation, and not disappointed, the bar area is clean and inviting, plenty of space to sit and enjoy a meal or just relax for a coffee, The rooms are just what you need, (water pressure superb so great shower facilities) Staff great and attentive, stayed on Sunday 4th sept, late drinks served by night porter,... Last minute booking for me and the missus, very nice hotel with attached pub and dining in a lovely quiet area. Could do with a little redecorating and the plumbing looking at as every time someone ran the water next door it was very audible but apart from that well worth a stay.
