It is an impressive monastery very well restored. It exceeded our expectations. The Parador is a magnificent monastery is nested in the middle of an idyllic spot on the slopes of Sil river, about 27 km from the city of Ourense. The access is not easy but when you arrive it is compensated by the peace of the place. It...

Having several years in a Benedictine monastary, I found this and the entire sacred valley quite interesting. Given its location, we were fortunate in that the restaurant was one of the best of any Parador. The menu, the staff and the wine list were all superb.

Let's start with the positive. The building was rehabbed wonderfully and kep immaculate. True, it was somewhat sterile. The restaurant was very good, appearance, setting, staffing, food. Now to the dark side, On arrival at check-in the day manager, Daniel Cortes, was so arrogant and uncaring we eventually checked out after one night, having paid in advance for two nights...

We had visited the monastery church before and were very much looking forward to staying in the Parador. It is superbly located and the building, and the way it has been converted, is beautiful. Unfortunately the majority of the rooms are far smaller than in a normal Parador. Room 103 proved quite unacceptable in that the window sill is at...

We like a mixture of old and new features and decoration and thought that this Parador was very stylish. The original building has masses of history but the recent conversion has superimposed a modern layer so that it is clear what is old and what is new. The room, superior, was large and decorated in a smart modern style but...

Excellent hotel in a beautiful historic building offering superb service. The setting of the hotel is magnificent, secreted in the outstanding beauty of the Canons do Sil. Great food and excellent local Ribera Sacra wines. A calming experience!

Very impressive, great evening restaurant but lacking in lounge areas and the breakfast room was very stark and not in keeping with the place. Walking is the main activity with very little else to discover in the immediate area. Quite high so can be cool but couldn't understand why the higher cost than other Paradores

What a delightful Parador to discover - stylish accommodation and wonderful bedroom with a view. Helpful information provided at key points gave the history much more meaning. Guidance for walks around and within was all clear.

We have stayed in two other paradors in this week alone and many more in the past and I have found this one sadly lacking. On arrival we were given a room which was small and looked tatty and tired. The floor was marked and the room looked as if it needed redecorating. The toilet didn't work. When I asked...

It's worth the struggle to get up here, roads leading to it are very small so plan very carefully, on a big bike some of the climbs are very tight and twisty. Plan it well on google earth. The final drop down to the parking area could be trouble in the wet so take it easy. Once here it is...
