We stayed here a few years ago, the accommodation, food, service and location were excellent. Great pool, close proximity to the beach and external attractions, overall, a lovely place to spend a relaxing holiday. Would return in a heat beat
We stayed here a few years ago, and this stay we could see the hotel needed some refurbishment, the bathroom wasn't great. But having said that it was very clean. It's in a good location to bars etc. Nice pool area, plenty of sun beds. Bar is reasonably priced too, staff always pleasant. All in all a nice stay.
This is an excellent hotel with friendly staff indoor and outdoor pools reasonable bar prices including tapas during part of our stay. The hotel was frequented by Spanish families during the weekend with entertainment in Spanish but hey we are in Spain. Cooking facilities were very adequate with WiFi Aircon etc. The apartment was kept spotlessly clean during our three week stay and we would certainly return. I would also add the shops bars and restaurants are two minutes walk.
First of all I want to mention that the area of Roquetas de Mar is is a holiday place for Spain language speaking people and other languages are rarely spoken English is difficult to use. The hotel "Arena Center" is a good hotel if you are Spanish or Spanish speaking person and have a child or children between the age of 2-10 years old. Every activity or entertainment is in Spanish language end everything on the T.V. is in Spanish. The hotel it self is self is o.k. cleaning is good and the rooms are reasonably big (standard size), the pool is all right but noisy (loud music all day) and very loud entertainment for small Spanish children on til midnight (no sleeping be for midnight). I do not recommend this hotel for people who are not Spanish with children between 2 and 10.I had not the feeling that his is a four star hotel.…
Very pleased with hotel, except that the gym doesn't have air conditioning, which was not satisfactory. Lovely big pool area. Hotel has self catering and board basis. We stayed self catering and pleased with the space and facilities.
What a mixed bag and several surprises. Virtually every aspect had positives and negatives apart from two which were only negative. Chronologically.....first impressions from outside were good - looked very smart - and inside reception was also very smart and trim with lovely reception staff. BUT when we have booked online, given them credit card details, addresses, phone numbers etc does it take 20 minutes to fill in forms and go through procedures? It advertises it has car parking which is a must as street parking within 500 yards of the place is impossibly busy. BUT we were told that it was fully occupied and that maybe tomorrow there would be a space - fortunately we had grabbed a spot on the street and we eventually got a space after asking several times the next day - it only holds about 35 cars for a big hotel! And it cost 57 Euros for 6 days! The apartment was very spacious and generally well equipped BUT we had to ask for a kettle for the kitchen and report a broken balcony light, and whilst the bathroom was big and clean there was no shower gel on arrival, the toilet lid hinge was broken, and the over bath shower curtain was straight out of the 1960's - thin nylon which was intent on wrapping itself around you as you showered. It advertised Satellite TV - many channels in Spanish, German and French but only Sky News in English. The bar inside the hotel is very comfortable with not too bad prices - BUT the staff speak very little English (and this is not a criticism of them) so be prepared to use Spanish, except that in an International hotel you would expect at least basic bar English to be understood. The pool bar was ok BUT didn't open until nearly noon (erratic timings) and again little English). Entertainment on an evening was dire and was aimed solely at children going on until midnight-ish. Given that there were many adults in the hotel it would have been nice to see something other than a Disney Character show, a Wild West show, a Balloon Festival involving people passing balloons between their legs on stage, a Crazy Games night etc - this was absolutely the worst hotel entertainment we have experienced anywhere in the world over the last 40 odd years - unbelievable! And all the entertainment was only conducted using Spanish - no German,French, English etc. Breakfast was abysmal!!! Looked ok when we walked in to the large dining room but went quickly downhill - cooked bacon was cold, fried eggs were cold, grilled tomatoes were cold, no mushrooms, no potatoes, beans only on offer once, no butter available on first day only margarine, all breads were dry, toasters would not toast bread even after 3 passes but only dried it further, no cheese triangles (Laughing Cow is Spanish), sliced cheese rubbery and tasteless, no salt available first day etc etc. We didn't try lunch or dinner as we didn't want to waste our money. The pool was very well maintained and looked great BUT water was unheated and actually cold! (mid September) and the indoor pool was closed. Plenty of sun loungers and parasols. To sum up this hotel pitches itself purely at Spanish holidaymakers with over 90% of the guests whilst we were there being from Spain. At times it felt that we were intruders and were very much excluded - in fact the whole resort of Roquetas is geared exclusively for Spanish people - which is why we are surprised this is a Jet2 Holiday hotel - if you go here learn Spanish! We won't be back.…
just returned from a lovely stay at the arena center. nice 1 bed apartment with large balcony on 4th floor with a kitchenette - basic but very usable. apartment overlooked the large pool, which was very clean. there's a strict policy on leaving towels on sunbeds - if you leave the bed your towel will be removed. having said that, we went down to the pool around 10am each day, and there was no problem getting the bed of your choice. the hotel guests were about 99% spanish, which wasn't a problem for us (was informed by a local restaurant owner that the spanish kids get 14 weeks holiday during the summer which explains why). he recommended going in september if you want a brit crowd. went s/c but tried the breakfast for a few days - poor selection and hot food was cold - wondered why there were 2 microwaves in the restaurant! plenty of eateries on main thoroughfare - less than 5 mins from hotel. would recommend the hong kong (chinese), spice hut (indian) and oasis (italian). there's one english themed pub (lily's) which is close to these other venues.also plenty of tapas bars, if you like that sort of thing. lovely beach is 5mins from hotel - very clean and has toilets and cafes in abundance. nearest supermarket (a spar) is 2mins from hotel, where you can get practically anything.…
Where to even start, I’ll try summarise below: Positives: 1. Good games for kids around the pool during the day run by the staff, so possibly good if you have a family (we don’t) 2. Studio apartment is nice and spacious 3. Close to beach and restaurants Negatives: 1. Check-in somehow took 30 mins because the receptionist was unable to check on the system what room we were meant to be in and could not find a cleaner to see what room was clean 2. Wifi does not work in the room despite being advertised as such, and keeps dropping out by the pool 3. €3 a day charge to rent safety deposit box, despite booking with Booking.com saying it was included 4. It’s one of the noisiest places I have ever stayed. There is zero soundproofing in the rooms, we were woke up constantly by a family next door and from the room on floor above moving furniture. You can hear everything from everywhere 5. The pool is actually nice from afar but when you get in it’s just pumped with chlorine. Even with goggles on it’s blurry under water which is bad. 6. Id say half of the sun beds are wrecked and in need of replacing 7 the food....oh dear god it’s one of the worst buffet style foods I’ve ever had. I would usually avoid these where possible but we said we would give it a go for 1 day...Absolutely awful. If you choose full board good luck to you Dinner was over fried fatty food and stale bread. The food was that bad the only thing half decent was cheap Pizza and it was chaos every time a new tray of pizza came out. You’d need to settle for rice, chips and pizza everyday, the rest was brutal Breakfast...they couldn’t even get fried eggs done properly. A tray of 20+ fried eggs and everyone of them was charcoal black on the bottom. Stale pastries and some other inedible stuff 8. The beds = terrible. Poor quality mattress For the price we paid in August, this was no where near value for money. Would never stay here again…
We had a very relaxing time here. Plenty sunbeds during the week. Entertainments at weekend when the Spanish arrive Cleaning staff gave us washing up liquid Wifi good Strict policy on towels on sunbed. They were removed. Bring your own towel for pool - none for hire Reception staff excellent Girl in bar excellent Maintenance man fixed TV issue quickly Aircon not the best Tips Towels at Primark €5. Gran Plaza shopping centre short bus ride away. Go to national park and you may see Flamingos in the wild. Good bike rides along coast on dedicated cycleway. Bar Cullar out hotel back door for pints at €2. Swanky place with great staff yet cheap food and beer. This is not a resort for
Hotel itself is good, grounds is fine, pool area is nice. Definitely not 4 * hotel, room was horrible, sleeping quality poor. Wasn't necessary kitchen equipments like toaster, coffeemaker. WiFi in the room was useless. Reception staff was rude. We had late transfer and we did ask to stay for few hours in the room, but receptionist said we need pay 10 eh for each extra hour, nonsense believe hotel was almost empty only few people in the pool, or in restaurant....
