We were only informed on check-in that the hotel was closing the following day. Very few people about and therefore very little atmosphere. We ate out for dinner at a nice restaurant (review later) but at breakfast we were really disappointed. The Parador are known for their excellent breakfast but as it was now the day of closing the choice...

Sitting on a throne and overview the Portuguese border and the town of Ayamonte is a great feeling. As usual in a Parador, a large rotation of employees, but without feeling like a special guest, not as a room number. Maybe the menu card could be a little bit larger, but it was acceptable. At 3 km from the Portuguese...

The Parador of Ayamonte is very well placed over a hill facing the Guadiana River, along its last part, being the border between Spain and Portugal. The landscape is great, and you are less than an hour far from Faro, Tavira or Loule in El Algarve, or from the city of Huelva and most of the incredible beaches of the...

Located just a couple of minutes south of the Spanish / Portuguese main road, right on the border, overlooking the Guardiana River, this Parador is ideally situated for travellers berween the countries. And, given that the Donana National Park and very good beaches are only a few kilometres away, it is also good for longer stays. The standard of the...

This Parador has the most spectacular views - all the way round, both inwards to Spain and overlooking Portugal. However, they really need some expert help with staff training. Surely being in a Tourist business, you would expect that other languages need to be spoken apart from Spanish? No one greets you, they carry on talking to each other even...

The staff at the hotel is very helpful and the location is very pleasant. The breakfast, not included in the room rate, is excellent. But, the smelly and dusty room on the entrance floor needs some serious attention.

This Parador is situated to the north of Ayamonte on the road from the motorway into the town and overlooks both the town and the river across into Portugal. It is a modern Parador. We have stayed in a lot of Paradors over the years and you always know the standard you are going to get both bad and good....

A modern low rise Parador on the top of a hill overlooking the estuary and dramatic bridge over to Portugal. It has well kept garden and terrace pool near to the bar with the view which becomes even more stunning at sunset. As its a smaller Parador the breakfast choice is not as full as the larger ones but all...

Firstly let me start by saying I have visited this hotel many times, and always enjoy the views from the balcony and it's peaceful setting. However, my last visit was when I really started to notice how standards are slipping. The rooms are slowly becoming dated, and could use a revamp. Further to this an issue with the wiring meant...

We stayed for two nights at the hotel and were impressed with both its location in an elevated position above the town and the spaciousness of the room as well as the hotel itself. The service was efficient if a little impersonal and there is ample free parking. The highlights for us were the spectacular views of Ayamonte and across...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A priviledge viewpoint, the Parador overlooks the marshy landscape sketched by the course of the Guadiana and the Atlantic coast. Modernity can be found in the drawing rooms and living rooms, blessedly lit by the sun of Ayamonte and simplicity of the shades, with peaceful sensitivity. ... more   less
