Hotel Convent, the former Benedictine monastery, is an outstanding cultural monument with quite a history. Some of the advantages of the hotel are its quiet location, the nearness of the sea, its green surroundings, a varied and high-quality offer of services and a parking lot adjacent to the hotel. Hotel offers all the comforts of a 4-star hotel with 23 rooms and a luxuriously decorated suite. The rooms are furnished in classical style and have all the standard facilities. The rooms have a view of the park or of the atrium with a fountain built in 1835, which almost invites you to relax in its shadow and let your imagination run free through the spirit of ancient times.

Detailed Reviews
My wife & I stayed here on route to Croatia, not by choice, it was late night & other hotels were full. When we arrived at the address using the sat nav, we were surprised to find the hotel located on a camp site. We were told all rooms were full but we would be staying in a 'villa' in the hotel grounds, for 'villa' read 'bog standard apartment' - that's exactly what it was, but for 126.50 euro. This was a rip off. Breakfast the following morning, which was totally self service, was also very average. The main hotel looks quite nice in daylight, unlike the 'villa' we experienced.

Alltogether nice place to stay, bit pricey but ... ;)
+ Nice house, spacious, well equiped, beachfront, quiet, free parking, pets allowed, good chice for breakfast, vegan choice, nice walks possible in vicinity of the resort
- pricey, extra charge for pet, parking not close to house

Nice building, nice surrounding. Great beach with children playground. Hotel itself could be better. Rooms are solid and clean, service soild without 4* approach. About food: we had breakfaqst and lunch and I must say it was great!
Coming back? Yes, but not for the price we payed this time.
We travelled: grandma with 3-year odl grandson.

As we neared the Hotel we were baffled of its location which resembles on a trailor camp with Boules structure for elders with resemblence of a nursing home. In the hotel we we're suprised that there was no elevator which becomes a big problem for some people with issues of carrying luggage but ofcourse as we were expecting there was nobody qualified either to take our stuff upstairs into the first floor. After we took luggage ourselves trough the hall we came to the room. We were really expecting bigger room compared to the rooms trough Istra and nearby cities and it was nothing like it, they were small with no space to move with 1 person in nontheless with 2 people. There was also no balcony and bed was making crumbly noises and after sitting on it I actually felt in. It was also extremely cold at night, I managed to sleep 3 hours after heating myself by the radiator in the bathroom which was also the only one. The only thing positive room wise was cleanliness and overall quiet. One would expect to have at least a pool to jump in after a morning routine or a savna in the hotel but one should figure; the hotel and the facility were seperate 300 m away and someone would have to put on a skiing equipment in the winter season going forth and back to have a bloody swim. Food: was very modest and one sided with no choice for other foodies like vegeterians etc. You'd had to eat what you got and in my case I actually had a ''jogurt'' day. Trying to relax on the coast there were bad fumes coming from everywhere and overall it was a filthy coast. With all said it's definitely not a classic 4 star hotel rather a 2* motel - hostel at best with a place to crash and dissapearing next day.In case of having another experience in Ankaran I would not return there in a million years.

In this hotel the staff is very unpolite and rude. Impossible to order coffe in a crowded caffe. The food is average, so are the rooms. The prices are too high for what this hotel offer. The beach is ugly and it stinks. In non season time everithing is closed.

This hotel is a refurbished 1000 yrs-old benedictine monastery, situated within hundreds of yards of a coast lined by pine trees. We liked it a lot - spacious rooms, sparseness of the decor, friendliness -even chumminess - of waiters and the reception team. WiFi and ethernet in every room. I did miss an extra (small) table in the room where I could do some work (on the laptop). We had great walks on the coast and the sunny hills above, where we tasted wine and olive oil with local farmers.
The kids liked bowling + swimming pool/sauna. We benefitted from visiting out of season - i can see that the hotel might be less enjoyable in the summer, surrounded by hordes of RVs and campers.
In a nutshell, probably one of the best places to visit when one is in the area.

Room Tip: I suggest Rm 121 - corner suite, larger with a view on 2 side including sea. Nice for sunsets.

It's a long time since I got overbooked. But it never happened the hotel staff didn't apologize for it. Until now. The receptionist called after breakfast that we must leave our room immediately since they have a group coming. And that we should understand that the group booked the hotel months before us. Normally I would leave and never come back, but the hotels in the whole area were completely booked and we couldn't get a room anywhere else. I protested so they called the manager and got us a room in the nearby facility which I didn't like very much. The hotel itself is otherwise very beautiful and nicely furnished in romantic oldfashioned style, the food is decent, the rooms are clean, but half of the staff shows very clearly they would love to be somewhere else. Don't go in the summer season because it's overcrowded, but maybe it would be nice to try again in spring or autumn.

Hotel located close to the border with Italy, in a very nice area, close to the sea. Next to the hotel there is a spa center which might worth a visit. Hotel room is large, bathroom well equipped. There a TV with a lot of channels and a minibar in the room. Breakfast is abundant! I might come back for vacation as there are bungalows next to the hotel, which have interesting prices :)

The booked "king size bed" room was't king size. Two beds sticked to each other, with 20cm break in between. Just terrible experience.
Main building is seems to be an old monastery adapter for hotel - it has nice atmosphere. However, you need to pass multiple stairs with suitcase.

I've been all over Slovenia organising congresses however haven't had the opporrunity to be in such a special, genuine spot! Worth trying. Central garden is extraordinary, you can not find such a place for a coffee break anywhere else. Would highly recommend!
