After a stressful drive from Bologna we arrived at Agriturismo Vernianello rather worn out. It was however the perfect setting to relax and unwind. Ilena was extremely accommodating and made us feel at home straight away. Ilena speaks perfect English and communication before and during our stay was excellent. All my questions were answered and we did not have any issues during our stay. The apartment ( Istrice) was spacious and clean with two large bedrooms rooms and two large bathrooms. Each apartment has its own designated outdoor space looking out onto the rolling Tuscan hills. It really is a picture perfect postcard perfect view. The apartment was well equipped with all the necessary tools for cooking. It was shame they were not operating the restaurant as the menu looked delicious. Our son absolutely loved the kids playground and they have equipment suitable for children of all ages. The playground itself is set away from the pool in a shaded area. With this being the case, guests can relax by the pool without any potential noise from kids in the playground! The pool, like the outdoor seating area, is set amongst a backdrop of beautiful Tuscan hills. It is a stunning scene. The water did not seem to be heated but in the heat of August this was a welcome relief. Our son loved the pool and we couldn’t get him out of it. Given our problems driving from Bologna we did not want to drive far for any sightseeing. We therefore stayed local. We found many beautiful walks among the vineyards and olive groves straight from the doorstep. The nearest town of Poggibonsi is a 10 min drive away. It has several largish supermarkets ( Lidil, Coop) as well as numerous restaurants. You can pick up anything and everything you need there. It is not a town for sightseeing ( there is nothing to see) however if you are willing to drive a bit further then Siena and San San Gimignano are both 45 mins to an hour’s drive away. Given the current coronavirus situation we felt totally relaxed and safe at Agriturismo Vernianello. With the vast amounts of space, social distancing was never a problem and in fact there were very few guests staying. The apartments were spotlessly clean and hand sanitizer was available in the outside areas near the pool and the playground. In the midst of the Covid chaos this was the perfect place to switch off, unwind and forget about the crazy world around us. At least for a few days before we had to leave and return to normality! I would definitely love to return to Agriturismo Vernianello and highly recommend it for families or couples looking for a relaxing break.

We just returned from a week at Agriturismo Vernianello, in August of 2020. The scenery is magnificent, the pool inviting, and the apartments are large and comfortable. Our children 6 and 10 both said thta they enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, swimming in the pool, playing in the playground and playing with all of the toys and games. The location is ideally positioned between Florence and Siena, and very near to San Gimignano and Monteriggione. The nearby town of Poggibonsi offers easy access to restock up on all of your neccesities. Overall, Agriturismo Vernianello is a great place to base a Tuscan vacation, to explore the nearby famous towns, or to just sit back and relax.

We stayed for 6 nights in August (2 adults 2 children 13 & 10). We had the Volpe apartment which was two double rooms each with en suite. The setting is beautiful, so peaceful with amazing views. The children loved playing in the pool everyday and when not in the pool there was chess, table tennis, and lots of other activities for them. If they had their way we wouldn’t have left the place! It is in a good location for visiting the area though, and we did manage a trip to Siena, Volterra and san gimignano during our stay which were all worth a visit. I highly recommend this place for families. It’s very relaxed, plenty of outdoor space, each apartment also has its own private seating area for food and section around the pool. The pool is shared between the other apartments (4 in total I think) but we had it to ourselves much of the time. Poggibonsi is the nearest town which although isn’t far in distance takes about 10 mins drive because of the windy roads. There are supermarkets, gelateria’s, restaurants in the town and also a weekly market which we visited.

You have a lot of options when you start looking for agriturismos in Tuscany. I found this one on a list of family-friendly sites and, sure enough, it was perfect. The apartment was spacious and well-maintained. The property was gorgeous and included both private outdoor spaces for each apartment as well as common areas like the pool, playground, and a shady seating area to admire the views of the countryside. We did not have time to avail ourselves of the hammocks, but Ilenia was kind to prepare a delicious and traditional Tuscan dinner one of the two nights we were there. A highlight of the time was the moment that I could smell wood on the fire to grill our rabbit and pork chop-- heavenly, as I sat with a book and a glass of wine that had been made right on the farm. You'll appreciate their responsiveness, hospitality, and the proximity to San Gimignano, Siena, and Castellina in Chianti.

Words cannot express how great this trip was! The hosts, Ilenia and Fabio were the absolute best. The villa is far enough away to feel you've escaped into the Tuscan countryside but close enough to still be able to shop and sightsee. The property is all we pictured and more. Vines and olive trees everywhere. Milo and Teo (dogs) were also great hosts and always down for a quick pet (or lick!). Laundry available for €10 and she literally does it for you. We helped hang it on the line. Small price to pay, honestly. Her husband let us try all of their offerings, including 4 reds of different years and 2 sherries. Their wines can only be purchased on site and you really don't need any others. Dinner and breakfast can be ordered with 2 days notice. I HIGHLY recommend at least one meal on-site. The antipasto was delightful. The chickpea soup was divine. Fabulous home cooked rabbit and creamy potatoes. Tiramisu and the best caramel panna cotta I've ever tasted to top it off. It was the quintessential Tuscan experience! Highly recommend pairing with one of their wines. It was literally the meal and experience we dreamed of when planning this trip! Ilenia is a superb chef and I promise you will be happy you chose her dinner. My only advice, please plan for more than 4 days. We wished we could spend a month here!
