We headed to Podere Il Casale to take a tour of their cheesemaking and to have lunch. We ended up just having lunch under an arbor enjoying the beautiful afternoon, fabulous food and the view of Valley d'Orica. We started with the cheese tray, then had salad ( one is enough for 2-3 people.) Then we had a pasta, pork... More

After a drive of not knowing where we were going, we arrived on the farm. Nice outside restaurant with awesome view! The staff are very friendly when presenting their freshly prepared food. Specials for the day are written on a black board. From the local cheese platter, Pici, roasted lamb (brilliant!), lamb meatballs to the apple cake and local wines... More

Although they claim they have campsite, what thay offer is just pitch and electricity. Nothing else is suitable for camping. They have animals. Okay, I knew that, it's a farm. But they also have 3 large dogs who where barking at every moving thing or person. And they are not on the leash, so it's not quite pleasant feeling. They... More

Lovely small cheese producing farm with excellent farm to table cafe. Home made wine, cheese, bolognese sauce etc were served after a quick but thorough tour of the cheese making process and the farm . Gracious witty host. Powdered il casale, 53026 Pienza email. We visited for lunch twice. The restaurant at Podere Il Casale is one of our favorite “finds” from our stay in Tuscany. We ate at many places in the area, but the food, ambiance, and friendliness of the people at Il Casale was wonderful. It is owned by a Swiss couple who have run it for many years now. All... More

Been here for lunch with my family. I had a chestnut pasta with vegetables and the rest of the family has pasta too. I learnt that the pasta is made from crop grown in the farm, just like the most part of the other dishes, including wine. All is organic and the quality is very high. The panorama is beautiful... In stark contrast to visit to nearby winery which was newly renovated, large scale, even corporate, Podere II Casale would never be described as slick. Homey, dog and peacocks roaming about, one wouldn't describe areas beyond main building as manicured - its a real farm. Wonderful dinner and cheese sampling, gorgeous hilltop location, but what sets it apart is welcoming,... More

When I came to write the review I was SHOCKED that it was ranked so low based on our experience.Keep in mind we did not stay here we just came for the tour and lunch. Sandra our host was full of energy as she proudly showed us around her farm. Sandra and her husband (the cheese maker) run the farm.... More

We had a tour here with our group (two teenage girls, three grandmothers and my husband and me) with the owner. He was very informative and passionate about his work. We learned about his sheep, the cheese making process, some farm operations and more. I can't imagine a more beautiful location...then you add the tasting at the end and it... More

As we planned our Adventures through Tuscany with our daughters ages 8 and 11 our goal was to be able to enjoy cheese and wine tasting on an environment our forms would enjoy. This farm was a highlight for them. They enjoyed the beauty of the location as we as Sampling the cheeses but they really loved visiting the animals... More
