We had an unforgettable stay at this agriturismo. Due to a travel glitch, we needed help getting from Pienza to the farm. Alessandro came to the rescue. Fabrizio provided a ride and a personalized tour. What a bonus! The setting is idyllic, the staff warm, professional and attentive. The breakfasts were delicious. The evening meals were lively and beautiful. I... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights on our honeymoon. Once we got there we never wanted to leave. What sets this place apart (besides the spectacular views, the truly relaxing space, and the comfortable rooms) is the people. Alessandro Capitoni and his staff are super generous, warm, and funny. Good people all the way through. I'm not... More

Our experience at Podere Spedalone was one of the best in Europe, if not the world. The location is deep in the heartland of Unesco protected Tuscany, which means very limited, beautiful historical architecture and rolling hills. The building itself was an incredible structure that was originally built to house pilgrims on the trail from France to Italy. You can... More

We spent 3 weeks in Italy and this was our last stop. We spent two nights here and were treated like family. Alessandro and his staff are hospitable, generous and so welcoming the moment you arrive. They are high energy and know how to have a good time. We dined with 30 other people on site and it was an... More

We enjoyed two very special evenings here. Almost as good as the food and the setting overlooking the Tuscan hills, was the company of the other guests - that was completely different but still very special each night. Arrive around 8 pm for appetizers and drinks, dinner follows - a creative pasta dish, a second course and then a fruit... More

What can I say. As we are on route back to New York, I will never forget my stay at Podere Spedalone. Podere Spedalone was an amazing, and MUST Tuscan experience. The hope, energy, love, and passion that Allesandro and Fabrizio put into this amazing place, truly made our experience a once-in-a-lifetime memory. After having lunch for business in some... More

I found Spedalone here on TA. My husband and I spent three nights there and it was the highlight of our trip to Italy. The hosts Alessandro and Vincenzo were exceptional in terms of hospitality; they greeted us like we were long-time favored regulars and not first timers. I stress "exceptional." The food was so fresh, delicious and simple. The... More

We arrived for dinner, a little bit later than we were asked to be, but we were still able to admire what Alessandro (the owner) calls the movie: a magic and touching sunset, seated on a long simple common table under a patio of reeds, a charming light giving the final touch to that enchantment. There is no menu: you... More

At rare occasions in life, one encounters situations in which place, people, environment, colours, flavors, tastes, ... fit in magically and make up for a Special setting. The setting and team at Spedalone allow for such magical coming-together to happen, difficult to describe hence better not to try describing. It just happens. Fabrizio, Alessandro, Massimo, Gianni and the full team... More

We are a family of 5, with 3 teenage kids and a border collie. We loved the hospitality of Alessandro, Fabrizio and Massimo and the excellent cooking of Gianni who taught us to prepare gluten free pasta. The whole staff was so kind and really went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. Even our dog was happy to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Podere Spedalone dates back to the 8th century, when it was a place of shelter for pilgrims bound for Rome, situated as it is on the Via Francigena, or Frankish Route. It nestles, perfectly at ease, among the Crete Senesi and, after strictly conservational restoration, begun in 2004 and completed in 2006, it is now the ideal spot for anyone wishing to refresh spirit, senses, mind and body. ... more   less
