The place is indeed really family friendly and keep in mind that 90% of the tourists at the agriturismo are indeed families. It can be quite noisy at the pool area. The place and landscape is really lovely, but the farm could be maintained a little better. Every piece of equipment of the various playgrounds is a little broken, and lamps are not working here and there. The restaurant is good and offers different daily meals. The view from the restaurant is amazing! Breakfast and coffee is also quite good. I recommend the pizza baking evening. That was a blast. The rooms, or at least our apartment was as expected. We missed it that it doesn’t offer AC, so you might have an eye on it. We got offered a different apartment from our great host, but refused as it has already gotten a little colder. Also being an old farmhouse expect the rooms to be quite noisy. You can hear toilets or coughing neighbors. Also the apartments were completely without necessities. No salt, no oil, no shampoo, no nothing. First thing you need to do is drive to a coop. All in all great vacation for kids.

Very nice welcome. Excellent breakfast. Nice activities for children. Nice swimming pool. Good cooking for dinner. Good situation for visiting Tuscany near Firenze and San Gimignano. Only drawback: mosquitoes and warmness in the big house !

We stayed in the 3 bedroom La Legnaia apartment. It had a basic small kitchen / diner / living room, 2 bathrooms (1 upstairs and 1 )downstairs. 2 bedrooms upstairs (1 twin, 1 dbl) and 1 dbl downstairs. Wifi available through all apartments though signal was better either upstairs or outside rather than in the downstairs area. Also got signal by the pool which was handy. The apartment also had outdoor seating- deckchairs as well as patio furniture (metal chairs & table) and a parasol. The area out front was sectioned between rosemary bushes & and lavender which provided some shade in the afternoon but also fragrance and a place to spot little lizards, bees, butterflies and even the spectacular Italian 'hummingbird' hawk moth which we were privileged to see a few times both during the day and in the evenings. During the morning it's mostly in shade which, when the weather was as warm as it had been the last 2 weeks we were there meant it was nice to sit out for breakfast and a coffee before either heading out or down to the pool. By lunchtime the amount of shade here is limited and the parasol would need to be employed! Inside unfortunately there was no air conditioning, though fans are provided in each bedroom and 2 of the bedrooms also had ceiling mounted fans.Even so, with the high temperatures we were lucky to experience it meant a few sticky nights sleep. All the windows are screened so insects shouldn't make it in (but everyone seemed to suffer with insect bites at some point through the fortnight! Waking up with fresh bites most mornings!) The pool is where we spent a lot of our time. Nice size and didn't ever get that busy. Has a shallow area at one end around 50cm deep. There's then a step to where it goes to around 75 cm for the width of the pool. The deepest part is 1m70 but handily has a shallower bit that runs right around the circumference (75cm) with a slope on all sides towards the centre. Open 8am to 8pm though no lifeguards and not really anyone to tell you not to use it outside of those times. However I would imagine the chemicals are dosed during the 8pm-8am time so prob best to adhere to those times! The restaurant is reached either by the dirt road that you drove in by or by a grassy/gravel path that runs between the pool and one of the newer apartments. Along the way there are swings, slides a small football pitch and a trampoline. The restaurant is rustic but Anna and her team serve up some very tasty food. Whilst the menu may not be extensive it is all local produce and very well presented. The special pizza making night is brilliant fun and I can safely say we made some of the tastiest pizza I've ever tasted, and so quickly too! The only surprise is that pizza is not on the standard menu, it's only available on the pizza special night. When we were there it was on Thu nights contrary to what is posted on the website. Wandering around the grounds, seeing the animals was great fun for both the adults and the kids... Though my youngest was not best pleased with getting chased by a belligerent group of geese. Saved by the friendly dog (poldo I think?) who came to the rescue and bravely sent them scarpering! The tree house was a good place to see the sunset which we did on the 1st night. Great views of the surrounding countryside as you will see from the website. Sadly any pictures we took do not do the scenery and countryside justice. Such a magical place and we have left with so many fond memories of an absolutely perfect holiday where we saw some amazing places, ate some excellent food, drank too much Vino and Birra and met some lovely families. The staff running Montalbino were so friendly and helpful it really helped make for such a relaxing atmosphere. Some tips /useful info - The washing machines (2 of them in the laundry block) take a token which you get from the restaurant for €4. This includes detergent which is automatically dosed so no need to bring or buy your own detergent. - bikes are supplied but not sure about Helmets so if concerned then bring your own. - all apartments contain table tennis bats and balls plus there's a big glass jar in the reception hut with a load of balls in so no need to bring your own - watch out for the path running in between the apartment block, it is a bit uneven (rustic?) and in the dark or when you first get there and you are busy taking in all the wonderful surroundings it's quite easy to turn your ankle or trip. - when you first arrive the reception is at the restaurant! - pick up some insect repellent from the supermarket on your way in, we got some like fragrance sticks that we put on the side, out of reach of the kids. Did a good job of keeping flies outside of the indoor areas. Thank you Anna & Team for a wonderful holiday! CiaoCiao

Room Tip: In the midst of summer probably good to look for one of the units that has air conditioning.

We were here for one week at la Casina, a private and cosy single space house. That was right fine for two adults and a kid. Beautiful view from the patium and quiet, actually nice that is was a bit away from the other buildings. The agriturismo has everything you need. A really good swimming pool with plenty of inflatable toys for kids and enough sunbeds around. The playground is also good. They offer very nice activities for families. We tried riding on donkeys for kids, visiting the garden to learn about animals and plants, and a short but really nice make your own pizza event. The restaurant is truly amazing, quality of food is high (I'm actually Italian), staff is super friendly, and the view will make you take more than one picture. Also from the tree house nearby. The owner, Anna, has been really helpful and kind throughout the whole stay. Reaching the place takes a drive on curvy streets on the hills, but nothing too bad. It's also a good spot to visit other cities in Toscana. Highly recommended! Lorenzo and Sofie

Wonderful location with beautiful views over the soft tuscan hills and countryside. Genuine agriturismo with a judicious, holistic approach to farming, cooking and cultural heritage. We stayed in "Casina", which is an individual house with beautiful views on all sides of the house - and equipped with a kitchen. You can cook yourself or dine (/ have breakfast) in the nice restaurant, which offers very local food. There were good acitivities for the kids, and the nearby animals were an attraction for them and for us. Once you are there, stop by the old reception-house in order to find brochures and tourist guides.
