Nestled in woodland consisting of ancient trees and flowers, and overlooking the splendid Gulf of Naples, this hotel effortlessly blends tradition with modern amenities and services. Although the hotel is detached from the noise and chaos of Sorrento,it is within 10 minutes walk of the charming village of Sant’Agata sui due Golfi, which can be accessed via the hotel’s private path. Sorrento can also be reached on the shuttle bus service, which runs from May to October and stops in front of the hotel.Spend long days relaxing by the outdoor pool for adults and the smaller pool for children, or sipping drinks on the terrace overlooking the unique scenery of the Gulf.Discounts may apply for longer stays.Newly renovated, these rooms are furnished with a lovely terracotta tile floor and antique-style wood furniture, giving a sense of an ancient farmhouse villa. These rooms also have a wonderful view over the Gulf of Naples. All rooms are with individual air-conditioning and Wi-fi connection

As you can imagine a beautiful area, the hotel is on a hill overlooking Sorrento town, is quite old with some rooms done with an antique style we had antique furniture and lovely tiling and a balcony with a fantastic view. We had read that there wasn’t tea/coffee making facilities or hair drier, but there was a good hair drier, kettle coffee, sugar and tea sachets but you get the milk from the restaurant. It has a very nice double pool with an outside eating area and bar. The staff were very good helpful and friendly, you could walk off road to the town, but there is a free shuttle bus. There is a nice little village Sant’ Agata just a small walk up a pathway for shopping bars and restaurants.

Stayed at this hotel from 19/9 - 26/9 for mine my husbands honeymoon. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our room, room very clean, spacious and facilities were excellent. As we were on the 5th floor the view is absolutely beautiful, photos won’t do it justice!!! We went half board for our holiday, at breakfast there was quite a lot of different choices to eat and drink and it was very nice. The evening meal there were 3 different options for starter, main and dessert. Which were all very nice. The staff throughout our week there were very pleasant and helpful. We Will definitely be returning in the future. The shuttle bus that goes into Sorrento town made our lives slot easier as well. It was a very steep walk down there and a steep walk back!!

Second visit and for 10 days. Cooler weather but still lots of sunshine. Temperature much colder in the evenings so warmer clothes needed. We had two rooms room 518, overlooking the driveway and had sunshine and 513 overlooking the sea. Paying extra for a seaview is worth it. Both were clean and traditional Italian hotel rooms. Staff excellent. Most meals lovely and breakfast has an adequate choice to start your day. Pool was freezing, but still swam on warmer days. Reception will advise on trips and organised a wonderful lemon farm visit in a neighbouring village. The Dottotrain also takes you some awesome viewing points too. All in all a great break.

So the views at this hotel are absolutely stunning, the staff are wonderful and helpful but unfortunately the rooms, food and communal areas let it down. Breakfast was terrible and didn’t change all week. The evening meals were very disappointing, presentation was good but it was style over substance so we only ate here twice in a entire week despite paying for half board. Vegetable pasta was bland and the sword fish was over cooked. Rolled turkey was cold and dry. The hotel is very tired and needs painting and furniture updating. Beds were very hard even with a topper and the blankets were sooo old. Quite remote but the shuttle bus was useful it just needs to run all day and later at night. A shame as it has a lot of potential. Some music around the pool (soft quiet music) may be a nice touch to add some atmosphere.

Response from HOTEL HERMITAGE, Proprietario at Grand Hotel Hermitage & Villa Romita
Responded 6 days ago
Dear Mrs Dyer and Chatteron , We sincerely apologize that our service was not satisfactory for you. We aim to provide the most excellent customer service and carry our business with high standards. It is of deep concern that our standards were not met in your customer experience. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we will ensure this does not happen again. Unfortunately this was not mentioned to us during your stay. Our continental breakfast offers a wide range of products, homemade cakes, cold cuts, seasonal fruit cheeses, yogurt, cereals and gluten free products, eggs and bacon. it is the customer's choice to always consume the same products or to vary. When it comes to the quality of the dinner, tastes are sometimes subjective. Ours is an Italian cuisine. We offer traditional dishes and international choices trying to satisfy all palates. Kind Regards

The hotel and staff are amazing!! I have travelled a lot; however, this hotel is my favorite place. The staff just could not be more helpful. The hotel is clean, romantic and beautiful. If you have a chance please stay in the annex. The view from the terrace is something unbelievable. Also, in annex you will feel more like in a private villa than hotel. I suggest to everyone to stay there!!!

Just on the last day of a week at the hotel hermitage.we have both had a wonderful time here, the staff are without doubt the friendliest we have ever come across & always go out of their way to ensure you have a good time.we stayed in room 513 which is spacious & has fantastic sea views. I would recommend the half board option as meals are quite expensive in Sorrento, you have good options for dinner, the breakfast was of good quality was the same everyday.I would certainly recommend this hotel.

A great stay in the hotel with an authentic feel of Italy. The hotel and restaurant staff were great and made you feel welcome. We had a spacious room with all the amenities we needed. The restaurant was lovely with a good choice for continental breakfast. The evening meal had varied choices and excellent food with great service. The hotel has great views including during the day around the pool and on the hotel bar terrace during the evening. The shuttle bus was a good service that was only a short ride into Sorrento. We booked our stay with TUI where we had a lovely rep that visited the hotel regularly throughout our stay and did a great free tour of Sorrento which was advertised in the hotel lobby along with other excusions available.

I stayed here with my family for two weeks this September. I had a lovely holiday in part due to the actions of the hotel staff and the atmosphere of the hotel. The rooms are charming and are equipped with extras like a little refrigerator, a hairdryer, extra blankets, a kettle and a variety of tea bags. These are a lovely touch. The cleaner comes everyday and does a brilliant job. She is also very friendly and accomodating- When I said I'd rather her not clean my room for that day because I was working on a university assignment, she simply replaced my towels with clean ones and returned the next day to clean instead. Being someone with an intolerance to lactose, usually this can be difficult to communicate at restaurants or cafés and I'm given vegan food. At Hotel Hermitage however, the chefs and waiters could not be more accommodating. The food is delicious and for most of the options on the menu they were able to just deduct the dairy element and maintain the core of the dish. Sometimes they had to change the core of the dish but this never made the meal any less delicious. Each meal I had was so very tasty. The restaurant staff, especially Carmine, were very proffessional, friendly and would often come to the table to ask if everything was well with our meal. I would come down to breakfast to a plate of 'free from' goodies to replace the dairy filled muffins and croissants included as part of the main breakfast experience. This was a very nice touch by Carmine and the rest of the restaurant staff. I would give this hotel 5 stars and reccomend it to anyone wanting to visit southern Italy. The atmosphere is friendly and cosy. While there are musicians and events, this is an ideal hotel for anyone wishing to come back to a nice quiet hotel after a long day out. There is a nice sized lounge area where you can sit and relax, play boardgames, watch the television or drink and enjoy food from the bar.

Me and my wife stayed here with our parents to celebrate her 30th in beautiful Italy. As a whole we enjoyed our time here and felt obliged to leave a review. I will start with the positives. The staff are impeccably professional. From being greeted to the end we have no complaints there at all. Special mentions the hotel manager is very hands on and approachable. He gave my wife a bottle of champagne to congratulate her 30th. His daughter Gloria is fantastic and any trips you want to book you should speak to her she know everything you need to know. We booked pompeii with wine tasting. Almafi and positano by boat and capri by boat. The trips through the hotel were cheaper than what we could find online. All trips the hotel put on transfers from hotel. The staff in the restaurant are so good at what they do especially the older 2 gentleman. They organise a birthday cake for the wife. The hotel cleanliness is exceptional and this is despite it being rustic. Last but not least the bar and its staff. Drinks here are reasonable and they have a large array of options and they even do nice cocktails. Roberta is your lady here working tirelessly to make sure your drinks are made with speed. This brings me onto Toni. This man is the heart and sole of the hotel. He is the waiter/barman who gets your drinks to you. Not only that he was the one who greeted us with a friendly smile and took our bags to the room. He's by the pool clearing up around the pool. Part of the night he's in the restaurant . He's everywhere. This man makes it his mission to ensure you are having a laugh.you can see he really cares about the customers. We bumped into him on his day off in sorrento he stopped to talk us. Areas for improvement Rooms. Ours was very small. We had to ask reception to turn the ac on from reception apparently this is hotel policy. Food is nice. It is limited at times. More variety could be served at breakfast. Less pastries Bar area had no music on the only time it did was when they had a performer on but that was 1 out of 7 days. The other reviews said hotel is dated I would agree with this but bear in mind the value of what you pay to stay here. I've been all over Italy and majority of hotels are rustic. If you want modern you will end up paying 2k a week pp. Tips to offer you you try and get a room in main hotel with a sea view. Take mosquito repellent there was an abundance of them. Don't be afraid to ask for things the hotel staff have a can do attitude to make your stay more satisfying

We stayed in the Villa Romita, really Italian style. We have a superior sea view room with big balcony. Breakfast very good. Tranquility and total relaxation. The magnificent views of Vesuvius and Napoli. Staff very friendly and professional. Frequent shuttle bus to Sorrento. 10 minute walk into the St Agata village. Gugliermo and Gloria have organized all our excursions and have helped us to plan our holiday. We had a wonderful holiday. Highly recommended!
