If you're looking for a place to stay that is very reasonably priced, comfortable modern surroundings and away from the hustle and crowds of Southern Italy's holiday towns, then La Civetta is the place for you! Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights on a recent motorbike holiday in Southern Italy and it was a welcome relief to...

When most people look to book a week away, finding somewhere that offers a degree of escapism is usually an important factor. Although we're blessed with choices, there can be few places within only a few hours of travel from London that offer such escapism in 'world's away' abundance as Cilento, in the southern part of Italy's Campania. Framed by...

A little difficult to find (I'll give helpful directions later) but worth all the effort, La Civetta (The "Owl") is a small, family-run hotel & restaurant about 3kms outside Agropoli in a location which gives superb views down over Agropoli and out to sea. Emiliano was the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble. We were the only guests as...

We had a late night arrival with much difficulty finding the location. However when we finally arrived our very charming hostess showed us to our room and offered to make us dinner. We had a lovely late night 3 course dinner and a bottle of wine. The room was very clean and comfortable and we woke to the most spectacular...

My husband and I stayed here in June 2012 and stayed regrettably only one night. Had we known the area was so beautiful we would have stayed long enough to explore the attractions nearby. The room was most comfortable, the breakfast was fantastic and Marco, the host, made us feel very welcome. We had a car but had difficulty finding...

I would have rated this B&B as a perfect 5 if not for two factors: 1.) we were not told that we were the ONLY guest in the hotel (we didnt realize this was still off season), and therefore the restaurant on site was not open. 2.) You really need to have a car while you were here. We were...

We stayed for one night in March in the "Capri" room, which had a little balcony with a view over the hills. The room had free wifi, a large old fashioned cabinet for a closet with an eclectic collection of hangers, a rather cluttered desk area, small table and two chairs. There was very little lighting to the point where...

After getting lost, we arrived to a dark, bed and breakfast that appeared to be closed (we were staying in Agropoli during the OFF-season and many of the hotels/bed & breakfasts are closed) and it seemed as though they didn’t realize any guests were expected to arrive that night. BUT, as soon as they greeted us, they quickly set us...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Civetta” looks down on Agropoli, the Gulf of Salerno, the Amalfi Coast and up to the island of Capri from its hillside location. Great Italian philosopher, Gian Battista Vico once meditated here among the brilliant colours of the sea and the Lattari Mountains, with his nose turned to the sky and his hair immersed in the blue sea.We are situated 4km far from Agropoli city center, 10km south of Paestum on the route to the ancient city of Velia and the seaside town of Palinuro. Not far away is Tresino (ancient Trezenia) and Licosa Point (ancient Leucosia). The path today still tells the great story of the ancient Greeks that visited our shores centuries ago. ... more   less

“All the rooms are identified by name and we had the Capri. However, since the walls are so thin, we would not recommend staying here in season, no matter what the room. Off season, we were okay. This is a 3-star by most European standards.”
