2nd time back at the wonderful Hotel Korina - like us there were lots of return guests which reflects the warm welcome everyone receives from Sofia, Dimitri & family. The hotel is in a great location with views of the mountains and surrounding olive groves but only 10 mins walk on a quiet road down to the beach and tavernas. The rooms and beds are really comfortable with daily maid service, the pool is big with plenty of sun beds and there is a great pool bar that serves food during the day/early evening. We had a great time, met some lovely fellow guests once again and are already planning our return trip.
My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Korina for 10 nights, returning home yesterday. From the minute we checked in until we checked out yesterday we loved every minute at the hotel. We would totally recommend to anyone who is considering visiting to visit as you will not regret booking this lovely hotel. The hotel is owned and run by Dimitris and Sofia with help from their lovely family and staff who all made us feel very welcome, from the moment we checked in until we left for home. We were made to feel like friends, which was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We were given lots of useful information about places to visit during our holiday from Sofia, Dimitris and the many returning guests, many who have visited numerous times, which demonstrates how great the hotel is. Rooms We were very pleased with our room which we paid to upgrade, an amazingly comfortable bed. The room was very clean, with fresh towels every 2-3 days. There is no lift at the hotel so if you have mobility issues it might be worth requesting a ground floor room. Food/Drink The breakfast was very good with many different choices, both hot and cold, all replenished frequently. We ate in the hotel at lunchtime and what ever we ordered was delicious. There was a very good selection of spirits which were poured generously from the Olive Tree Bar every night by Dimitris, they even had pink gin, so this was a big vote winner from me. My husband enjoyed the beer which was served in ice cold glasses, very welcome after a hard day in the sun! We loved the evenings at the bar as there was always a friendly welcome from Dimitris and Sofia, plus we met lots of lovely people there for a chat- Pauline and Alan, Pat and Mike, John and Liz, the Manchester Ladies, and the many other people we chatted to, thank you for your company. We ate dinner in the many different Tavernas along the beachfront, all within a 10-15 minute walk, Krambousa, Green Sea and Korali were our favourites. Beach/Pool The pool area is lovely, very clean, with sun beds which were not reserved at silly o’clock, there were plenty of sun beds at anytime of the day. The pool is a good size for swimming with a shallow end for children. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away and worth visiting. You don’t have to pay for the use of the beds/umbrellas as long as you buy a drink from the Taverna where the beds are situated, You can also use the toilet facilities. The beach is sandy with lovely warm water. Excursions We hired a jeep for 2 days, arranged by the hotel, and had a great couple of days exploring the Island. We drove to the top of the Ipsarion mountain which was worth the 2 hour drive along the hairpin roads as the views were magnificent, but if you are not a confident driver Tui also have an excursion there. The Korina is a lovely hotel with such friendly owners and staff who make everyone’s holiday a memorable one and we will definitely be returning. A special thank you to Athina, who together with Sofia and Dimitris, looked after us brilliantly. Thank you so much.…
What a brilliant hotel in quiet and beautiful surroundings. The hotel is ideally situated just a short walk from the beach and an excellent choice of restaurants. The beds were so comfy and new with brand new power shower. The staff and owners were kind and helpful , nothing was too much trouble. Many people return year after year to a place that reminds me of old Greece. Perfumed by jasmine and free of discos and nightclubs. A nice bar available in the evenings for your aperitifs or nightclubs. I suspect it will be much busier in high season but even so it would still be amazing. Oh did I mention the fabulous pool? Lots of other stuff to do too if you are feeling energetic like table tennis and tennis. This place is a real gem.
Beautiful hotel with a warm welcome. The standards kept were brilliant in every way. Breakfast and bar snacks very tasty and pool area a nice place to be. Car hire can be arranged for you at reception with a good knowledge of areas to visit. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble. There are a good choice of tavernas a 10 minute walk away. If you like Greece then Thassos is worth a visit and would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.
The hosts at Hotel Korina cannot do enough for you, this really is a family affair and all play their part. We hired a car and were provided with many ideas on where to go. The breakfast was superb, plenty of choice and continually topped up. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and modern with a bed so comfortable we would have loved to bring it home! The pool was clean with plenty of sunbeds. And the bar - well! we could not have wanted more! Just apologies to Dimitris snd Sophia for the late nights! This hotel is a real gem, conveniently located with many restaurants and the beach within easy walking distance. Will we be back - definitely!! Thank you for a fantastic holiday, we really couldn’t have asked for more!
I rarely write a review but must praise Sofia, Dimitris and their staff for the Korina, a real find. Everything was good but I must highlight how friendly and helpful were the staff; the wide choice at breakfast to suit every taste; a swimming pool you can really swim in; a very high standard of cleaning of room and bathroom every day, but without silly daily change of towels; and general peace and quiet. Many people hire a car but I managed to see most of the sights using the buses, though the timetable takes a bit of working out. And within 10 minutes or so walk is the beach and a choice of authentic Greek restaurants: I recommend the Alkioni, just off the sea front. If you are going to Thasos, stay at the Korina.
Brilliant small hotel with first class service in a Covid-safe atmosphere. Quietly located but only 600 yards to beach. Delightful pool and interior. Many restaurants nearby. Walkable onto Golden Beach for more amenities. Thoroughly recommended for couples.
Very clean.. Fresh drinks and food Best staff, Best owners and helpfull Very cozy. Best pool-bar with Best bartender I will recomended with pleasure When we will be back someday, în Thassos, we will be back to Korina!!! Best în town!!! "Hello Johnnie 😉"
Finally, after months of uncertainty, we have made it back to the Hotel Korina, notwithstanding the Carona virus. We were warmly greeted, and introduced to all of the safely measures that have to be in place. Dimitris and Sofia are as welcoming as ever, and the Hotel is as stunning as ever, with even more improvements to the rooms. Breakfast is ordered for the next day via QR Code reader, and is a choice of six breakfasts. Drinks at the bar are as always exceptional, many different nationalities, Greek, Romanian and Bulgarian, plus us Brits make it a wonderful and relaxing experience. We know we are the only British guests this year, and also the last this year. We have re-booked this years July holiday, for next July. I just hope all the Covid-19 will be over by then.....
Having vacations in this pandemic period tends to put a bit of stress. We had not too many concerns instead knowing the people at Hotel Korina and we are happy to see they do what ever is possible to keep the visitors in safe conditions. All the time the personnel is wearing masks and gloves, the breakfast transformed from self-service to a la cart, offering good selection and more, each customer being served individually at the table including coffee and drinks. And they spray everything after each usage of the tables, sun beds, places where the people stay. I think we're in a safe place and we appreciate a lot the effort the people at Hotel Korina put in offering us a good stay and help us enjoying the time in Thasos without nervous fear and concerns.
