Detailed Reviews
Having vacations in this pandemic period tends to put a bit of stress.
We had not too many concerns instead knowing the people at Hotel Korina and we are happy to see they do what ever is possible to keep the visitors in safe conditions. All the time the personnel is wearing masks and gloves, the breakfast transformed from self-service to a la cart, offering good selection and more, each customer being served individually at the table including coffee and drinks.
And they spray everything after each usage of the tables, sun beds, places where the people stay.
I think we're in a safe place and we appreciate a lot the effort the people at Hotel Korina put in offering us a good stay and help us enjoying the time in Thasos without nervous fear and concerns.

Our first time visiting Thassos and couldn't have chosen a better hotel, there are many repeat guests. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and a short walk from the beach and restaurants , on the flat and away from the hustle and bustle, an oasis of calm. Everywhere is spotlessly clean , rooms are modern and beds are very comfortable. We had a standard room which was a little on the small size so if staying for 2 weeks , I'd suggest a larger room if within your budget. Breakfast is well catered with good choice, frequently replenished and tables cleared. Pool bar serves great food for lunch at a reasonable price. The pool bar is a great place to make friends in the evening , although spirits were a bit expensive at EUR8. Comfortable padded sunbeds and could always find some free whatever time of day you got there, no reserving happening. By far the biggest asset of this hotel is the family and staff who go out of their way to welcome you and help you with recommendations and reservations. I would recommend though visiting before 20 June or after 10 September as the resort gets very busy as Eastern European schools have finished, although the hotel itself never felt crowded.

2nd time back at the wonderful Hotel Korina - like us there were lots of return guests which reflects the warm welcome everyone receives from Sofia, Dimitri & family.
The hotel is in a great location with views of the mountains and surrounding olive groves but only 10 mins walk on a quiet road down to the beach and tavernas.
The rooms and beds are really comfortable with daily maid service, the pool is big with plenty of sun beds and there is a great pool bar that serves food during the day/early evening.
We had a great time, met some lovely fellow guests once again and are already planning our return trip.

First time visit to Thassos but we have been to many Greek islands in the past. This is a three star plus hotel but punches well above its weight.
We had a room on the second floor overlooking the pool, the mountains and the sea. A triple bonus. The room was compact but entirely adequate as we spent very little time here unless sleeping. Air conditioning is 6 euros a day, tourist tax was 21 euros for us for a two week stay. The safe cost 30 euros for the two weeks.
Check in involved filling in an online form and then being shown to our room. Room was kept spotlessly clean as we're all public areas. Free WiFi was ok, not amazing when a few were on it, but who wants to spend all day on a phone? Sun loungers were always available and we only had one couple who did the claiming via a towel. We didn't follow suit, no one else did and we always got a lounger if required. The pool is excellent and as a swimmer, never too noisy or overcrowded. The pool bar served cold beer in colder glasses and prices were fair for a hotel. Breakfast buffet style was excellent, the food quality was extremely good including fresh fruit and local produce and replenished quickly. The two ladies who ran it worked very hard and did an excellent job. We had no issues at all during our two weeks, some drama when there was a large forest fire caused by lightning which took 4 days to subdue. The scale of the authorities response was wholly impressive. Thassos is a great place and so is Skala Potamias. Some great local restaurants and not expensive. Food quality was excellent. Not many English, which was a positive for us as we like authentic Greek islands, so no English or Irish pubs that we saw. Loved Thassos and loved the hotel.

Just spent two weeks here (currently sat in departure lounge at the airport!). We have travelled to Greece for over 20 years and this is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. I knew it would be good based on the photos and previous reviews. However, it was even better than I imagined.
We were checked in swiftly by Sofia who showed us to our room, 108. It was spotlessly clean. Lovely bathroom with shower cubicle and complimentary toiletries. The double bed was so comfortable. There is a minj fridge in the room. We paid 6 euros per night for air conditioning which worked really well. The room was cleaned daily. Lovely views of the mountains and a large balcony.
Breakfast is lovely. I loved the scrambled eggs. Plenty of choice.
The pool and surrounding area is gorgeous. Plenty of sunbeds and no rush to reserve one which makes a nice change. We ate most lunchtimes at the pool bar. Lovely food, especially enjoyed the salads and smoothies.
Sofia arranged car hire for us with a local company, 90 euros for two days which was excellent value.
Had a fabulous holiday and spoke to a number of repeat guests. It was our first visit and it won't be our last.
Thank you Sofia, Dimitris and family for your hospitality. We've had a fab time.

After reading such great reviews on the Korina I decided to book.
The pros are:- Thassos is a beautiful Island with lush greenery and surrounding mountains. The resort of Skala Potamia has an ok beach and plenty of good restaurants within walking distance, with a relaxed atmosphere.
The pool at The Korina is lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds with no need to worry about the “putting your towel down” brigade.
The pool bar food was very good too.
However, my husband and I were a bit disappointed to find our room quite cramped and breakfast was ok if you like continental, very limited hot breakfast.
The main issue was that the owners did not really seem friendly or sociable and as previously mentioned by another guest, following a storm, no power and unable to get any food, we were refused by the owner to make us even a sandwich, so ate crisp for dinner! Which is pretty poor hospitality!
All in all we had a great holiday with a group of like minded people we met at the hotel.
We would recommended Thassos !

Dear guest, We are honoured that your first contribution as a tripadvisor member is this review of our accommodation. Your title is correct, and we couldn't agree more that there is always room for improvement and there is no such thing as perfect, thus we take into consideration all the reviews and do try to get better year by year and learn from our mistakes. Offering top hospitality services to our guests is our goal and the smiling faces of our guests the reward to our efforts. All of our family and staff work long hours daily in order to provide a great holiday experience. For this reason we were all dissapointed to read that the highlight of your stay was the night of the storm and the luck of dinner. Even though we contsantly try our best, as I have previously explained to your fellow guest, it seems that sometimes the impossible cannot become possible. Regarding your comments concerning the breakfast I need to mention that we are very proud to be certified for offering Greek Breakfast and in no case it can be called continental. There is daily a diverse selection of at least 7 hot dishes from bacon and scrambled egges to baked vegetables and bulgur salads as well as traditional pastries and local pies among the selection of cold cuts, homemade cakes etc. We are glad that you have enjoyed our pool, food facilities and the friendly welcoming bar atmosphere and that despite the poor offered hospitality you had an overall great holiday. We hope that we will be given the chance to welcome you again on a future visit to our beautiful island. With respect,

Finally, after months of uncertainty, we have made it back to the Hotel Korina, notwithstanding the Carona virus. We were warmly greeted, and introduced to all of the safely measures that have to be in place.
Dimitris and Sofia are as welcoming as ever, and the Hotel is as stunning as ever, with even more improvements to the rooms. Breakfast is ordered for the next day via QR Code reader, and is a choice of six breakfasts.
Drinks at the bar are as always exceptional, many different nationalities, Greek, Romanian and Bulgarian, plus us Brits make it a wonderful and relaxing experience.
We know we are the only British guests this year, and also the last this year. We have re-booked this years July holiday, for next July. I just hope all the Covid-19 will be over by then.....

Just returned after 2 weeks' stay .We had room 202 on the side of the building lovely view, but even better, it was shady late afternoon when we returned, so sitting on the balcony was a pleasure. Hotel not too big modern ,clean and well looked after. We had a very small problem with the shower on arriving by the time we had had a cool off in the pool and returned to room it was fixed, no problem ir fuss, aircon was good and was quite reasonably priced. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of choice was always well stocked, and the coffee was nice. We had a lovely room it wasn't massive but I'm on holiday so want to spend as much time outside. Loads of storage good toiletetries small fridge kettle and safe. Cleaned regularly and clean towels often. The pool was big clean and well looked after never a rush for the very comfy beds. The hotel is in a lovely position with a flat, easy 10 min walk to the very busy front and beach . We spent so much day time at this amazing hotel as it was so peaceful and we needed to relax . Pool snacks are reasonably priced and very tasty. Coffee was lovely . A nice bar to return to for an end of the night tipple .Staff were helpful, smiley, fun approachable, and kind. Sorted a car out for us with ease. I would recommend this hotel to anyone .

First time to Thassos at the end of August and was very pleased to see our Hotel on arrival after seeing all the others dropped off on the coach on hilly roadsides. Hotel Korina is on a flat which was a bonus, has the most beautiful landscape of mountains in the backdrop and close to restaurants on the beachfront. Skala Potamia is a lovely village but we did hire a car and travelled all around the island stopping off at different villages for dinner in the evening and seeking out all the beaches that we could get too. Everyone seems to cram at the most poplar beaches but you need to take yourself off down little rocky roads to find the more serene. However We did like San Antonio beach and the walks on the beaches are just beautiful although some quite pebbley. You must also visit Thassos town and Panagia for evening dinners and check out all the marble everywhere. You must visit Taverna PIGI in Limenas which is a family run restaurant with lovely food and also the Italian Mare Verde in Golden Beach was nice. Our Hotel Korina was clean, tidy and peaceful. You will need to pay extra for the air-con which we didn’t realise but was not a problem. Not many children which was nice as we wanted the peace and relaxful days. Demitris would not allow any jumping into the pool by children which was good as it isn’t that kind of place anyway, so you could have a nice swim in the pool. Sofia was very warm and welcoming and always on hand to answer any queries that you may have. The girls at breakfast work very hard and never keep you without anything. Breakfast was good and love to try different things when abroad, isn’t that what it’s all about! We ate Greek almost every day. The rain did start to show the last 2 days we were there which was a shame but only for a few hours, but we did have the car so it was clearer the other side of the mountains. Sofia was fantastic in allowing us to have breakfast a little earlier the day before our coach pickup which we are very grateful for and was also lovely to be seen off. I would definitely recommend Hotel Korina and would come back, if I can put myself through the travelling again as all in all from leaving home to arrival at the hotel it took 12 hours as you also have to take in the ferry, if you miss the ferry time and then all the coach drop offs with Hotel Korina being the last. But was well worth it! Beautiful island 🇬🇷

We have just returned home from a 2 weeks stay . The hotel is lovely with a massive pool & great views of the mountains . The rooms are nice but a little compact . We made lots of lovely friends who we met up with each night in the pool bar. The reason for the only 3 out of 5 stars for the hotel is based on the day the storm hit the island . As people were getting ready to go out for their evening meal a storm hit the area resulting in a loss of power in skala potamia. A lot of the guests made their way to the pool bar as it was the only place to go . A few hours later the power came back on but the road to the beach front was like a river , we had no chance to go out for food. With the power back on we asked the "friendly" owner if he could cook some food for the stranded guests in the pool bar, i was shocked at his reply, a straight No, it will take too long to heat things up, a cold sandwich would have sufficed, but he wasnt even prepared to do that. We then asked if we could try & get food delivered im not sure that anyone could have made it up the road, but it was worth a try. But again he said no they have a policy of only food bought at the pool bar can be consumed . So that night we had a packet of crisps for tea, as did the other guests. So much for being a small and friendly hotel!! The owners actions that evening left a bitter taste which several other guests commented on. Overall we had a fantastic holiday with lovely people we met, however we would not return to this hotel based on the owners attitude that night, but we will definitely return to Thassos.

Dear Guest, Firstly I would personaly like to thank you for choosing to spend your summer holiday on Thassos as a guest to our Hotel, and also for the time spending to review your stay. We take our reviews very seriously and we do our best to improve and offer the best possible holiday experience to all of our guests. I am very happy that you have no complaints regarding our accommodation and our friendliness till the night of the storm and at the same time I am very sorry that you left with bitter feelings based on a one night experience but you should have taken into consideration the circumstances. As you have noticed during your 14 nights stay we are a small family run Hotel. The pool bar stops serving food at 21:00 and there is no restaurant in the premises. All the food served at the bar is freshly cooked and even the cold sandwiches are made with frechly cooked bread. As you can understand at 23:00 at night and after the massive power cut and the floods it was not possible to cook anything at the pool bar and that was very poilitely explained to you. As for the take away, by law, we are not allowed to have anything consumed at the bar that is not bought from us, thus having take away there was not possible. In any case take away would not have been an option for you as the restaurants had no power either thus deliveries were not accepted. The friendlines of both our family and our staff was shown to you during all of your 14 nights stay and I am sorry that your review is based basicaly on the fact that you had no dinner one night because of the thunderstorm, the floods and the power cut. I am glad that you have enjoyed Thassos island and that you will be returning and I hope that we will have the chance of welcoming again to our Hotel as well.
