The reception at the hotel was very friendly and everything was professional.
The Proteas blu is away from Pythagoreo, so you need either a taxi or a rental car if you don't just want to stay in the complex.

It is located on a hillside in a beautiful, clean, rocky bay, the water is clear, warm, calm.
The bay is only for hotel guests, there are loungers with parasols, daybeds, and there were plenty of them at the time we were there.
The beach bar only offers drinks, but they are also served to your lounger.
There are few shady spots at the beautiful pool, which is higher up! Too few in my opinion.
There is a restaurant by the pool that is very matter-of-fact and offers little holiday atmosphere, as does the restaurant in the main building, where breakfast and dinner are served.
We only booked with breakfast, which was just right for us.
On the day we arrived, we also went for the four-course meal in the evening, for which we had received a voucher, so we only had to pay for the drinks. The restaurant staff are all very friendly, but we didn't really like it.
We drove around the area in a rental car and always ate out at different places.
The complex is beautifully planted and well maintained.
The rooms have a friendly maritime feel (we lived in a unit halfway up the hill) and we had a balcony with a wonderful view of the bay.
The rooms seem to have been renovated, the bathroom is a bit dated, but clean! (No mold, as is often the case in bathrooms, only the toilet siphon could be cleaned better, there are deposits here).
All the staff are very attentive and friendly, on arrival we received welcome cocktails and a bottle of ice-cold champagne in a bucket in our room.
There were always attentions that we were happy to take advantage of (a massage, a manicure, a pedicure, fresh water in small bottles in the room every day, fans, sun hats, small bracelets...)
We didn't use the two a la carte restaurants in the complex, so we can't comment on them.
The beach bar is open until 1 a.m., with a great view of the sea and sometimes live music, but was not used much by holidaymakers during our vacation.

Overall recommended, but only with breakfast and mobility, as the island still has a lot to offer.
We felt very welcome here.

A really great resort! The rooms were beautiful, the rooms were cleaned every day, you received new towels and it was also possible to change your bath towels every day. Each room received a gift every day, from Greek delicacies to a beach bag. All employees were nice and especially Ianna from reception is great. Everything was arranged whatever you asked for. Even received a free upgrade to one of the suites with private pool!!! In short, highly recommended!

The two of us went to this hotel last July.
A quick history: we booked this hotel through TUI Belgium a week before departure, we received a message that the hotel was fully booked (1 day upon arrival). No problem, this hotel had already booked another (5 star) hotel for us and with compensation that we could enjoy their restaurant for free every evening. Upon arrival in Samos, we were informed by the TUI tour guide that we could still stay in the hotel from day 1. It is a pity that we did not know this in advance that this was already in order.. is this communication from TUI or from the hotel?? Doesn't matter, in the end this was sorted out and the hotel acted very correctly (and so did TUI).

When we arrived at the hotel, the room was not ready... we were immediately pleasantly welcomed with a drink (Aperol).
We were then taken to our room (by golf cart) by the receptionist.
The receptionist gave us all the necessary explanations and was very clear and friendly.
We arrived in room 431 which I think is a slightly older room. There were two sun hats and a beach bag ready in the room... very nice!!

Room: the room is quite okay and fairly modern, only the bathroom is a downside, it is dated and does not match the rest of the hotel room. This gives you 4 stars out of 5. Every day they give you a nice gadget from the hotel, which we really appreciated.

Domain: the domain is located on a mountain, so this hotel is not ideal for people who have difficulty walking a lot, but there is the option to be taken away in a golf cart. So this is a solution for people with reduced mobility. There are also many stairs. But you shouldn't let this deter you.
Instead you get a breathtaking view of the sea!!! For those who rent a car, there is plenty of space to park, parking next to your room is also possible (parking on the side)

Food in the hotel:
Breakfast is very extensive and delicious... everything you can imagine is available, so there is nothing to complain about.
Lunch: Lunch is also more than okay, lots of choice between drinks and food. The quality is really great!
Dinner: you have the option to make a reservation in the rooftop restaurant for both 30 euro pp menu. There is a different menu every day except Wednesday (buffet). The food is good, but that's all, don't expect the food you get like in the towns. But we were not dissatisfied because they do their very best to please you.
Dinner in dinner in the boats: The last evening we made a reservation for the restaurant on the boats (fish restaurant). The food is of high quality and you can taste that it was prepared by a chef!

WIFI: for the WiFi geeks, there is good WiFi coverage everywhere on the domain, in our room this was about 25 to 30mbps.

Conclusion:
Beautiful hotel definitely worth it, very friendly staff!! Be sure to rent a car so you can get out and about!
We had rented a car through the hotel (I suspect they work together), the car (small Toyota) was nothing to write home about... driving and air conditioning did not go together or you could not go up the mountain... TIP rent a car somewhere else.

The strange attitude of the staff - superficially polite and not genuinely willing to help you.
We paid a room with a sea view however we actually got a room on the first floor with a garden/bush view. Additionally, the building in front of our room blocked our sea view as well. The reason that we got this room was the fact that the hotel was overbooked!
After 4 days they managed to give us a room with a sea view but it was located at the edge of the premises, near the hotel’s AC generator, which was making noise during the night.
Furniture in the room was rather simple for a 5* hotel, the lid of the closet was broken, bathroom was also very simple, as one can expect it at the 2* hotel. We were expected to put used toilet paper in the trash bin instead to flush it in the toilet. This is something one would not expect while staying at 5* hotel. We do believe that they have problems with plumbing if taken into account the smell near the main building …
In the bed we found small ants which were crawling over the face during the night what was terrible. To prove our writing we made several pictures of everything what was mentioned here in review.
We also wanted to book dinner at the hotel’s restaurant but were denied entrance because we did not have closed shoes - it was very hot in the evening…
And if you look at the shoes of waitresses they wore black rough closed Nike or the similar shoes and in combination with shorter trousers it looked weird….. and waitresses sweat a lot.
Also, this 5* hotel does not provide shuttle to and from the city.. this is quite normal in other 5 stars hotel.
Now the good things:
The beach is great and sun beds and beach towels are free for hotel guests. The pool we liked the most. Also, there is a free hotel golf car ride inside the premises for hotel guests. If you rent a car there is a free parking space available inside the resort. And the garden was beautiful and well maintained.

Dear Enjoyfit, Thank you for your detailed review and for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the beach, pool, and the beautiful gardens, as well as the complimentary amenities like the sunbeds, beach towels, golf car rides, and parking. However, we want to address some of the concerns you've raised. It's important to clarify that all of our rooms do indeed offer sea views, and we're sorry if the view from your initial room didn’t meet your expectations due to its location. We strive to ensure that every guest enjoys the view they anticipate, and we regret any disappointment you may have felt. We understand that the noise from the AC generator and the condition of the room may have impacted your stay. However, we believe these aspects can be subjective, as guest experiences can vary. Nonetheless, we appreciate your feedback and are committed to ensuring that every guest has a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Regarding the dress code at our restaurant, we maintain certain standards to create a specific dining atmosphere, but we understand how this might have been inconvenient, especially given the warm weather. We'll review how we communicate and enforce these policies to ensure they're applied fairly and with consideration. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a stay that better aligns with your expectations Best regards, PBR Team

Well, what an absolute wonderful place. The beach is beautiful, pool area is lovely and the staff are amazing. I would recommend hiring a car if you want to see other parts of the island as there is very limited bus service, in fact I didn’t see a bus all the time we were there.
If you want to go in to the nearest town which is Pythagorean, you will probably need to get a taxi which is €8 each way, as the road is pretty dangerous to walk. If you need a taxi, just go to reception and they will organise it straight away.
If you are celebrating a special anniversary or birthday, why not try seafood restaurant where the lovely Simonetta and will give you great service and the food is wonderful.
The view is amazing.
If you fancy a drink or cocktail, Vassillis is your man, he runs the reception bar.
The choice at the breakfast buffet is fantastic, plenty of choice, even fried eggs and omelettes cooked while you wait.
The only gripe was the bathroom in the room needs updating.
We loved it so much we have booked to go back next year.

We stayed at Proteas in mid-July, booked double room with balcony. The room was clean and with great views. Enjoyed our week very much, nice with gifts in the room and every day we got two water bottles of 50 cl. The staff were friendly and helpful. Nice beach with different types of sun loungers. There is no supermarket nearby so we had to take the taxi to buy snacks and extra water.
Great choice at breakfast. We had lunch at Simplicity poolside restaurant, good food. We took a taxi down to Pythagorian in the evening, costs 8 euros. Staff at reception order taxis. We even managed to get the tour to be upgraded after a few days from a double room to a suite at no extra cost. We also booked flights and hotels through Tui.
Would warn that there were small fish that bit you when we were swimming at the beach, so we stayed by the pool and our own pool.

This hotel only works if you have half board and/or a rental car. It is not advisable to walk to Pythagorio, but it can be done in daylight. There is a bus, but as far as we understood, the last bus on weekdays from the city to the hotel is already at 15.15. If you search for taxis on the internet, you get decent taxi meter prices, but in reality ALL taxi companies on the whole island have formed a cartel and charge an unreasonably high fixed price for all trips, in cash and without receipts!

And if you booked, as we unfortunately did, without half board, it will be expensive days in the sun. The hotel has 24 hours before dinner you have to book, which makes it very sad on holiday that you have to decide a whole day before. And ALL the restaurants they brag about aren't that many in reality; Panorama included in half board is open every day, Theory only 3 days, same for Oyster, and on Wednesdays no à la carte is available at all. The pool bar is supposed to be open until 7pm according to the document you get, and it doesn't say a single thing that you have to order before 6pm, so you are constantly blown away by everything. Between 18-20 you cannot eat at all in this hotel.

The staff at the reception do not understand at all that people think that their restrictions to eat in the hotel become a problem. They really have a hard time understanding. We arrived due to a delayed flight after 9 p.m., and did not receive any information that we already had to book for dinner the next day. And when we stood at the restaurant the next day, they refused us to eat there. Although it was obvious that we had not found out about their regulations 24 hours before.
We have stayed in many hotels in the world and have never been refused to buy dinner. Despite bringing it up again and again, we got no response. Their responsiveness is non-existent. According to the reception, we would understand that it is obvious to them that you have to book 24 hours in advance.

We also had a water leak from the led light in the bathroom ceiling, and we discovered that you could open our door by lightly pressing above the handle. Instead of giving the guests a pool towel each, you have to bring your plastic card and exchange it for a towel. Unfortunately already on day 2, the towels are OUT, and they ask us to come back in an hour.
Why not collect towels from the hotel instead? This happened one more time and then we were assigned thin blankets that could not be dried on at all. So there is some that drags the rating down.

The breakfast was very good but there are no explanatory signs about what eg. the main dishes are Is it meat, fish or vegan? The juice in the hidden juice bar with annoying hatches is flavored water, completely unnecessary to drink. The raw juice centrifuge with fruit from the outdoor kitchen is very good, but you have to wait as only one glass can be made at a time.

But for us who were to stay in a luxury hotel for 14 days and choose between two à la carte restaurants every day, as well as a pool bar, it was just a boring holiday. We had to rent a car to be able to have a few enjoyable days away from this hotel. We understand that it works perfectly if you, as I wrote at the beginning, have half-board/rental car, but without that, it's a nightmare.

Great hotel. Located beautifully and everything is just fine. There is 30 min walk to the center or you can take a taxi for 8 euros. Super nice rooms. Great breakfast. There were small gifts for us in the room 5 out of 7 days. Beautiful sunbeds by the beach without charge

We had a wonderful holiday. We really relaxed. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious. The waiters/waitresses were super nice. Very clean and beautiful pool.
But.... We booked a room with a sea view, which is the middle class that you can book. It became bungalow Meerblick. We got room 431. I added a photo. As you can see, no sea view from our room. We indicated this at the reception but the only thing the reception said was that there were no other rooms available and we could complain to our own travel agency.
The room was otherwise okay. I only find it strange that, to shower we had to step into the bath. Fortunately we are fit enough to be able to do that.
We went on holiday for 8 days. 6 out of 8 days the music did not work during breakfast and dinner. It was a shame, you miss some atmosphere. Otherwise fine but I expected more service from a 5 star hotel in case of the above issues, but heard nothing

There are not heated but In Greece the weather in May is over 25 degrees and it's always sunny ☀️ so there is no need of heating the private pools. Ps. The pool is outside the room at a balcony enjoying the view of the sea below and mountains and the nature from around.
