Just back for a terrific weak at the Doryssa seaside resort. We cannot fault the property. The staff were all amazing and went out of their way to make us feel welcome . We stayed on a Bed and Breakfast basis and also used the pool bar Restaurant . The breakfast selection was amazing and it was nice to be able to prepare a Nespresso coffee for yourself. The food from the pool bar was also extremely good .
We loved the proximity to the town whilst being located on the beach .
I am sure we will return.
Thank you all at the resort for making our holiday so special and memorable.

Location is excellent, on a gorgeous beach and 10min walk to a quaint port town. Very clean facilities. Little shop on the premises and the village is lovely, feels very authentic from what I have seen of Greek Villages.

The staff are outstanding. The maid for our room (first floor) was very friendly and went over the top, folding my partner's clothes into a butterfly on the bed. Andi and Antonis the waiters were very friendly and welcoming, they made us feel special the entire time. Very very friendly and always up for a chat.

The only reason I have rated 4* is because the breakfast wasn't the best (cold food when arriving at opening time) and there is a lack of activities for free at the hotel. Tennis cost €12 for the hour and the sunbeds are €3 per person per day. Other than that, brilliant hotel and holiday.

This luxury hotel in Samos has a lot going for it. Set in a nice location, it is endowed with a sandy beach and enticing sea just in front of the hotel, which remained calm for a whole week. We stayed in a nice comfortable room (311) at the third floor with a sea view, modern and very quiet A/C and enjoyed an excellent level of cleanliness day in day out. Indeed, the overall service we enjoyed throughout our stay was first class, which is a consolation because there are quite a few things to forgive and forget! For 3 days they could not get the TV stations to work in our room... When they eventually fixed the problem (on the 4th day) to add insult to the injury the TV did not work at all the last night (so only 2 days of decent TV service). The overall quality of the food (luckily we only had breakfast) is mediocre. Since we Greeks pay a lot of money (360 Euros) per day we expect much more. I have been to many similar hotels in Greece and this breakfast ranks amongst the worse. Fortunately they did not charge us for the fresh orange juice which was an extra. We had lunch once and it was also mediocre and very expensive. In fact the "mediocre but very expensive" tag applies to everything you drink and eat in this hotel. The only exception being the Asian restaurant, which is really good but very very expensive! Then again eating out in Samos is generally expensive (vs other similar Greek islands)... Overall, for a Greek this hotel in August is poor value for money and you feel being constantly squeezed (not to use another popular, more suitable Greek word).

Our room had a stunning sea view (which cost extra) with a fantastic sunrise. We had the restaurant below but only a little noise from 7:00am if you had the balcony doors open. Spacious with a great shower, plenty of hot water and a very comfortable bed. A good sized fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine. The only small criticism was there was no mirror above the dressing table and and the socket too far away.

We took the b&b option which had a vast choice with an omelette station, the hot food is kept in heated containers but was always tepid but edible. Great staff who were always clearing your table and the restaurant manager was very friendly and helpful.

The pools were very clean with a great bar and friendly staff (especially Andi). The beach was fantastic with plenty of sun beds (at 7 euros) with call buzzers on the brollies for a drinks and snacks service. Between the hotel/pools and the beach was a lovely grassed area with trees for shade and several beach showers.
Free towels are supplied that you could change every 3 days.

The town and harbour of Pythagoreio is only a 20 minute walk with plenty of great shops, bars and restaurants and plenty of taxis to and from the hotel for 5 euros.

Thanks for a stress free relaxing holiday, we would definitely recommend the Doryssa and will be going back again!

We visited this hotel during the first 2 weeks of July 2022, we had very high expectations due to the hotels website and rating, but we were very disappointed.
Plus points, in general the staff are excellent, particularly the staff around the pool bar who seem to work hard for incredibly long hours but give excellent service with a smile, the room we had was a lovely modern room with a big comfy bed and decent shower.
Bad points, where do I start! I believe this hotel has now started trying to build its all inclusive side but at our time of booking Tui weren't offering us that so we were b&b. The mix of the 2 was chaos and the hotel doesn't seem geared up for it.. it appears to have over 450 rooms some of which are family rooms, that's a lot of people.. 1 toaster at breakfast! 3 coffee machines but often only 1 with coffee in it! Plenty of cold offerings at breakfast, cold eggs 3 ways.. cold bacon, beans, mushrooms.. tiny little croissants that lidl wouldn't stock.. worst breakfast experience at any hotel ever!
In the evening the MAIN bar has 1 guy taking drinks orders (can't walk to the bar and order a drink. Got to wait for Adonis to come to you) over 450 rooms.. lots of people.. long waits to get served, Adonis was a great Lad doing he's best but at times completely overrun, and the 1 barman making the cocktails was trying it on with every girl he came across, on one occasion he'd poured himself a drink and gone to sit with a guest holding hands and ignoring Adonis asking him to return to make the orders!! Very professional and not the standard I'd expect from Tui Blu. The pool is small and has limited sun beds, there is a lot of space around the grounds surrounding the pool but the only beds are on the pool side, which means you have to get up much earlier than us to lay round there.
The hotel has 2 restaurants on site, these are overpriced and we experienced very bad service, in fact as a b&b customer we found all drinks prices very high and in some cases twice the price of restaurants 10 minutes down the road.
The hotel caters mostly to Italian customers even to the extent of organising parties around the pool which we didn't seem welcome at.. that was the worst night to get served at the bar.
Overview is the hotel has a lot of potential but its mix of b&b and all inclusive is chaotic, the staff though are fantastic and battling bad systems.
It felt like a money making machine and definitely not Tui blu.

We stayed here for a week in June. It was our 3 rd stay at this hotel. Previously we have stayed in the hotel and the village. We actually preferred the hotel as the air conditioning seemed better and the room was more modern. Therefore for this holiday we requested a room in the actual hotel. On arrival we were disappointed to find that our room was in the village and were told there were no rooms left in the actual hotel. After a sleepless night due to traveling, we felt very disappointed by this so called “upgrade”. However, once we got used to our upstairs room in the village, we came to like it. There were a few problems with the room in that towards the end of the week, the fridge emitted an eggy smell, we believe from the coolant. Also it wasn’t possible to use our wardrobe properly because there was a shelf below the hanging rail, so no space for me to hang dresses, nor my husband his shirts. I will include a photo below because this is something which could be looked at.
More positively our room was quiet and cleaned to a high standard. We slept very well there at night and also enjoyed the balcony.
Most guests are Scandinavian and full board. Being British and with TUI, we were Bed and Breakfast only. Very few Brits there, which we like but you really are in the minority, not being full board.
The restaurants and drinks at the hotel are extremely expensive compared to those in Pythagoreio and more locally. We often used to eat at a taverna next to the hotel, on the road called Pegasus. The food was reasonably priced here. Pegasus is found by coming out of the hotel and turning right along the road. Pegasus is then on your right. Highly recommend. Most evenings we enjoyed eating in the harbour. There was a lovely choice of restaurants there and lots to see.
I was really disappointed to see that there were no longer Aqua classes each day in the pool. Really used to enjoy those when previously there.
The TUI rep was good and extremely informative. We visited Blue Street which was interesting and also went on a TUI trip to Koukari, one evening which we enjoyed and it made a pleasant change.
We will probably return again one day and hope for a room in the hotel. Thank you for a lovely holiday - much appreciated after not venturing abroad for a while due to the pandemic. Samos will always remain a very special place for us.

Have just returned from a week’s stay at the Doryssa. The hotel is beautifully modern and we had a sea view room in the main block. The majority of guests are from Scandinavia and largely stay on an all inclusive basis. There is only one flight from Gatwick a week to Samos which of course limits the number of UK visitors. The pool and beach areas are great. Our favourite was the Asterias beach club next door with super comfy sunbeds and a great choice of food and drink. The walk into town takes around 15 mins and if you’re feeling jaded a few mins in a cab will cost €5. The town of Pythagorean itself is great - lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. We particularly likely walking round to the tavernas at the far end and using the sun beds there and having lunch and drinks throughout the day. The water is amazing in the harbour area. Definitely don’t be put off by proximity of airport. The flights are few and are great to watch! The spa is very nice and was able to book a couple of treatments during time there. Staying at the Doryssa gives a good mix of modern with the opportunity of a short walk to town to experience a traditional Greek small port town.

I thought the star rating system is based on the facilities provided and not such things a gold plated bath taps! This hotel provides a myriad of facilities. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the place is clean. Our bed was large and very comfortable with the linen changed every other day. The food was a little expensive in the pool restaurant but it was freshly and excellently cooked. The portions were large. A large beer cost 4 euros which compares favourably to 3.50 in the port. I ate there every lunchtime. It is said that there are not many pool sunbeds, but who wants to be crammed into a pool area surrounded by screaming kids and listening to loud piped music. Best to go to the beach and bathe in the lovely , clear sea. Sure you have to pay, but the cost is worth it for two very comfortable beds and a large umbrella. The are call buttons on the umbrellas to summon waiters for food and/or drink. The hotel provides large beach towels. The hairdryers are standard hotel wall mounted and are perfectly adequate. Only a couple of downers. There are not enough toilets in the bars and restaurants and the Asian Fusion restaurant is a waste of space. Never saw anyone in it and the menu is incomprehensible. Overall it is worth it's rating. It is worth going into the port to eat in the evenings but if you like a hotel based holiday then this is the place for you.

The problem with Doryssa is not so much what it is but what it claims to be. The pictures are stunning, but unfortunately reality does not live up to these. Many of the outside furniture , like the beds, do not exists. On the webpage it looks like a beautiful boutique hotel, but in reality it has teamed up with TUI and is a charter hotel with all the stress that comes with that. There are too many people and not enough beds by the pool, and every morning many people would take their towels to secure their sunbeds for the day, and then only show up much later. Which meant that they were all taken but a minority were used. The beds in the villas are very uncomfortable. At a five starts hotel you expect the beds to be comfortable with a mattress topper, but instead they were so hard. When we asked for a better solution they provided a mattress topper which covered 2/3 of the bed. The breakfast was ok, but I really wish their had been orange and apple juice there.

Lovely hotel and if we were travelling as a couple it would have been ideal as a b&b. However we travelled with a baby and through no particular fault of their own, it probably wasn’t the most suitable. The room was very hot upon arrival, after three visits by the engineer it was finally fixed (albeit one of these times it was our oversight) however we heard other guests complaining about the same. It is not a cool hotel and it took a good few days for our room to properly cool down. This is surprising for what looks like a modern hotel. The travel cot didn’t have a proper mattress which was a huge negative. The swimming pool is quite large but you do have to lay your towels down before breakfast to have any chance of getting one. Pool was very noisy and full of children but that is to be expected during holiday times. The baby pool had a very rough finish which made it very uncomfortable to sit in and scratched the babies feet. The reason there isn’t many beds at the pool is because they want you to pay for a bed on the beach. However these too get very busy very early. Breakfast was nice with a fair amount of choice, dinner however became quite repetitive and there wasn’t much greek food on offer, which was a shame. Samos is a really lovely island and I would definitely visit again, however would choose to walk into the harbour each night for dinner, which is only a 10 min walk from the hotel and offers plenty of choice. Be warned-it is very windy!
