We were told to wait to book a place on Santorini until we landed at the docks by ferry. We wanted to stay close to Fira and we met a gentleman that was able to assist us. He gave us a ride to this Pension. The rooms are spacious but simple and that is what we expected. It was a 5 minute walk into Fira and the bus station is right on the edge of town so you can get around the island so easily. The pool at the pension was excellent and located just on the other side of the street. I would recommend this for a cheaper simple option to the high priced hotels in downtown Fira.
We stayed 5 nights in this pension, Mr Roussos is very kind, he grabed us at the port and also bring us at the airport at 6AM. The room was perfect, clean, nice bathroom. The room 10 is big, you also have the AC. The pool is very clean. The pension it's at 15min walking to Fira. Just the WIFI is not working in the rooms, just a little detail! I recommand this pension, the family is very sweet.
We spent in June 4 days in this pension, and they were really really nice. First of all you have to relax, after Maria and her parents take care of you. The rooms are cleaned every day. They really make your life easy, you can have tickets for excursion, you have the transfert from the airport, if you want a car no problem, Maria's brother can rent you some!! The city Karterados is really well located at 20min by foot from the capital and in the middle of the island.. Really not disapointed. Higly recommanded. Efkaristo
The problem started when we landed at 2am without a hotel room. We should have obviously planned ahead. Anyway this nice enough Older Greek Man picked us up at the airport and took us to very basic pension. There were 4 of us and he took us to 1 large room w 3 small twin beds and 1 double bed. Again that was fine up to that point. Somewhat dissatisfied with the bathroom which smelled like a sewer, at best. I could even deal with the awful smell because we didn't pay much. But the real kicker was when the old guy burst into our room at 10:55 (literally walked right in) and started ranting and raving about us needing to be out by 11:00am and stood there until we got our things packed and out , all the while yelling that we slept in 1 too many beds. Apparently he counted the room as a 5 bed room because 1 was a double and he was ticked off that we slept in one of the extra twin beds. Technically no one slept on the opposite side of the double bed. So if he's going to count it as 5 beds, technically we only slept in 4 anyway. We watched as he kicked out another client next door to us who literally had to walk out with a pot of food that they were making for breakfast. This place gives "check out time" a completely new meaning. So if you don't mind the sewer smell and being stuck out in the middle of no where, then it's a cheap option. Oh and they obviously should not brag about Greek Hospitality" on their web site. They don't deserve to use that term! Hopefully the rest of our Santorini vacation will get better! …
Our stay at Pension Roussos was quite mitigated : This place is well located at 15min from Fira by foot and the price is therefore really fair for a place that close to the main city. Also our room was simple but nice and the swimmingpool is a great asset for the place. However, the breakfast was not very good, with industrial cakes and we did not like to pay for something industrial. But it was still a quite complete breakfast. Also the host were nice but do not expect to ask them too much.
At the time of the big groups, the place is probably not for the lightest sleepers. Having mentioned that, the owners are irresistibly hospitable and helpful. The breakfasts are served most warmly. The Wi-Fi is very fast (accessible from almost everywhere in the hotel). The pool is great as well and the location is ~15 mins walk from Thira (Fira). We'd be delighted to come back :)
