We were very skeptical when our tour booked us at this hotel. The reviews are not good, but we went in with an open mind. It is clear that they have made improvements over the years. The windows & doors are all new. The floors, the grounds and all areas of the hotel are remarkably clean. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, despite what some of the previous reviews are indicating. We did have one issue. We were assigned the farthest room from the front, room #221 or #241. The Wi-Fi would not work in our room, which was a big deal when that is how we stayed in touch with family at home. The room was also extremely small, even for standards in Greece. After one night the staff was able to move us to another room which had working Wi-Fi and was also considerably larger. They really stepped up to resolve the situation. The showers are very small, but that seems to be a standard this part of the world. Being just outside of Fira was not an issue. It was nice and quiet with some fantastic restaurants about 500 meters down the road. The bus system in Santorini is excellent and there is stop just steps from the hotel door. Pool is also very large and a great place to relax. I wouldn't dismiss this property.…
Lady at the front desk in the evening is sweet but... You have to pay €3 to take a towel to the swimming pool ‼️ Seriously. The shower is smaller than one sq. meter/yard -- and the plastic shower curtain will cling to you. 😱 You may save a little money with this inconvenient lodging, but it's not worth it.
This hotel was booked by our tour with Intrepid. If I had a choice, I would have passed. While the hotel is relatively clean, there are no views to be had. It is right next to the bus stop and across from Zotos Cafe in Karteradhos. It's about 20 minutes walking from Fira, the closest Caldera above the Old Port of Santerini. If you want to go to Oia, you'd have to take a bus or car there. People are not joking about the grey haired morning shift receptionist. She's just about as hospitable as a doorknob. She was rude to two members of our tour group and I overheard her being rude to another guest. Maybe that's her nature but she clearly does not care, judging from the many reviews on Tripadvisor. She did accommodate our request to store our luggage which was nice but most hotels offer that service. Masks indoors are strictly enforced. The hotel does provide a daily breakfast box to all guests, which you can take back to your room to eat or enjoy outdoors. When we checked in, there was only one set of towels for two adults. As we were leaving, we asked to get an extra set of towels but our request was not accommodated despite the assurance that we'd get more towels. I had to walk out the following morning to request it from the housekeeping staff. The housekeeping staff do not really speak English so I had to go back to the room and grab a towel to show her what I needed. The room was comfortable but the shower is small. The A/C worked fine but it was one of the least enjoyable rooms we stayed at in Greece. There was a small balcony with chairs adjacent to our room with a view of nothing but the surrounding neighborhood, particularly someone's clothesline. The hotel has a pool which is nice but why go to the pool when you're on an island full of beach and ocean views.…
Took 30 minutes to check in, lack of information about breakfast. The grey haired morning receptionist woman is very rude and very poor customer service. Unapologetic about her behaviour. Very incompetent and should be FIRED!! I suggest she needs to study hospitality as she is clueless about customer service & hospitality industry. She is a bad representation for the hotel which is a shame! The room is spacious, clean & adequate storage. Swimming pool is okay, but didnt have a long time to swim die to organised trips.
Our stay at this hotel was a selection based on our tour operator (Air Transat). Although the hotel was clean, the front desk staff were not friendly, and made it seem like they couldn’t wait until you checked out. The included breakfast was awful without even so much as a toaster to toast bread. Saving grace was an excellent bakery located just across the street. We went to use the breakfast area one evening to play cards and were told we couldn’t because it was set up for the morning breakfast already. The hotel is also located about a 30 minute walk to where the shopping area was. On an island with so many hotels, I can easily suggest passing on this one.
The rooms are tiny and no view. However, worst of all was breakfast. Almost zero food and no service. The dayshift front desk woman (short, greyhair) was extremely rude and she made us feel like we were putting her out. I'll never come here again. Shame on Air Transat for putting us through this experience. The desk woman should be fired immediately. Not ANY kind of a hotel representative. The hotel location is a slimy area. Poor facade.
We really enjoyed our stay at Albatros. The hotel is charming and we loved the outdoor pool. It’s right near the bus station but we ended up walking to Fira each day which isn’t far at all. The breakfast selection was limited but it tasted good. Our room was larger than expected and we had a balcony with a beautiful view. The bathroom shower was very small though. There are some restaurants, bakeries and a grocery store nearby so you don’t have to go far for whatever you need. Overall, I was happy with our stay at Albatros.
It's not fancy, but Albatros certainly worked for us for the three days we were in Santorini. The hotel is very clean. The rooms, at least ours was quite small, although the air conditioning and fridge worked and we spent so little time there it really didn't matter. The pool area is clean and quiet. As for location we could walk to center of Thira in about 15 minutes. Plus there were a variety of restaurants and shops nearby.
Best things about this hotel is that it has a cool pool, close to the local bus station which is great to get and go to the port, 15min to Thera to walk and close to amazing restaurants and superb local bakery. Its very clean and interior is dated (but not end of the world for a budget hotel) and most rooms have a cute balcony.
Stayed 3 nights with our tour group. Room was dated, but bed was comfortable and clean. Air con worked well. Room was large and had 3 single bed in it. Bathroom was smallish. Shower curtain seemed to stick to your body as it had a small shower base. Not a good shower head. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was the worst I have experienced in a hotel. Staff seemed pleasant except the receptionist who didnt seem happy at all. Pool was lovely and clean, plenty of sun Loungers and table and chairs. Umbrellas were around as well as some trees for shade. 24 hour bakery across the road, ATM up the street or down the road. IMO the hotel was a bad choice as it was a 15-20 mins walk to Fira . Not really ideal. I think there would be better choices Would not recommend this hotel…
