Right…the hotel itself it is nice, it has beautiful gardens, the buildings have traditional characteristics but….what a bad management… staff need to learn how to make people feel welcomed, the front house is special needs and to be honest he is doing his job but the restaurant, the bar staff, not at all nice, from the first evening the chef was shouting at my son over spilled food which was not spilled by my son! Tried to explain but I think they did not speak English.. then, another big minus is they charge you for everything! You pay for meals with your holiday but then you have to pay on top for drinks that are not cheap at all…pay for air con too..anyway… food was basic, very basic, you will not starve but is not delicious at all, same things all over…son found bones in his bolognaise sauce… cleanness…well, the system is they change your towels every 3 days although I asked for towels the second day and they provided, don’t think they changed linen, maybe once…because the front of house has some communication problems we did not understand everything from them…v bad communication and tbh we did not felt welcomed at all…not friendly…I would avoid it. Beach is very nice and v close and we ended up eating out, local tavernas are very good and affordable. Overall we had a great holiday but not a nice stay at this hotel, the travel agent solded us the holiday advertising this hotel as 3 stars but I don’t think it has 3 stars.. swimming pool v small and closes at 7…not nice

We've spent a week in the hotel. I would not recommend it, as: 1.) rooms are small, old, the closet is stinky, the shower rooms is sooo tiny I couldn't even have a good shower.... There is no television in the room.. .Furthermore, you need to pay for the safe, for air conditioning and for the fridge as well. 2.) The food is acceptable, but not appetizing or well-chosen. There are always the same foods, you get fed up with it within 3 days... You need to pay (a lot) for the drinks, even for water. 3.) the pool and the garden are great; there are a lot of nice plants in the garden. The hotel is near to the beach and to the city center. 4.) The staff is not very helpful or communicative - they do not even speak English. Crete and Stalis are beautiful, we enjoyed our vacation but I would not recommend this hotel.

What a lovely family run place. No, not beach front and elaborate but 100 metres from the beach and not much further to a local tourist beachside area full of everything. Loved the breakfast and evening meals plus staff were welcoming. Would stay here again without hesitation. Enjoy!

Before I booked my holidays in Paloma Gardens I was little bit hesitant as the rating on trip advisor was in the mid range only. After my holidays, I truly have to say I don't understand why this place does not have 5 star rating from everyone! I came with my boyfriend in the middle of the night, we were greeted by the hotel owners. The main foreign language they speak is Germany but their English is good and we had a short chat every day. The room was simple (eg no TV but who needs a TV on their holidays?) but super clean, bright and nice. i think every room has a balcony which was just a perfect size. We had two single beds merged together which we did not like so without any hassle, we were moved to another room with a double bed. This room was also perfectly sufficient. FOOD! I cannot explain the food which was prepared for us every evening. Just beautiful. And you have many vegetarian and vegan options too. Breakfast was also rich with a variety of choices. The beach is approx 5 mins walk from the hotel. You have a stony part but if you walk only a few meters away there is sandy beach all along the coast up until to Malia. I can say just one thing, me and my boyfriend had a time of our lives there. Thank you to the warm approach from the hotel owners (a family run business) who take exceptionally good care of their customers. If we go to Crete again, we will surely come to this hotel!! Excellent holidays of 2016! :-) Thank you!

The room was simple but clean and comfortable. Staff at the reception was not too friendly but helpful and speaking foreign languages rather good. The restaurant was good, breakfast was rich, dinner was diverse and delicious. Drinks were served from the pool bar, waiters and waitresses were very friendly and service was perfect. Cocktails were very good. Pool was nothing special, but was clean and very much suitable for swimming.

I loved Crete very very much, but you can find better hotel, than that. The room was small, and nithing else to say, I didn't like it. The breakfast & dinner were OK. The beach is apr. 10-15 minutes walking. I'd really love to go back to Crete, but not to this hotel.

Don't recommend this hotel. In front of the hotel there is noisy street - not possible to sleep without earmuffs, many mosquitoes, old rooms, stuff don't communicate in English, poor food - still the same food and no drinks to dinner - not even fresh water, air condition - 6 euro extra per day , fridge - 6 euro extra per day, electric lines above the hotel pool. See attached photos. Crete is very nice island, many opportunities for spending your time, many nice places but this hotel ruined our vacation.

Nice and helpful staff. It is near the beach, the super market, the bus stop. There are basic but clean rooms. Our room (looking on the garden) was very noisy because of the traffic, Wifi doesn't work too good. Air cinditioning is not inculded, we had to pay 6 Euro per day.
